Disney's Beach Club Resort
- What's Included
We returned to this hotel (tested in January this year as the Wilderness lodge is undergoing heavy construction works) and like it again. The 1st time we had a woods view giving us a very partial view to Epcot fireworks; this time a garden view (Disney took notice of our high floor /balcony request. Thanks).Rooms are big enough (American standards) and provide a fridge.Nice pools (a large one for kids and a calm one for people wanting to get away from the crowds).Nice themed breakfast buffet (please think about you guests health and put less corn sirup, salt and other sugary stuff in the fruit salads/pancakes etc) at Cape May café with Minnie, Donald and Goofy/Dingo or a regular American cooked breakfast (to be enjoyed in the lounge, outside or in the room) at their 'fastfood' restaurant in the mercantile shop.Didn't give the maximum note as a) we encountered a rather rude 'welcome' at the beaches ice-cream parlour that belongs to this hotel (see separate review) and b) the concierge left me waiting for 10 minutes before asking me what I wanted while he was VERY slowly attending to another guest. And it turned out I had waited at the wrong place. Good customers service = you quickly ask people what their needs are even if you are attending to other customers. This to ensure swift and good service.Thank you very much to all the dedicated staff (bell captains, front desk, shops and Cape may café).A shame WDW properties no longer tell you 'Welcome Home' when you arrive at the hotel gates. This made the whole experience a lot more magical.
Disney's Yacht and Beach Club resort offers the utmost convenience to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Depending on which area of the resort you are in, Epcot is a 5-10 minute walk. Hollywood studios is about a 20 min walk, but is easily quicker than the boat transportation that is provided. We've been staying at this resort once a year for eight years, and as always it was wonderful. The one disappointment that we had this year was the pool hours. The pool closed at 9pm this year, which didn't allow time for the night swimming after a day at the parks that my daughter has come to love.
We had a wonderful time here. The resort is beautiful, laid out well, and conveniently located. All staff was super helpful and had great customer service, with the exception of our waitress at the Cape May Cafe. She kind of looked like she hated her job. But other than this, great experience with staff. Def would go back!
We stayed for 3 nights recently and had a mixed experience but most likely averages out to a 4 overall.Pluses: quiet at night, I am not sure if the rooms are more soundproof or we just lucked out with adjacent rooms but I never woke once with noise which is not typical of any Disney resort I stayed at previous. So close to Epcot- 5 min walk or 10 min boat ride to international side of Epcot. Minuses- room specific- one day we ran out of toilet paper and waited approx 20 min for a new roll, not great to not have one on standby in the room. Balcony unusable, not sure why it has a full size door. Pool view room with lighting the equivalent of a football stadium on all night long.Very large pool area. Lazy river with strange variable deepness to 8 feet at points. Good quick service market and pool food. Character buffet breakfast also good.
We stayed in the Beach Club Villas (part of the DVC section) and were very pleased with everything our entire stay. The one down side is that the Villa/DVC section of the hotel is not close in proximity to the main lobby/dining or Stormalong Bay pool area. The upside is, it's very quiet, and has its own quiet pool and hot tub. We utilized online check in, and were able to input an estimate arrival time. We did end up arriving to the hotel before our anticipated time, which was also well before the 4:00 check in time, so we were not surprised when our room was not ready. The cast member confirmed the mobile number and told us a text alert would come when it was ready. It didn't take long at all, and we got our text while eating lunch from the hotel marketplace. Our room was clean, and included a sofa, table with 2 chairs, and a balcony with table and 2 chairs as well. We were able to see some of the Illuminations fireworks from our balcony each night (partially obstructed by trees). The best part about the Beach Club is the location! We enjoyed a walk from our room, to the Boardwalk, and back which was just under a mile long. We also walked to Epcot each day. The entrance will bring you to World Showcase right next to the footbridge between England and France.
