Overview
Disney's Port Orleans Resort consists of two themed resorts, the French Quarter and Riverside. Intricate railings, cobblestone streets and courtyards of flowers capture the spirit and romance of New Orleans' French Quarter. Dine on Creole delicacies, plunge into Doubloon Lagoon with its fantastic water slide or relish the Mardi Gras atmosphere. Dazzling detail, bayou excitement and "all that jazz." At Riverside, be surrounded by the tranquility of the Louisiana Bayou as you enjoy the hospitality of a picturesque waterfront Resort hotel that embodies the traditions born of steamboat travel, formal garden parties, and mint juleps on the front porch.

Location: In the Downtown Disney Resort Area with water launches to Downtown Disney; 22 km from the Orlando airport

Wonderful experience.

Great rooms great location, took advantage of the water taxi to Disney springs. All buses go strait to the parks, no extra stops. Friendly staff and beautiful grounds. Took advantage of the hot tub and pool side bar. I would definitely recommend the meal plan, you get your moneys worth.

Relaxing & Less Hectic Disney Resort

My wife and I and our 21 year old daughter spent a week at the French Quarter Resort and really liked it. It felt much less crowded and busy than some of Disney's larger resorts and we liked that. The boats to Disney Springs and back were very convenient and we enjoyed that. No issues with service and beds were very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Still think it is the best of the moderates and a lot better than Value Resorts..

Stayed here years ago..and last year stayed at Riverside. The thing I like the best about this resort is that it is not a far walk really from any of the buildings. Maid service was good. Resort has a nice Disney feel to it...without going over the top. Staff is friendly. Got our room at about 11:00a.m. and had a text and indication in the APP that it was available. Magic bands worked great and luggage was in room...even the carry-ons we had left with bell service. Was nice to always be greeted by a man at the door when coming or going. Boat ride to Disney Springs is very nice. Did not like that part of the time we had to share a bus with Riverside...but bus transportation was really not too bad at all. Only reason it gets a four instead of a five is that the rooms kind of need an update. But there was coffee in the room....two bottles of shampoo, two bottles of conditioner and two soaps and enough towels. Made the dumb mistake at staying at All Star Sports after leaving here and spending some time at the beach. That place is a dump with horrible customer service. Magical Express was great...and phone calls about it were great...did not get those or documents at the Sports hotel. This is my favorite moderate resort...and would not hesitate to stay here again. Pool is also very nice.

Fantastic (& I am picky)

We used magical express service which was very good. Porters brought our bags to our room very promptly, within 20 minutes. Rooms good size and very well laid out. We were a party of 2 adults, 2 kids and an infant in a cot. I felt we had lots of space, more than in 4/5 * hotel family rooms in Ireland & uk (we have stayed in many). Beds comfortable and linen changed regularly. Bathroom small, wouldn't be possible for an adult to have a comfortable bath but fine to wash the kids. Double Sinks outside bathroom and lots of space around vanity for storage of lotions & potions. Quality of toiletries was more than expected. I use high end shampoo & conditioner but left it at home. Hotel shampoo was excellent as was conditioner. They can be a bit stingy with it but I am sure more would be brought if asked. We used the laundrette. It's very easy to use. Bring detergent from home as it's expensive to purchase on site. Pool and slides great. Splash area excellent for little ones, although be careful of the splash bucket as I saw several toddlers wiped off their feet by it. Lots of lifeguards. Swim jackets & plenty of towels available at pool so no need to bring own. The resort is very peaceful with lots of space for kids to run around. Great after a day at the parks with wall to wall people. The food at the on site restaurant was good-it's quick service & it's served hot & very tasty. I am very picky & love my fine dining & I thought it was good.We had the refill mugs included in our package. The refill machines are very easy to use and you can wash your mug beside them. We were on the dining plan & had a character dining every day. Akerhaus was great. 1900 park fare was second favourite but chip n sale breakfast in Epcot was really fab. Book these well in advance. Kids loved them. It's very hard to use all the food. We were on the regular dining plan and brought home lots of snack credit sweets as presents (which you can get in the hotel gift shop). I would definitively stay here again without hesitation. We visited the grand Floridian & the contemporary both were nice but very busy. This resort it so chilled out in comparison. On a side note we flew into Orlando airport, very busy & very difficult to navigate around. We arrived to the resort stressed out. We were checked in by Rosemarie. Cynical me nearly cried with gratitude at how wonderful this lady was. She gave the kids stickers, wishing coins, Mardi Gras beads and then gave us lots of helpful info.

Lovely resort for first time visit to Disney

Our travel agent helped us pick our hotel and recommended this one for the size, location and value. We arrived around dinner time with a smooth check in. We could have done online check in but I wanted to talk to someone first! We got our exact room that we requested after seeing photos online. Garden view, close to the pools, bus stop, lobby and restaurant. Building 5. My husband wanted an upper floor in case he would hear people above. We heard no one the whole week. He chose to lug the stroller up the stairs rather than take the elevator at the opposite end of the building. We ate our one and only meal of the week at the quick service restaurant on site after we checked out our room. The food was okay - hence why we didn't eat here again. However, the beignets were yummy! Our room was a good size for a moderate hotel. I was worried it was going to be smaller actually. We got our stuff organized and suitcases out of the way. The double sinks with shelving below were very helpful. The curtain across the sink/closet area was good for dimming the room while kids were trying to fall asleep while parents are trying to get ready for the following day! The room was clean and kept tidy throughout the week. We requested early housekeeping so we could come back for a nap mid-day and every day, this was accomplished. There is only one bus stop at the resort which is helpful - you don't have to wait as the bus only goes to and from your resort. The buses were about every 20 minutes and we always managed to time our departure well. The pool area was large with plenty of seats and lots of fun decor and activities. My daughter was too tall to hang out in the splash pad area so we always had to split up, a parent with a kid.I really enjoyed the small town feel of this resort and if given the opportunity to go back to Disney, I would stay here again!
