Disney's Beach Club Resort
- What's Included
I loved this hotel! Room was lovely and big - we had 3 adults and 3 children staying in a standard (2 queen beds and a pullout) and there was plenty of space - lovely big wardrobe, fridge, tea and coffee, bathroom was small but then the sink space/dressing area outside it was lovely and big to get ready in. The room was cleaned every day to a great standard. We had a room overlooking the beach and literally was a stones throw from the Epcot entrance which was such a bonus - we spent many an evening 'popping into' Epcot to go on some last minute rides! The Boardwalk is fantastic - we loved Jellyrolls piano bar and the pizza place was great for lunch. The bakery for snacks/breakfast - wow!!! And we had an amazing dinner at the flying fish - yes, expensive, but you get what you pay for. Service was impeccable there too. Kids loved the pool and we would lose them for hours! The baby loved the sandy entrance to the pool and the lazy river was a hit too. Great poolside bar. I would stay at this hotel again and again just for convenience. Only 1 downside that we had - the buses were not as frequent as I would've liked for a 'deluxe' hotel - I'm sure when we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside that the buses were more frequent. Some days we ended up getting a taxi - which can add up!
We stayed at the beach club resort last week for 5 days, my husband, toddler, baby, and I. The resort itself is nice and has pretty good amenities. It's walking distance from Epcot which is convenient. The breakfast at Cape May Cafe was totally worth it because my kids got to hug and take pictures with goofy and MInnie. However, our hotel room was not cleaned very well. When we arrived I noticed lots of cob webs, old grapes, and an old ball underneath the vanity in the bathroom area. This could have been a choking hazard for my two year old had I not seen the mess. In the dresser, the drawers had an old diaper, a random pill, some cheerios, clothing tags, old socks, and an opened chocolate bar! The shower wall had hair on it from whoever was in our room previously, and one of the days whoever cleaned the room let in a wasp! Can you imagine if I hadn't seen it and it would have stung one of my kids?! I called housekeeping and they came to "clean" the mess. They left everything I told them about in the drawers and only cleaned what was on the bottom of the vanity and the hair from the bathroom. Conditioner and Shampoo were also not refilled throughout our stay. We loved our Disney experience, just not the hotel.
The hotel itself is lovely, nice rooms, great pool (although is definitely not heated!) and good food options available. However the staff left a lot to be desired. Upon check in we were allocated a 2x queen bed room, we had pre booked a king room and since we were on honeymoon no way would we be staying in a separate bed situation. Went back to front desk assuming this was a mix up...no apparently there are only 8 king rooms in the entire hotel and they were reserved for disabled guests. an hour and multiple tears later the manager 'magically' found a king room which was available (not sure why they couldn't have found this room an hour earlier in the conversation!) The room was lovely. However it had no disabled facilities such as hand bars in the bath etc. so the whole 'all king rooms are for disabled guests' was a lie as the room we were given was not up to code for a disabled room in FL. A few days pass and we decide to order room service, we ordered over the phone in the room. Total was $70 for 2 pizzas and a portion of chips, expensive but its honeymoon and worth it to not have to get out of PJs. It was delivered and we gave extra as tip (as is customary) the pizzas were raw, raw dough throughout. We called and they came to replace them. The replacements were also raw. By this time it was 9pm, I went downstairs to reception with the pizza (still in my PJs) and the manager couldn't care less, she confirmed it was raw dough but offered no apology just said I could order something of the same value from room service as a replacement or cancel. I got back upstairs and called roomservice to get a refund and was told we would only get $45 back as we didn't complain about the chips, they also added service charge to the original $70 without telling me so I double tipped but was not going to get that back, the service on the phone was awful. After 30 minutes of arguing (hangry...) they agreed to refund $60 (eye roll) They just shoved the money (in exact change) under the door, no apology. At this point we were starving, I saw Hurricane Hannas was open until 10pm so sent my husband down to get some food, he got there at 9:30 and it was closed, shutters down no one around at all. Again spoke to the front desk and they said the website often doesn't report the correct closing times for resort restaurants.... so we were left hungry and pretty peed off. This ruined the rest of our stay at Disney, I have never been more disappointing in a hotel and its staff. Because its Disney the expectations are high so when they fall short its even worse. Would personally never stay here again and will be staying for longer at Universal in our stay next year.
Just got back after a 6 day trip. The rooms at the Beach Club were nice, and in good condition. The pool area was a little dirty and could use a refresh. My biggest issue with Disney Beach Club though is with the food. There are really only two restaurants (Cape May and Beaches) and BOTH require reservations. Maybe my family is not as normal as everyone else, but having to make a reservation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner just does not fit into the dynamic schedules that we keep when on vacation. This is just crazy that I can't grab a burger from Beaches and go sit at the pool, or get a quick breakfast before heading out for the day. Yes, there is a market where you can get a very small selection of items, but it has no place to sit down and it is just not a resort feel. Very disappointed that we didn't book AK Lodge, Polynesian, or Floridian.
As Disney seems to excel in vacation venues, it's Beach Club resort is exceptional. The grounds are impeccable and the hotel is luxurious. Upon arrival, each guest is greeted with hospitality and efficiency. After spending 4 nights at the sprawling resort, I still wanted to explore the surroundings. Being just walking distance from Epcot, it was quick and convenient to attend the parks. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the boardwalk across the lake for shopping and entertainment. The hotel offers multiple pools, spas, and numerous restaurants. I cannot imagine any guest wanting more. Fantastic resort, would definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family who are planning a trip to Disneyworld.
