Disney's All-Star Sports Resort

We have stayed here twice. I like this hotel, it is a value resort and it's just fine to me. Our room is nice, some people say they are dated and need a reno but ours is good enough for being a value resort. Good for kids, nice big pool with a big food court. Food is decent but you get tired of it after a while but we are on the free dining plan so can't complain. Saved us lots of money. We asked for extra pillows and were brought right up. I agree with the below review regarding the sports teams. We are here right now, beginning week of December and they are really out of control. The parents all seem to be drinking at the bar while the kids run wild. Never see an adult with them. It was nice and quiet until they all showed up. It then turned loud and rowdy. Constantly yelling swear words, fighting, climbing the props, etc. As I lay in my room right now I can hear them. Not the hotels fault that way but there should be more controls to avoid this. Maybe they are trying? There are so many of them so may be hard to control. I just feel a few more rules should be in place for this and the parents/chaperones should be watching their kids as this is Disney and a lot of kids stay here. Other than that have enjoyed my stay and would return.
We have stayed at other value resorts and this one is your typical one. Good theming, especially for kids and decent price to lay your head at night. Rooms were clean and pool was nice. It had your standard value resort meals which worked for us for the occasion. The staff were responsive and all around pleasant. I love staying at Disney resorts as they make things easy with the Magical Express and the luggage service. Rooms are typically small and ok for us as we have small kids and basically are there to sleep and shower.
Where do I start? First week of December is Pop warner week. Big mistake. Pool totally dominated by rude, vulgar, thoughtless "athletes". I use this term loosely. I have never seen such disgraceful behavior from a group of youngsters. The Iife guards were ill-prepared to manage the quantity of thugs that descended on the pool. And where were the chaperones??? Many were occupying the bar, others, who knows. Disney needs to come up with a plan for controlling these youngsters. When a young mother complained she could not swim with her small child because of the antics of these kids, diving, splashing, all manner of rude behavior, she was told she should move. And, where would that be? The pool was overrun with out of control boys. Our vacation was ruined, our time at the pool so stressful, we had to leave. I have never been so disappointed in an organization as I am with Pop Warner. If Disney can't adequately maintain a safe environment for ALL guests, perhaps they should rethink their growing commitment to the sports venues and get back to making disneyworld a family place again.
This was our first time ever staying at a Disney Value Resort. We typically stay at a moderate Disney level and the difference is certainly obvious. The room was clean and we did have a prime location as requested. The entire theme of the Resort is really cool but it fell short on several areas. We are a family of 4 and had 2 beds for our 8 day stay. The one mattress was very nice but the other was like sleeping on stone. You do get soap and combo shampoo conditioner but no matter how often you request lotion you may be told we will try and get some to your room but eventually you will be told that they do not supply guests with that item. You do get a small refrigerator but do not look for a coffee maker, microwave etc. etc. as you will not have it in the room. The food in the food court is average and quite often crowded at all hours. The beverage section always seems to be a wet mess. We had never experienced seeing trash and or food on the grounds of any Disney location but we did at this property.Overall it is a decent place and kind of cool if they can just step it up a bit.
We stayed here on a last minute whim. The good are the accessibility to the parks and the cast members. The bad is how remarkably dated the rooms are. The rooms are either 10 years since their last referb or have had a series of very destructive guests staying in them. The walls were all scratched and dented up. All of the amenities in the rooms seemed very old.Disney does so many things in so many wonderful ways. I'm happy to pay a little more for quality and convenience. I'm not willing to pay a little more for sub-par quality and convenience.Maybe instead of building the Avatar area no one I've met wants to go to, spend that money on refreshing what you already have. This is a value property, I get that. I just didn't see much value for the money paid with the rooms in their current state.
