I stayed here with some friends for a few nights in January 2015. For the most part it was excellent, with the exception of a small hiccup at the start. We were meant to arrive in the evening, but due to some connecting flight delay issues, we didn't arrive until around 6am the next morning. When we go to our room, it was full of food, mess and the beds had clearly been slept in. We had to drag our bags back to the front desk where a very confused employee organized us another room. Unfortunately it wouldn't be ready yet. They refunded us part of the cost of the first night and we were way too tired to argue, but in hindsight, we really should have been refunded the entire cost of the room because our new room wasn't available until 3pm, so we literally didn't get in to our room for the first 24 hours. The good part of that was that the new room they put us in was right next door to our friends (the original room was in a different building) so it all worked out in the end. That setback aside, the hotel is a great budget option if you're visiting Disney. The hotel is basic and no-frills, but still comes with all the amenities and benefits of a Disney resort: Disney theming, free airport transfers, free bus transportation to the parks and downtown disney, gift shop and food court, swimming pools, free package delivery from the parks to the hotel, extra magic hours at the parks etc. The rooms are simple but very clean and well maintained, the beds are comfy and we had plenty of room for 2 adults per room. Children would have fitted in fine, although and extra one or two adults may have made things a bit squishy. But if you're only using the room of sleeping then it's fine.Overall, a good budget option for a Disney vacation.
Yes, this is a budget resort but if you have a query/problem staff will go that extra mile to help. Rooms clean and adequate. Don't accept the complaints about 'distance from reception/transport'. Furthest point is 5 minutes stroll!! Only complaint would be parents not controlling children which is not the resorts fault!!!
The rooms are standard size rooms with 2 full size beds and a single bathroom so don't expect anything spacious...but the rooms are amazingly clean and actually quite comfortable. The grounds are adorable and covered with plenty of Disney animated characters and lots of picture taking spots which makes it so much fun for the little ones. We had a bit of a mix up with our Magic Kingdom fast pass reservations at check in but the staff at the counter resolved the issued quickly and even made a few time correction suggestions that helped with the flow of the day and certainly made the trip much easier. There is a large pool with plenty of room for the kids to swim and there is even a play ground. The poolside bar is nice but the food in the café is really nothing special. The shuttle service could really use improvement but other than that the stay was nice. If your looking for a clean comfortable room with lots of character, a very moderate price, and you want to stay on Disney property then I recommend the All Star Movie Resort.
We stayed in a Mighty Ducks room in October. My son and I flew down for just 2 nights to see one of the last showing of the Electrical Parade, so I didn't see the point in splurging for an expensive room. It was awesome to get the Disney Perks of the Magical Express picking us up and taking us to the airport and the use of Disney Transportation while we there, because we flew down and did not need to rent a car for our brief trip. The resort is fine, but it definitely resembles a cheap motel with the outside rooms. My son LOVED the Dalmatian statues and theming that we walked by to our rooms. A lot of people complain about the walking from the Mighty Duck rooms, but I really didn't think it took all that long- maybe a few minutes to get to the bus stop and food court? It really wasn't a bother to me. I do suggest bringing a sound machine, or adding an app to your phone or device. It is LOUD with people going back and forth to their rooms, especially if you have young children napping during the day. We had a room NOT facing a pool, as requested, but there were still people walking by our room all hours of the day and night and some very loud. We didn't hear any noise from the rooms beside us or above us, though. One negative thing that bothered me was the smoking. There were many people standing outside of their rooms smoking, and the smoking areas were right along the paths we had to take to get everywhere. I really got nauseated by the smoke in the mornings. I wish they would move the smoking areas away from the heavily traveled paths. The food court was fine....regular cafeteria food. One thing that was frustrating, was in the burger line, not many things were ready to go. The line was very long. I am used to food courts with more food prepared and ready to go. Of course this line had the things my son usually wanted, such as grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken nuggets. It was really hard to wait in the long line with a 4 year old. Breakfast was a little better, as they had the food prepared and simply put it on plates. The food court was very crowded and not always well maintained, they were usually out of basic things in the self service area every time we went- no straws, out of ketchup, some fountain drink machines not working, etc. It was very busy when we were there, though.Transportation was not an issue at all. We were able to get on a bus at 6:45am to get to get to Magic Kingdom before rope drop when it opened at 8. We didn't wait long leaving the parks either time. I have to say, the people staying at All Star Movies were incredibly kind and thoughtful. I had read that if you stayed in Mighty Ducks it was just as easy to ride an All Star Music bus back, because it was a quicker walk from there. So we tried getting on an All Star Music bus because it was already there. I boarded the bus with my 4 year old by the hand and our stroller in the other hand, and there were no seats. I was fine standing, but I needed a seat for my 4 year old. Not one person offered to let my little guy sit, so we had to get off. We ran over and got in the line for the Movies bus, and the line was pretty long. As we boarded, most of the adults did not even take a seat until they were sure the little kids, older people, mamas with babies in laps, etc all had a seat. I was blown away with the community spirit of the people on that bus- working together to make sure everyone had a seat that needed one and to make sure that everyone got on. This happened again when we boarded the bus to go back to MK later and when we left MK at the end of the night. People offered to help each other with strollers, etc. The pool does not have a water slide like the deluxe and moderates, but it had a very cool Fantasia Mickey fountain. It also had a nice splash pad and baby pool area. Life jackets are supplied. I called down to the front desk to check on bringing my room towels to the pool- because they have towels by the pool at some resorts- and they confirmed I needed to take my room towels. But then the CM asked how many I needed to be replaced. They were already bringing new towels to my room as we were walking out a few minutes later. We definitely experienced great service from the front desk while we there.Overall, the resort is fine. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. It is nothing fancy or special. They are dated and small. They have basic toiletry options- just a shampoo/conditioner in one, and bar soap. That was really disappointing after staying at the Wilderness Lodge in the summer. But, it was fine for the price. I also appreciated the airport check in service right at the resort- we checked our bags and got our boarding passes right there- what a convenience for this mom flying alone with a 4 year old! If you are going to spend a lot of time in the parks, and don't mind sacrificing some of the "extra" touches of the deluxe hotels, this is a great place. Also, if you have little ones, don't need a lot of extra space, or have little ones who are crazy about the Dalmatians or Toy Story....they would love it.
2 weeks at Disney's all star movies during first 2 weeks of October, Hurricane Mathew hit, disney were brilliant, they had staff on throughout whilst guests were confined to resort and a state curfew imposed. Staff came round with gifts for everyone of candy and popcorn etc and it was all hands to deck to provide food and drinks in the cafeteria area which was bombarded with guests. They kept us updated every couple of hours by leaving messages on our room phones. My travel company in the uk did not contact us once, or even seem to care about the hurricane. I couldn't sing their praises enough. The location of the hotel is perfect for family's doing disney, the free transport to parks runs every 20 mins and was brilliant, and with the new disney bracelets lift couldn't be easier. If you have a car, parking is free, unlike universals hotels. The hotel itself is very family orientated with regular poolside games and activities for children or families having a break from parks. The rooms i have to say are starting to look a bit tired, and could probably do with a lick of paint, but they are very clean with daily maid service, and considering the money we paid was well worth it. This is a budget hotel which gives the disney experience at a reduced cost. Ideal for families travelling on a budget. The location of this hotel was excellent for disney on Buena Vista Drive next to Blizzard Beach.Tip for first time Brits. If you are nervous about driving or hiring a car, and your just doing the disney experience, leave the car, as the transport disney provide is free and excellent and the parks are now charging $20 per day to park which is extortionate, and works out very expensive over 2 weeks.
