Just okay Key hotel

We only chose this hotel because members of our family had booked and wanted us all to be together. It's in dire need of a makeover in fact quite a lot of tlc. We booked a deluxe room and we were bitterly disappointed as soon as we entered the room. The blinds were warped and wouldn't close properly, also the toilet kept on running when flushed. We complained and to the credit of the reception staff we were moved to a better room, not brilliant but a lot better. The staff were all friendly and very helpful, can't fault them at all.The hotel pool was quite nice, a fair size with plenty of sun beds. The hotel does boast a water park and there is a surcharge you have to pay to use this facility, to be honest I don't think it's worth it. One of the three main slides wasn't working and being as they say November is out of season the water park isn't open for the full week. In fact we arrived late on a Sunday and the park wasn't open until the Thursday. We thought that little of the water park that we didn't bother with it again. There is a kids water area which is okay and will suit smaller children. The hotel itself is in quite a good location with plenty of bars and eateries on its doorstep. We wouldn't stop here again for a holiday, maybe for a night or two if we were passing through. It wasn't cheap to stay there and we expected better.

Stayed here for a week during Irma !!! Worst holiday ever. Despite being on lockdown for 2days the hotel did their best to keep things going for clients. However Our room was dirty and over run with cockroaches!!!! They were everywhere on the bedside table under the clock in the wardrobe on the dressing table. The Sofa was covered in stains and dried food. And we had to keep food for the 2 days Locked in our cases. I complained to reception who sent deep cleaners. I noticed a trailer parked (pest control). They were in and out of several rooms round pool. Hotel was full so couldn’t move. On check out I spoke to manager who just said take it up with thomson. We were Alive !!! It was horrendous never again. It’s scruffy and alive with cockroaches ( and we were on second floor )

stay at CoCo Key

Excellent deal, large rooms, comfortable beds, clean linen, lovely pool with palm trees. Only unpleasant surprise was that the prices were not clear when booking because EXTRA 15$ per day "resort fee"...

Never again

The classic was this weekend, which is a huge college football game so Orlando was packed and prices were high. We ended up here because it was the lowest rate for the number of stars using express deal on Priceline, which by the way I have been lucky with, until now! The staff at check in was decent but not as helpful as could of been considering it was confusing finding the room. The room was pretty big, that is where it ends, it was outdated, there was no upkeep, the hallways smelled bad and the bed and pillows are awful! I am a Floridian by birth, I understand tourist town hotels, beach hotels and I can forgive a lot so for me to be bothered it was bad. Also there is a $14.95 resort fee and that is if you are not using the water park which we didn’t nor would I ever, they cannot even keep up with the hotel so I would not risk it. Not sure what the resort fee is for since other than the water park thermos only an arcade, which you pay for. There are so many other great budget friendly hotels, and this is not budget friendly! Safe yourself the agrrevation and skip it.

Good basic base for a holiday.

We came for just a week so our almost 3yr old could have her first taste of Disney. Our expectations were met with a basic 2 bed hotel room with bathroom, TV, fridge & coffee machine. On check in Amanda was very friendly and helpful. Our first room faced the parking lot where there are big floodlights pointing at the building. With just a blind at the window this meant the room was very bright so we asked to swap.Again Amanda was very helpful and it was no problem to switch to a room not facing the car park.We took room 7208. Nicely located. Quiet and furnished as you would expect a hotel like this.2 big comfy beds, cable TV, fridge & coffee maker.Decent sized bathroom- my only issue was there was no window or extractor unit so it gets very hot and steamy in there with no quick way of cooling it down. The air con is big and a little noisy but no more than other units in similar hotels we have been to.The water park was great to have onsite.I wouldn't want a room facing this though as pedestrian traffic and noise would be too much. Our toddler had plenty of fun on the smaller slides and splash areas. Bigger kids also have plenty of things to play on.The hotel is in a good location on I.Drive albeit nearer the top end where there is a lot of places being renovated but that had no impact on us. Very close for Universal.Another year or 2 and this end of the drive will be a little more like the bottom end where it's all been spruced up nicely. We didn't actually eat onsite as there are many places nearby. But the staff we encountered were all polite and friendly and we had no issues with our stay.If you are out most of the day at the parks, this is a perfectly adequate base to sleep.
