Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sand Key
- What's Included
The Marriott on Sand Key is in a great location overlooking the bay. While it doesn't sit directly in the beach there are 2 within walking distance. The room was outstanding and large, we were there without the kids but will likely bring them next time. Service was great throughout the stay. The staff at the outdoor restaurant were always ready to go and happy to help. The pool was awesome, large enough to roam around for quite a while. We ate at the Steakhouse, again great service and really good steaks. We used uber to get over the bridge to some other restaurants and it was less than $7 each time. Visited several other name brand resorts in Clearwater and all fell short of the Marriott. Definitely recommend!
We had a water view room, 4th floor, AAA package with breakfast. Overall it is a great place to stay, food was good, service very good. Few minor issues like ice maker not working on 4th floor, breakfast option for buffet/offering from the kitchen was not explained until last day, minor things but could be improved. Views from room were great, pool was clean and enjoyable. Mike and Bob were very nice, take you to and from the Sand Key beach in the van which is a plus if you want to avoid the clearwater crowds.
We've been to Florida several times for the theme parks with our 2 children. This time we decided to spend the last five days of our holiday at the Marriott in Clearwater Beach. The hotel was perfect for our needs. Staff are excellent, welcoming and helpful. The facilities are mostly very good. Our room on the sixth floor was modern and clean. We especially liked the dual aspect of the room with the balcony overlooking the bay. Our only suggestion regarding the room would be that it lacked enough storage space for clothes...only a small wardrobe. With four people and four suit cases it would have helped to have a better solution available. The restaurant was excellent. We ate breakfast every morning there and twice in the evening. The steak and sea bass are definite recommendations.Food, drinks and service by the pool were all very good as well. With the added bonus of a Starbucks off the side of the reception area.Another area for improvement that we noted were the lifts. There were two lifts working during our stay which as the only access to all of the rooms meant each day you had to wait several minutes. We have booked again for summer 2018 :)
I've reviewed this property in the past, but haven't visited since 2013. (There was a pretty large renovation since then.) We arrived late Friday night and were greeted by the very pleasant night clerk promptly. He reviewed all the changes to the hotel since our last visit. Our room was on the 7th floor with a beautiful view of the sound from the balcony. Note that the Marriott is not on the beach, but it does offer a quick, free shuttle to the beach. The room renovation has really given this property an up to the minute feel. There's a leather sectional sofabed in the living room facing a flat screen LG 42 inch TV. The light fixtures have all been updated. The living room also has a counter, sink, coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator all with an attractive tile backsplash. The bedroom has likewise been updated with more modern furniture, flat screen 37 inch TV, new light fixtures and a duvet on the bed. There are no drawers in the bedroom. They are in the closet opposite the bathroom, and there are only two, so plan on hanging things up. Best of all are the changes to the bathroom which could feel a little cramped in the past. The tub has been removed. In its place is a spacious walk-in stall shower. There's plenty of space for cosmetics by the sink, which was not the case in the past. Housekeeping was very good. I found all my make up beautifully arranged. Toiletries are by Thann and have a woodsy scent. The balcony has two chairs and a small table.A continental breakfast was included in our package. For an additional $5 per person, we could add sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs or omelets. This was well worth it. The omelets are excellent and I am fussy about them not being too brown. My husband felt the bacon was a little overdone, but that is a common problem with buffet bacon. Our servers (Norma twice and Tory once) were very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere and view in the dining area are lovely, but these ladies make it extra special. The pool area has been renovated with new lounges. We enjoyed the sunshine and swimming. You can get drinks and snacks served poolside. The pool staff are very friendly. This hotel just has a really friendly relaxed mood to it. There's a guy in the lobby who makes balloon animals for the kids. The parking valets greeted us enthusiastically every time they saw us and we don't even valet park! If you're looking for a well-run and happy place for a vacation, this resort will exceed your expectations.
A true gem in a world of hotels in Sand Key. The hotel staff on all levels and positions deliver courtesy, kindness, professionalism and knowledge of the hotel, it's amenities and the area for things to do. Paul the concierge is unsurpassed in elegance, class, hotel and community knowledge. Paul represents a caliber of high-end hospitality, leadership, team support and professionalism not seen in this country for many decades. Paul is the hospitality industry and could indeed serve as an example, role model and mentor for success at any level. His appearance and paramount dress attire reflects a term not seen not known in over 50 years in this country; a Gentleman. It was an honor to meet him and allow him to guide me to not only the array of recreational choices available in Clearwater but fill me with hope and inspiration that there still exists, a person who defines humanity. Added mention to a lovely lady concierge who had a relationship with Lisa the Parrot and also serves true guest service and hotel information. Getting back to the hotel, there are a few morning restaurant lounge team members who need to clean up their appearance a bit, shave completely and reflect a clean cut professional appearance with excellent communication skills and ettiqutte. "You guys" is a term I should never hear. Let's change the music throughout to instrumental only to allow for guest conversation. No server should ever give a guest a good bill prior to the guest finishing their meal or receiving the request from the guest. Move the meat and cheese selections over by the buffet corner , keep it all in one location. Turn off the CNN and all news from common area TV's. Many guests are spending money to get away, those that choose to remain in the chaos and drama of the world can go watch in their rooms. Please enhance our experience, do not devastate it like 99% of all hotel lobbies, bars , and lounge areas globally . Staff is never to start cleaning and wrapping up a restaurant area around occupied tables until all guests have departed. Table cloths need to return to all am and pm dining areas, this is an upper scale price point, let's provide an upper scale presentation, yes this includes the breakfast buffet tables for guests. All in all, this is indeed a gem of a hotel and Lisa the parrot and Paul the Concierge are the main attractions.
