Disney's Port Orleans Resort consists of two themed resorts, the French Quarter and Riverside. Intricate railings, cobblestone streets and courtyards of flowers capture the spirit and romance of New Orleans' French Quarter. Dine on Creole delicacies, plunge into Doubloon Lagoon with its fantastic water slide or relish the Mardi Gras atmosphere. Dazzling detail, bayou excitement and "all that jazz." At Riverside, be surrounded by the tranquility of the Louisiana Bayou as you enjoy the hospitality of a picturesque waterfront Resort hotel that embodies the traditions born of steamboat travel, formal garden parties, and mint juleps on the front porch.

Location: In the Downtown Disney Resort Area with water launches to Downtown Disney; 22 km from the Orlando airport

A great place for a base of operations.

My wife and I stayed in building two with a river view.Even though the boats and kids pool was near us we never heard the noise. The great thing about building two was that it was near the food and drinks along with transportation. Can't think of anything bad to say. The beds were comfy and the shower was great.Hope you enjoy your trip.

Great fun had by all

On arrival we asked for and we're given conjoined rooms. 6101/02. Ground floor with garden views. Too be honest I wouldn't be to worried about what view you get. Most rooms are within 5 minute walk to pool / food court and bus stops. Rooms are big enough for two adults and a child, wouldn't want 4 adults sharing for any length of time. The food court is ample size for number of guests. Only issue we had was when a big party of children came in and took over! The food is ok, very big portions but can get repetitive after a few days. We went to Riverside a few times (15 minute walk or you can get internal transfer bus). It's a much larger food court but has greater options. The pool is really nice and they have plenty of life guards. Only issue was the sunbeds getting 'reserved' with towels. Bus service was good, we only went via Riverside once on route to Hollywood Studios. Biggest pain is trying to get to water parks. Blizzard beach is via Animal Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon needs to swap buses at Disney Springs. We ended up driving to these. I would definitely stay here again. Special mention to Bonnie at the security gate, we had great fun chatting to her when returning on an evening. Magic bands are really good, just don't forget to take them with you.

I would definitely recommend!

I stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter for 5 nights with my daughter and my grandchildren. I could not have been happier! The hotel is well located to all the parks so the bus ride is not too long. Rooms are average and resemble New Orleans decor. The beds are comfortable, sheets and towels are clean and the shower was very good. Our 1st floor room in building 3 was well located to the food court, the pool and the bus stops. French Quarter is a smaller resort so walking to everything was not a long walk. The employees are helpful and the lifeguards at the pool are very serious about watching out for all the swimmers. Food at the dining court was quite good and had a good selection and the staff was always helpful. Lots of healthy choices too. The bar made good margaritas! The 2 bus pick up spots were close to the lobby. My grandkids enjoyed the playground, the pool and the arcade. I would recommend for ease of transportation to the parks and the good price.

A Nice Resort in the "Moderate" category

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 3 y.o. and 1 y.o.) stayed at the French Quarter the week before Thanksgiving. This was our first stay at this hotel on the Disney property. We had read that it was similar to Saratoga Springs, but in a more affordable category. Overall, we had a nice stay. The rooms aren't very spacious, which can be troublesome when you need to assemble a pack & play and store a double stroller (plus suitcases and whatnot), but we made it work. Another drawback was that the rooms don't have microwaves. This was a bummer because we often had leftovers from meals but were unable to re-heat and eat them without walking to the restaurant area. Additionally, the main food court was being refurbished during our stay, so the make-shift eating area was always very congested. The main pool and hot tub area are starting to show their age a bit, but the new children's pool and play area is nice. However, the water in the kids pool area was FREEZING; definitely not heated like the main pool. The size of the resort was very nice for a family; easy to get from the bus stops to your room within just a few minutes. The bus service seemed fine to us; we did not ever feel like we had to wait an unreasonably long time. On a few of the mornings, there were staff members in the lobby handing out mardi gras beads and trinkets to the kids, which was very cute and in line with the theme. This hotel is nice enough, nothing particularly fancy, but it gets the job done. If the price was right, I would stay here again; especially when I don't have to bring a stroller along.

Best Disney hotel

Port Orleans French Quarter is a beautiful hotel. It's great for families because the resort grounds are elegant for adults and the pool area is fun for kids. They have a new water play area with sprinklers that looks great for young kids. Pool has a cute water slide also great for younger kids. This hotel is the perfect size. We had a room in building 7. This is one of the furthest from front area with buses, food and drink station, yet still only a 5 minute walk. There is a lovely boat ride to take you to Disney Springs downtown shopping/restaurant area. The food court had no lines or reasonable lines during the busy times. The drink station now has Freestyle Coke machines which we liked a lot. It had so many choices of drinks making the $18 mug well worth our 4 night stay. For Disney theme park buses to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios this resort is the only stop which makes for a quick trip. Animal Kingdom bus stops at all 4 bus stops at Port Orleans Riverside,French quarter is the first stop, but it makes for a longer trip to park. If you take the bus to Disney Springs instead of the boat, it picks up at Port Orleans Riverside first and French Quarter last.
