We loved our brief stay here and I was pleasantly surprised with the room. I expected it to be a little dated based on other reviews, but it felt new and clean. Maybe they had already updated that building? There's not much in the way of food options, but we took advantage of the water taxi to Disney Springs for dinner. There was quite a line to come back, but it was only about a 15 minute wait. The pool was nice and the grounds beautiful with everything close by. We definitely preferred it over Coronado Springs.
This hotel with its boat to Disney Springs is a favorite of ours .Single Bus Stop is a plus also . Nice landscaping and pool area.Usually book this place when a good Passholder Rate pops up.Booked a Standard Room this time , Registered Online to skip the front desk .Arrived morning . Received a text that our room was not ready and we would receive another text when it was . Went to the Parks, 4pm still no room ready text . Stopped at the front desk only to find our room still was not ready (4:30pm).They apologised , upgrade us to Garden View . Things happen?
Totally loved our 2 week stay here. Its the smallest of Disneys moderate resorts and is therefore so much easier to get around. We stayed as a family of 4 in October 2017. All the staff were very kind and helpful. The mousekeeping team were amazing, leaving our children frequent suprises! Sassagoula floatworks (the quick service location) was never too busy and the food was of an excellent quality (you have to try the beignets 😚) There is only one bus stop at the french quarter which meant we could always get on and never had to wait too long either. Beautiful place, great location, would totally recommend and also would definitely visit again. Top holiday, thanks all at Port Orleans French Quarter x
Where to begin! Stayed here for 7 nights for Disney marathon. Two adjacent rooms but not adjoining. Very shabby rooms, in need of an update. Housekeeping kept the room very clean. Lighting is terrible. While I appreciate bright lighting in a room, all lights are very bright and illuminate the entire room. No suitable reading light for one person to read while the other rests. Television out of date with limited channels. Mostly Disney related channels. The heat and air conditioning was broken, with no way to control the temperature. Called front desk and they sent someone who changed the batteries in the thermostat but that was not the problem. It was very cold in Florida that week, in the 20's and 30's but the air conditioner just kept turning on. Running continually thru the night. Very difficult to sleep. Food court area is oddly laid out. You have to go to different lines to get different things which I imagine is very difficult if you have small children wanting different things to eat. Food is expensive for the quality. Surly, indifferent staff, particularly the cashiers. One patron dropped a plate of food by our table. Three employees walked by, looked at it and walked away. It was over 10 minutes until someone came and cleaned it up. There is one station that will make food to order and we almost exclusively purchased that food when we ate there, as you could get what you wanted. Other stations had premade items that were not appealing. Beignets were delicious. As is the case with almost every Disney restaurant, choices are expensive for the quality and quantity and service is poor or nonexistent. There is a lack of proper staffing at the front desk. Lines were very long for check out and had to insist to get a paper statement. Bell service is very good. Have always liked that this is one of the smaller properties so while the crowds are overwhelming everywhere else, this property is less crowded. We used the boat service to Disney Springs and that worked well this trip. Bus service involves lengthy waits and that insures crowded busses. The bus service for the various runs was done by contractors, not Disney and this was very good and timely.
This was our fourth stay at POFQ and I write this review saying outright that it is is still our favorite resort to stay in the world, and I don't mean WDW, I mean the world. However, we had a few issues this time which you probably wouldn't notice if it was your first visit but being regulars we did.Firstly, the castmembers were, as always, brilliant. They're so helpful and secured us a brilliant room (we wanted one WITHOUT a connecting door as they are too noisy). We weren't offered the gift card to forego housekeeping though, but we would have taken it if we had been offered. The rooms are the same as always, but I think the beds must have been recently replaced as I slept like a baby for the whole 2 weeks we were there. The little things were noticeable though, no towel animals (a small gesture but something we have always loved on previous visits) and the toiletries in the room no longer have the mickey ears. The grounds were glorious and boat transportation was great as always. However, the bus transportation was absolutely diabolical. Despite having a castmember supposedly controlling the buses on a morning (peak times) it was so unorganised that it almost ruined our holiday. I lost count of how many times we would be waiting for a bus to arrive, only for it to constantly be put back on the notice board and for 2-3 buses for the SAME PARK to arrive, with noone left to get on them (as they'd all been filled on the previous arrival) and the buses weren't repurposed. One evening we had a reservation for 6.30 at Disney Springs, which is literally a 10 minute bus journey. We arrived at the bus stop at 5.30 and by 6.15 the bus STILL hadn't turned up. I did complain to the front desk but it was received with 'oh, we haven't heard there are any problems with buses'. We had to jump in a cab so we wouldn't miss our reservation. It is, of course, further complicated by there being only one stop at this resort but my goodness, sort it out Disney - surely it's common sense that there will be a huge influx of people at the bus stop at park opening times and therefore ensure there are adequate buses!!We are staying at Riverside on our next trip so am hoping the transportation will be better organised. It's such a shame as FQ is perfect otherwise.
