Disney's Beach Club Resort
- What's Included
This place is AMAZING!!! The convenience of having a back-door entrance to Epcot trumps all! But wait, there's more! The hotel is beautiful - from the well-manicured grounds that truly remind you of a beach town to the rooms that are tastefully decorated. They had this sweet black and white picture of Minnie and Mickey flying a kite at the beach. I've never considered actually putting up Disney artwork in my home - until now. The little ice cream shop is great and eating breakfast in the quiet courtyard was a perfect start to the day. The rooms and hotel are quite despite the size. It's great to be so close to the Boardwalk as well. Let's talk about the pool for a minute though. OMG its amazing! There's a pirate ship with slides and a shallow pool for the littles. There's a lazy river and the bottom of the pool is sand! It's huge! Such a relaxing retreat from the craziness of the parks. I love this place and will stay here again and again. its worth every penny.
The fantastic location of this hotel is what has drawn me back to it three times (well, Beach Club twice, Yacht Club once). The beach and yacht club are adjoining hotels and share the pool area, each hotel has its own restaurant, shop... and they are themed differently. On balance I prefer the Yacht Club, there are better views from the rooms and it is a bit calmer than the Beach Club in the lobby and shop areas- probably because of the DVC accommodation at the Beach. Initially we were allocated a ground floor room near the Epcot entrance, after a couple of days I asked to move to a higher floor - the noise at ground floor level was significant, with cleaners and gardeners starting really early on the paths. The patio area was unusable too. The move was accommodated no issue and we relocated to a third floor room overlooking the quiet pool which we really liked. The main pool area is great for families, well kept and maintained- like all Disney water areas the lifeguards are plentiful and very observant.Rooms are great, they have been refurbished in the last couple of years - some of the Disney theming has reduced which is a shame. The shop had really helpful staff but the hot food prep area was chaotic - there seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to whose food got prepared first, multiple staff serving one customer whilst others left waiting. Really busy at breakfast especially. Had a couple of drinks in the bar one evening, again chaotic. The staff seemed totally unprepared to run a bar, dirty plates were stacked up on tables. This is a great hotel and the location is fab, walk into Epcot and a few minutes boat ride to Hollywood Studios. Beaches and Cream is well worth a visit!
We checked into the Beach Club Resort and had a most wonderful experience. We were upgraded to the Stone Harbor Club Level which included snacks and drinks. The hotel is within walking distance to Epcot and at night you can see the laser firework show from the bridge.
We stayed here over Labor Day through the Saturday before Hurricane Irma Hit. I have to say this is our first Deluxe Resort stay at Disney World, and we probably will never do anything less than Deluxe again! We usually stay at moderates or even values. The resort is beautiful. So Clean and well taken care of. The pool is just amazing! My kids are swimming obsessed and we visited the pool every day of our trip, even multiple times during the day. Because it is so big, the pool never felt crowded. We got to the resort around 10am and our room wasn't ready. I asked to see if there was any room ready that we could take just so we could get situated. They had one and switched us no problem. It was nice being in the room that early. I love the ferry option to Hollywood Studios and the easy walk to Epcot. Since the airport had closed at 5pm on Saturday, the day we were to return home, and we had an afternoon flight, I got a little nervous our flight could have been cancelled. So they were able to get me a room for a few extra days, at a hurricane rate, that was completely refundable had our flight still left on time. Which, thankfully, it did and I received a full refund for the reservation. It is nice they work with you and give you that kind of option.I can't wait to go back!!
We did a great deal of research on the Disney hotel options. Ultimately, we narrowed it down to the Grand Floridian, Beach Club, Yacht Club, and Wilderness Lodge -- all Deluxe options. I had read many reviews that the Grand Floridian is well past its prime and the Wilderness Lodge, while perhaps the nicest option, isn't connected to any parks which means you need to travel by boat or bus to get anywhere. We were also going in August (hot) and thought the kids would enjoy Stormalong Bay, which is the pool between the Yacht Club and the Beach Club. We ultimately chose the Beach Club because reviews said it was more "Disney" than the Yacht Club and closer to Epcot. It was fine. We had a room on the concierge level, which really isn't worth it unless you want to get a mediocre snack. We noted that they have a refrigerator with soda in it, but no water, that you need to buy. The snacks were really just not that good and we didn't use the lounge at all. Also, the pool was just OK. It gets rave reviews, but honestly, my kids (8 and 12) thought it was fine. We were there a week and used it once. In retrospect, I think we would have chosen either the Grand Floridian or the Wilderness Lodge. The room was fine. It was clean and functional. The bathroom was tiny. But, honestly, we weren't in the room at all. We had a view of the pool which was nice, but we would leave the room at 7am and not return until after 10, so we really didn't spend a lot of time in the room, which is good. To get to Epcot you just walk which is nice. You can also walk to Hollywood Studios. Otherwise you can take the boat (10 minutes) to Hollywood Studios, which is fun. To get to the other parks you take the bus which is right outside the front entrance of the hotel. NOTE that the bus system out of the Magic Kingdom is RIDICULOUS. We waited almost 90 minutes to get a bus back to the hotel. In retrospect we would have walked to the Contemporary Hotel and called an Uber. Unless your kids are really into Disney characters, the breakfast is no worth it. Better to grab breakfast in one of the parks. The restaurant (Cape May Cafe) food (we only had breakfast there) is just OK and the breakfast is very expensive. Three or four characters come around and say hi to the kids and pose for pictures. Overall, the hotel is perfectly fine. A few years ago I stayed at the Yacht Club on business and I think it may have been a little nicer. Otherwise, I think this is as good as it gets at Disney.
