Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sand Key
- What's Included
I seldom eat in a hotel grill but this place was incredible. First off, Rick the bartender is a hoot and pours fantastic drinks. About the food? I could not believe the filet. It was huge and off the charts delicious with a large dinner salad. My buddy had the sea bass and he said it was fantastic too. Best of all, they were reasonably priced. The hotel was also very nice and the rooms are great. There is a living room with a small refrigerator, microwave, sofas and large screen TV. In addition, the staff were very professional and friendly. Great location!
Stayed here 4 nights over Thanksgiving weekend. We knew of the construction in advance of our trip, but did not realize how obtrusive it would be. We were given a room on the 4th floor which was the same floor they were currently renovating ! Our room was next to the service elevator which the construction workers were using to transport construction materials.....from dawn to dusk ! Not good. The front of our "suite" overlooked the garbage dumpster pickup area and our "balcony" view in the back of the room overlooked a huge HVAC unit which would constantly blow warm air onto our balcony. Definitely one of the worst rooms at this property. I'm guessing I was given a bad room due to my AAA discount ? As far as the amenities: 1) the room itself was nice, despite the location. Large room with new carpet, new beds, two large TV's, new bathroom fixtures, etc. Strangely, there were no chest-of-drawers to put your clothes ? It's almost as if there was some furniture missing ? 2) the outdoor pool and bar area are nice, but if the weather is too hot/cool or rainy and you wish to go inside, there is nothing open in the hotel during the day. Not what I expected from a "full-fledged" Marriott hotel. 3) Housekeeping was an issue. Our room was made up very late every day, one day as late as 5:30. 4) on the positive, but not really regarding the hotel, there are a couple of great restaurants next door, Columbia (for dinner) and Maggie Mae's (for breakfast).
Hotel is very nice inside and out since the renovations (not that it wasn't nice before). We were a group of 5 adults (me, my husband, his sister, and his parents) and we were pretty comfortable in the suite with two double beds. My husband and I slept on the pull out sofa which was relatively comfortable as far as pull out sofas go. My in laws liked the Starbucks brewed coffee available for purchase in the lobby. We didn't eat at the restaurant so I can't really speak to that. The views from the hotel room are fantastic, we were up on the 7th floor. Pretty central to everything, and it's nice that we don't have to try to brave any possible traffic on the Clearwater Memorial Causeway, Clearwater Beach is just a hop, skip, and a jump over the Sand Key Bridge. Would definitely stay here again!
My daughter and I stayed at the Marriott during our recent visit to the Clearwater area. Upon arrival, we were given an upgrade to the 10th floor(thanks Mikele). From our balcony we enjoyed a beautiful view of the bay and the pool area. The location of the hotel is close to a few area restaurants and shopping plaza. Although there are many delicious restaurants in the downtown area which is only a five minute drive. My only complaint is the Saturday breakfast does not start until 7:00am. I did purchase the breakfast package which is well worth the price. Unfortunately, we had an early interview appointment on Saturday and were unable to stay for the 7am breakfast. But, the kitchen staff was kind enough to give us to go containers for our breakfast. Another plus to this hotel is the free parking.Would definitely recommend the Marriott Sand Keys!
Gorgeous hotel. Heated pool. 2 bars. Outstanding views. And some of the nicest staff I have ever experienced in hospitality. My only gripe was that the bathroom has a pocket door. Rooms were clean. You can clearly see this brand and hotel maintain high standards.
