Let me start by saying I have been a Disney Season Passholder for the last 10 years....so maybe my expectations are a little high. We've stayed at all the hotels on property. ALL of them including the Grand Floridian down to the Pop Century. We have also stayed at Port Orleans Riverside at least a dozen times....and LOVE IT. We booked this vacation months in advance for the 4 of us and at the last minute I asked my God Daughter to join us as a babysitter/au pair for our 2 daughters under the age of 13. I called the facility (not 1-407-Wdisney) and was told that I could request a cot when we arrived at the facility. Okay to leave the airbed at home. When we arrived at the facility we weren't out of the car before someone started yelling at us about being dropped off in a red zone. Never happened at the other properties. AND THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER CAR IN SITE....then when we checked in. Not a single person waiting....And the Cast member told us there were no cots, haven't been in years and we were given a lecture on why Disney cannot have cots in the rooms. The Male Manager was on duty behind the cast member about 20 feet. He was listening to every word being said. The Cast Member walked to him and asked if there was help for us. He just shook his head. No apology for being misinformed. Nothing.Just a blank scowl...seriously a scowl. Not even a fake smile. He left the cast member to deal with us. I was understanding and requested extra pillows, sheets, blankets as I now had a child sleeping on the floor. Nope. Have to wait to request those when the room is assigned. We attempted to take a taxi to Epcot and were again accosted by the yelling of the attendant in front. This time one of our party was walking through the parking lot and she didn't want the taxi to wait for us. Our party was less than 20 yards away and she was loud and adamant that we needed all our party with us...we were the only people there..... At 3 we were notified of our room being ready so I called and guess what? They could offer us egg crates for the floor. Fantastic! I was extremely grateful. When we arrived "Home" after Illuminations (10:30-ish) No egg crates, but there was a voice mail. They are sorry, they don't have egg crates. So I called the front desk. Guess what? They don't offer egg crates and I must be mistaken that someone offered them. I requested to speak with the Manager......and spoke this time to a female Manger (Racquel?) and got another lecture about fire codes. I asked why I was offered a cot at 6:30 AM before my trip and now egg crates? But I must be mistaken. The Manager said she'd look into it. We waited...and waited. Nothing so I called back...Much to my surprise I was told by the cast member they could offer me a pull out or blow up mattress. WOW! Great!!! Wait.....the Manager is calling on the other line. I hang up and speak to the Manager excited about what must be her solution. NOPE. She doesn't know what I'm talking about. They don't offer blow up mattresses or pull outs.........I AM SERIOUS. I was raging at this point with crying children. I laid down on the floor in defeat and let the kids have the bed. Around 12:00AM there was a knock at the door. The Manager had arrived with a twin mattress that was brand new and used for the trundle beds at Riverside. I should have slept on that, because the bed mattress was rock hard and I could hardly sleep or walk the entire visit. The food court is also sub-Disney...and a dirty, unorganized mess. The Cast Members appeared miserable.... Just not a good Spring Break folks. Next time....Riverside for sure.
Great hotel for the price. Convenient location, charming small hotel for Disney standard. The kids can walk around alone and you will fell save because of the size of the Hotel.Rooms and facilities are a little outdate but still pleasant. Rooms are nice size.
I visited during the marathon weekend. The main advantage to stay here during the marathon is the efficient and well organized bus system. We were able to catch the bus at the lobby. It took us to the parks before the start of the race.The same on the way back. Easy and convenient.Overall had a great visit.
Location was great, very close to Magic Kingdom and Epcot which is what we did this weekend. The resort has an old world feel so the rooms don't look modern but they do have charm. They have a mini fridge but no microwave. Restaurant on site for food, didn't get to use the pool (too cold) but everything else was nice. We were in building 7 which is pretty far from the dinning area and front desk...so when we had problems with our magic bands we had a hard time getting it worked out and I eventually jogged up there to sort things out. I did like the bus to Epcot, was nice not driving. As you can see from the pics, the bathroom has a separating curtain but the toilet and shower do have a door. The room has a ceiling fan which is nice. Free wifi too.
First time at this resort. Quieter than expected. We were there during actual Mardi Gras. Nice atmosphere the night of but quiet afterwards. Elevator was nearby but not too close. Room good. Food above acceptable limits with small lines to get order.
