Decent family hotel

Not a bad hotel, has a water park, a restaurant and a bar on site, also an arcade! Opening times on the restaurant are a little funny. We were here 8 days and the room was only cleaned a couple times tho. Handy for universal and volcano bay, it's on international drive so plenty restaurants and bars etc roundabout

Brilliant staff poor facilities

Staff are very friendly helpful and pleasant even during the recent hurricane (Irma) however when we arrived the hotel looks a feels more like a motel that you'd see on CSI with chalk line in the car park. Bed bugs not enough chairs or beds around the pools. The pools are NOT the exclusive to hotel residents and therefore extra care with valuables must be taken.

EXPENSIVE EXTRAS

Overall the hotel was much better than I expected, particularly the water park (thought it might be a gimmick). The numerous safety staff were ultra-attentive which was very reassuring for parents. My grandson, who is 2 yrs 6 months, loved it - plenty of fun for toddlers. The room was very good, large and kept very clean. The room safe was free (something that is unheard of in Europe). I have a few gripes: the on-site shop was incredibly expensive; I know they tend to be expensive but this one was extortionate. The other complaint was the arcade. There is a system where you buy tickets at $10 which you can use on the games. One of the games was a basketball shooting game and it cost $3 - there was a countdown clock which lasted 20 seconds - $3 for 20 seconds?? The $10 card did not last long at all and I only had a toddler - imagine having 2 or 3 teenagers. There is absolutely no need for this extortion. If the games were $1 a go, the kids could play longer and they would probably spend the same amount of money anyway. Just took the edge off what was a quite enjoyable stay.

Brilliant family holiday

Just came back from what turned out to be a two and a half week holiday. What can I say, coco key is situated in a fantastic location on international drive. All members of staff went out there to be helpful and polite. Room cleaned almost every day by Octavia. Water park was just big enough to keep kids and adults busy if you wasn't at any of the parks. Free transport to universal. Staff helped with getting transport to the rest of the parks even told me to use Uber which I suggest as works out a lot cheaper than taxis. We got caught up in hurricane irma. The hotel were fantastic, put on films on in the lobby for the kids and put letters under all our doors to keep us informed of the situation, with advice of what we needed to do. They was soon on clean up the next morning and by lunch time we were all back in the pool. They accommodated us when our flight was delayed with no questions asked.I would certainly stop here again in the future.

Please read before you book!!! AWFUL

We booked this hotel last minute as we thought the pictures looked good and the water park would be good for our daughter. We are a working class family, 30, 25 and 5 years old. We work hard to afford our holidays and always look for something which will entertain our little girl and keep her busy. We arrived at this resort on Sunday 3rd September at around 8pm. We went to the room and it was very dark in its decor and the cupboards were chipped but me and my partner decided it would suffice. We unpacked and went straight to bed. I woke the next morning to find my partner had not slept due to a very loud dripping tap. We got up and went to use the shower and it was freezing cold. I called reception and they said that they would have someone look at the boiler. 30 minutes later and it was still cold so we had freezing cold showers as it was the first day of our holiday and wanted to get out. We stopped at reception and logged the issue of the dripping tap and cold water and they said it would be fixed when we returned that day. During the course of the day my daughter had complained about something itching her leg, when I looked she had a bite. My partner also spent the day complaining that his skin was very itchy. We got back and took our daughter to the pool area which seemed okay. We got back to the room 8 hours after I logged the issues and still nothing had been done. I was putting some drinks in the fridge when I noticed little white bugs crawling all over the desk area over my hair dryer and straighteners. On closer inspection I discovered that these little white bugs were crawling all over our clothes in the cupboards and the room was infested. I went straight to reception and Debbie said that they were dust mites. I felt sick as I have OCD with cleanliness and germs. They offered to move us and give us 20 dollars and some bags for us to do our own laundry. I said I was not happy about this as they should be arranging for someone to do our laundry, not inconvenience me even further. But they said that's all that could be done. I was showed a number of rooms and every rooms air conditioning units were broken with parts missing. I agreed to one of the rooms and we began to move some of our things down. All of our clothes were in bags ready for me to take to the laundry room. At this point it was 11.30am. There was a drunk man sat outside of our room on the floor drinking alcohol. Staff did not tell him to move and neither did the security. In the new room my partner was sat on the bed for a short while and his clothes seemed wet. He put a pillow to his face to see if they were damp (which they were) but the washing powder was sat on the sheets and burnt his eye. My partner felt that it was not safe for me to go to the laundry room alone so we all had to go. It took 3 hours to do the washing and our little girl had to sleep on a chair as we felt it wasn't safe to be split up. This property is not a hotel. It is a motel. Anyone from the streets can gain access to your accommodation as there are multiple entry points (you don't have to walk through the lobby). My partner felt enough was enough and decided that we would not be staying there so we loading the car with our things. We drove to find a hotel and due to a police road block we had to turn around on a car park where we had a gun pointed at us from a vehicle by four African American males. My partner sped away and we ended up and Hyatt Regency on international drive which was beautiful. The next morning we met back at the hotel and spoke with the manager David. We had been told the night before that he would have an extensive handover of our situation but when we arrived at 11.30am he did not have a clue what we were talking about so this did not happen. We met with a rep from Thomas Cook who saw all of our evidence and didn't even question moving us it was that bad!! We got our 200 dollars back from reception that we paid in fees to stay at this hell hole. If you like Pontins and Blackpool then you may be okay at this hotel. Otherwise I would strongly recommend that you avoid it at all costs. My daughter was bitten and my partner now has a very aggravated skin condition due to the dust mites. We ended up losing 3 days of our holiday due to complaining, moving hotels and washing clothes. I ended up being sick with exhaustion because our bodies had not yet adjusted from UK time and I was tired and stressed. Also nearly every time I approached the reception desk there were people complaining and asking for refunds. Make sure you have Uber downloaded if you plan on getting taxi's. An uber taxi from Orlando airport to international drive is around $25. We ordered a taxi with the women who sorts the attractions at the resort and it was $50 but the taxi driver came in to collect us and passed her some money so she is obviously getting back handers for using certain people. My experience of CoCo Keys resort is not one that I will forget in a hurry although I wish I could. It ruined the beginning of our holiday and I can not believe that reputable companies like Thomas Cook would offer this accommodation to the customers!!!
