Disney's All-Star Movies Resort

Whenever I'm in Disney, I stay here. Free transportation in between the airport and the resort, and in between the resort and the parks. Great services. I stayed here for 5 nights, one day I went out for lunch, just half an hour, my room was well cleaned when I got back. Also, I'm a vegetarian as well as allergic to lots of ingredients, I talked with a lady from the restaurant counter, she helped me to talk with the chef and made me a special spaghetti, that was beyond my expectation! I'll definitely come back again and stay here!
We stayed here with our 2 sons, ages 5 and 8, May 20-25 and enjoyed our stay overall.MAGIC EXPRESS: Smooth process! We were bummed we had a regular motor coach instead of one of the Magic Express buses because those buses show a welcome to Disney World video. Not a huge deal but would have been nice for the kids. Our luggage took about 5 hours to arrive in our room so make sure to pack a carry on for whatever you may need. Our ride back was good, we saw a goodbye video on that one.FRONT DESK: Everyone we encountered was friendly, polite, and helpful. No complaints whatsoever!GROUNDS: Well maintained gardens, clean, and quite impressive actually! Our sons really liked all the giant characters at the resort. We were aiming for a Disney feel and were not disappointed. ROOMS: I requested the Toy Story section and even though we reserved a standard room we got lucky. These rooms are very basic as other reviewers state, but we had no issues with the 4 of us. Unless you are used to large hotel rooms, these will not be a surprise. Yes, our room was nothing to rave about but it was very clean unlike some of the other reviews I've read on here. Small refrigerator. No coffee maker. No mold issues in the bathroom or battered furniture. However, do know that since this resort is like a motel, dirt is going to get dragged into the rooms. While our carpet was clearly vacuumed, it was a bit sticky and could use a good deep cleaning soon. Also, walls are paper thin so you will hear everything...we did. MAIN POOL: Large, clean, and with ample life guards. No need to bring with your own flotation devices for kids unless you have a small toddler, they had lots of options and sizes. Towels are located at the pool. Bathrooms near pool are clean and have shower stalls. No complaints.WORLD PREMIER FOOD COURT: Sufficient but have realistic expectations. We did find the children's meals to be a good value. Plenty of microwaves. If you are looking for more options, go to Disney Springs but make sure you have reservations well in advance (our boys loved TRex Cafe). Beware, breakfast is absolute chaos with everyone trying to get to the parks early. Your best bet is to stock up on cereal or muffins the night before. You will also be disappointed if you are a regular healthy eater. Again, realistic expectations. No kale salad here.DISNEY TRANSPORTATION: The longest we waited was 20 min for a bus our entire stay. Maybe coming back from Blizzard Beach was a little longer but all in all a smooth process. They told us that buses start running 1 hour before park opening and to get in line for Magic Kingdom by 7:30 to make the 8:00 bus. Well, we did and bus came just minutes after so that was a pleasant surprise (we were at MK really early and got a good spot for the opening ceremony at the castle at 9:00. Remember, even though parks "open" at a certain time what they mean is rope drop for rides. You can enter prior to opening). The only bus we shared with other All Star resorts was on the way to Blizzard Beach. That was it. ARCADE: Our boys loved it! Lots of games but had issues with some eating our points and not working. Also, some of the games with balls were either stolen or misplaced in other games jamming them. I think they could do a better job keeping track of this than they do because we encountered these issues throughout our stay. The front desk had no issue giving us some extra points on our card to compensate for these issues. Added bonus was when they set all the games to free one rainy night. Nice touch!SHOP: There is a small souvenir shop next to the food court. You will also find snacks and drinks in here. Don't worry if you forget your sunscreen or medicines, they had a few options for kids and adults. Looks like a mini pharmacy behind the checkout counter. We found this resort to be a great value, but come with realistic expectations. I find some of these reviews to be a bit harsh and makes me wonder what they were expecting at this price point (separate of mold or cleanliness issues some encounter). Also, after reading reviews we expected to find the resort to be sprawling with long walks. Unless you have a disability, it is not a difficult walk anywhere in the resort. Mighty Ducks really isn't that far. My husband laughed about it when we ventured over there. "People are really complaining about this distance?!" We did not go during high season but did encounter a few teenage school groups. I can only imagine the amount of teenagers from Feb- April so keep this in mind for all the All Star resorts. Yes, they are loud and will slam doors at midnight. Another tidbit: Blizzard Beach does have towel rentals but skip it and bring the resort pool towels. Front desk advised us to do this and sure enough the towels were the exact same ones as BB. We would stay here again if looking for an affordable stay.
Quiet resort. Value resort, so there are no bells or whistles. Basic room, average food court, basic pool. Preferred room was not what I would call preferred. It was at the back of the resort on first floor. Was told that was preferred due to quietness. I consider preferred to be close to amenities such as transportation, pool, food, etc. Will know next time.Buses: you are at the very end of all pick up areas at the parks so be prepared to park and remember, this a value resort, and that includes transportation.
This was the only "Value" Resort I stayed at as far as official Walt Disney World resorts are concerned, and although I would consider staying at another value property such as art of animation or pop century, I can pretty much tell you that I have ruled out the possibility of another reservation at any of the All-Star resorts. All of the all star properties share one common bus route and if I'm not mistaken, perhaps 1 to 3 buses at the most. Given the size of the All-Star properties and the fact that they are usually pretty booked up because most Disney-goers mistakenly believe that they are getting the best bang for their buck by staying at a "value "resort, in my opinion, it really is not Cost or time-effective to spend close to 200.00 (if not more) per night with the expectation that the convenience and cost savings on transportation, parking, the Magical Express bus service that takes you to/from MCO to the resort, etc.).First off, this property is huge, sprawling, and loud. There really does not seem to be anywhere on property where one can get even a moment of quiet time. Even a quiet meal cannot be had here, or really one where you can enjoy a conversation at a normal volume, since the property is so overcrowded and overstimulating. Since I live about three hours away in Florida, I opted to drive and ended up using my vehicle after making the mistake of relying on the resort bus transportation service to get to and from the theme parks once. Although getting to the park was not a big deal, the wait to simply board the bus after returning was ridiculous. I felt like an outcast, as I saw several other resort buses come and go several times. By the time my friend and I boarded the bus, it was standing room only. It took nearly one hour to get back to the resort, and an additional 15 minute hike back to the room. As far as the rooms, they are by far the smallest and most standard out of all resort guest rooms throughout the Disney official properties, which is truly a disappointment given the larger than life iconic statues and theming throughout the exterior of the resort. The interior of the guestrooms on the other hand, left much to be desired. The only reason I chose this property was because it was the least expensive for a Florida resident rate aside from the All-Star sports resort. Since I am nothing of a sports fan, the All-Star movies resort appealed mostly to my personal interests. However, I would definitely opt for a moderate or deluxe resort in the future. Also, this property is very much geared to young children who would perhaps be impressed by the exterior theming and not notice how tiny the room is. For adults, this is definitely not an ideal property. When I made my reservation, I was told it would only cost a nominal up charge to get a room at Port Orleans Riverside or French quarter, and I really wish I would've opted for either one of those two properties. I had stayed at the French quarter in the past and it really is a much nicer resort.
I had requested a ground floor handicapped room but they tried to give me second floor. It was available later in the day so I told them I would wait. I was in the fantasia section which is preferred. I was in room 8718 which is located on the back side of the building by the pool.It had a king size bed and a roll in shower in the bathroom. the only complaint I had was the bathroom floor would always get wet no matter how you moved the shower curtain. the last two days we were there, we saw some worms and told the maintenance people but didnt seem like they understood English well, and the worms were still there our last morning. Our bus stop is the third stop of the value resorts. first is sports, then music, then movies so sometimes when the busses came they were already too full for scooters. they would order another bus tho so we didnt wait long. There were groups of kids on class trips so there was alot of times the food court was very full and no indoor seating. I discovered an outside building with tables that they show movies in at night.Employees were very nice.It had a laundromat, a kidd pool with sprinkler separate and an adult pool
