Overview
Disney's Port Orleans Resort consists of two themed resorts, the French Quarter and Riverside. Intricate railings, cobblestone streets and courtyards of flowers capture the spirit and romance of New Orleans' French Quarter. Dine on Creole delicacies, plunge into Doubloon Lagoon with its fantastic water slide or relish the Mardi Gras atmosphere. Dazzling detail, bayou excitement and "all that jazz." At Riverside, be surrounded by the tranquility of the Louisiana Bayou as you enjoy the hospitality of a picturesque waterfront Resort hotel that embodies the traditions born of steamboat travel, formal garden parties, and mint juleps on the front porch.

Location: In the Downtown Disney Resort Area with water launches to Downtown Disney; 22 km from the Orlando airport

Lovely hotel

The resort is just the right size, and so charming. The pool is nice, but my 5 year old did not enjoy the splash pad. Even though not my favorite cuisine, the food court is quite nice. The rooms are ok, in line with Disney's moderate resorts. Service was great on all counts.

Our Favorite Getaway

You can't beat French quarter when it comes to moderate Disney resorts. Low crowds, great food, and a great splash pad! The boat is so convenient and the resort isn't huge so your not exhausting walking from one place to the next. Can't wait to be back again in October!

Disney property that offers a more relaxed experience

We stayed for 10 nights at the Disney Port Orleans Resort French Quarter (PORFC) and found it to be a good base for our trip. Having previously stayed at the higher priced Grand Floridian and Polynesian Resorts I was intrigued to see how they compared. I found the PORFC to be a more relaxed hotel which was much quieter and the perfect location to get away from the theme parks. It was made up of pretty little squares and sat on the river, allowing an away from it all feel. The rooms were a decent size, if not a little dark, but were clean and well decorated. The public areas were clean and tidy, with a decent sized theme pool with water slides, a small jaccuzi area, a bar and a souvenir shop. The one thing that let the resort down was the lack of table service restaurant, although there was a small, functional quick service restaurant (which was nothing to write home about). This hotel is not on the monorail system and so transportation to the parks and Disney Springs was mainly by motor coach and we never had to wait more than about 20 minutes when leaving the hotel, although could be longer to get back if leaving the parks at a busy time. There is the option of a 15 minute boat ride to Disney Springs instead of the boat, and you can also catch the boat to the sister hotel (Riverside). There was free wifi throughout the resort but it was patchy at times. I would say this is a decent moderate hotel that is ideal if you are looking for a more chilled out experience. However, the lack of on-site table service restaurant is disappointing. However, it is competitively priced and therefore a good alternative to the more expensive resorts.

Nice Disney Resort to wind down after the Parks

We picked this resort because of it being one of the smaller ones on the Disney grounds. The staff are wonderful and transportation to and from the Parks is easy and convenient. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet even over looking the pool. The pool is shut down by 9:30 pm - so no lingering distractions for resting up for the next day Park trip. I would recommend earplugs to anyone bothered by hotel wall type air conditioner units that are noisy during the night. The only down side to this resort is the food setup. It feels cafeteria / buffet style with the self serve way it is set up. The food is good, but you will find yourself going to Disney Springs for a bit more variety. There is boat ride transportation to Disney Springs from the resort - a nice touch.

Mini Post Wedding GEtaway

My newly minted Bride and I stayed here the day after our wedding in December. It was a nice little get away after the stresses of the wedding. We had a ground floor room with a queen size bed. The room decor looks kind of dated but we had everything we needed. The grounds of the Port Orleans are really pretty. The walkways look just like the garden district of New Orleans and are so quaint. My wife and I would take nightly walks down the walkways just enjoying the evening. We did not get to the pool as we were only there 3 nights and the parks took up most of our days. The boat shuttle to Disney Springs was great. So nice and an easy way to get to the Springs. We only ate breakfast at the restaurant at the resort. It was good food albeit a little pricey, but that,s Disney for you.
