Disney's Port Orleans Resort
- What's Included
Stayed here June 2017 for 9 nights while we visited Disney. Very sweet theme, sweet decor and nice touches. Ate at the dining court, their food service options were OK. Get a lot of food for your buck! Pool area is nice with a bar. Area was crowded during the day, but understandable for the time of year we went. Nice that you could ride the boat over the Disney Springs area! Would definitely recommend for a family vacation with children or without!
I stayed here with my husband and 2 year old son for 5 days at the beginning of June. It is a nice hotel, the rooms are fairly standard and clean. I wasn't keen on the food court very manic and the food was very average. The pool area is great for kids. I chose this hotel as we could get transfer by boat to Disney Springs. I also liked that we where within walking distance to Riverside. We went to Riverside on the 2nd last day and for us the food court there was preferential and all in all seemed like a better option with children, we will be going back to Disney at some point but if you are swithering between Port Orleans and Riverside I would recommend you chose Riverside.
I planned a trip to WDW on 16 June for a weekend getaway to celebrate my grandson's 6th birthday and my son and his wife's anniversary. I've stayed at the Port Orleans several times now, and I'm always amazed each time at how elegant and serene the atmosphere is, particularly on this property. The grounds are kept in pristine condition, and the pride of the cast members who serve the guests is apparent in everything they do. The pool area has undergone a recent renovation and now includes a splash pad for the kids who don't necessarily swim. My grandkids loved it and opted to spend some time at the resort instead of the parks! My only complaints - and they're admittedly minor - are the lack of a full-service restaurant at the French Quarter and a beverage only checkout line at the food court. For people like me who just want a cup of coffee in the morning and not breakfast, a beverage only line would go a long way to ensure our mood didn't sour having to fight the mobs with overflowing trays of a la carte food items that all have to be rung up separately. Otherwise, this resort is my absolute favorite and will continue to be my preferred destination on the WDW property.
I've stayed in several Disney hotels, the last time at the Caribbean, which is the largest Disney resort, so I decided to stay this time at the smallest...and what a difference!! Wow!! Everything was in easy reach from food court, shop, bus stop swimming pool, boat to Disney Springs, all within a few minutes walk. The hotel is set up in New Orleans style and is fabulous. The rooms are clean and adequate. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food court was convenient and had lots of options, we tried the food court at our neighboring hotel, Riverside, one day, and really appreciated how compact and quaint our little food court really was and how fabulous it was to just have the one bus stop opposed to lots of different stops. Would definitely stay here again and may never go back to a bigger resort!!! My only disappointment was that in all other Disney resorts I have stayed in the "mousekeeping" always does something a little magical in the rooms, but there was nothing, especially disappointing as I was with a first timer and wanted them to experience "mousekeeping" fun.
Stayed here for 4 days the end of March and loved it. Beautiful property that made me think I was in New Orleans with all the attention to detail. We were in building 1 which was down by the water and a very short 5 min walk to pool/food court/boat dock. There is plentiful parking close to each building which are 3 levels with a central elevator and open stairways. We spent a day at the pool which was very nice with lounge chairs and lots of ability to find shade. Towels were readily available as well as restrooms and a pool bar with great drinks. Took the boat over to Disney Springs several times... tried to take the bus back but the bus terminal at Disney Springs is terrible... there is no cast member supervision so if it rains it's a free for all... no line because none of the ropes are up and everyone just pushes and shoves... we went back to the boats which were calm and well managed. We ate several times at the food court and enjoyed everything we had. There are several stations that make items to order. We had pasta dishes 1 night and had a lovely conversation with the chef and returned about 5 hrs later for some ice cream with beignets (which are AWESOME) and he saw us and came over to talk to us again... specifically asked how we liked our pasta dishes. We went up to Riverside 1 night to see YeeHaw Bob perform... DO NOT MISS HIM.... absolutely 1 of the best entertainers at Disney. Did not go to the front desk at all so can't speak to that... I checked in online and already had my magicbands so they messaged me when my room was ready and all the details. Our bands opened the door without any problem. Checkout was expedited since I had my credit card on file so no need to go to the front desk then either.I did buy some things in the parks and had them delivered to the resort, you go to the store to pick them up... no problems with that either. My only complaint (which I have with most hotels) is the size of the bathroom...Why do they never give you enough room. The tub/shower knobs were up by the toilet and there was no room to walk up to it so I ended up putting the lid down to sit on it in order to adjust the temp of the water. There were 2 sinks that were outside the toilet and shower/tub as well as a rod to hang clothes. I would definitely stay here again.
