Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- What's Included
We stayed in the Treehouse area. Perfect set up for out family of four and my sister-in-law, husband and baby. I really like the quiet in the treehouse area. You can't hear anyone else while in your unit. There is a pool very close by, a few minutes walk. Then there is the larger pool/splash pad/waterslide which is about a 15-minute walk or a short drive. Lots of entertainment for young kids at the pool - music, crafts, games. Sometimes a little noisy for the adults though. The units could use a little TLC. Two or three burned out lightbulbs, the door to one of the bathrooms was a little wonky.Full kitchen is a big plus. The unit is a master bedroom, a bedroom with a queen, a bedroom with a bunk bed, two full baths, the kitchen and a living room. Lots of TVs.We have stayed here twice and would certainly come back again. Staff on site is very helpful and responsive.
I am a Disney Vacation Club member. We stayed at a 2-bedroom villa this trip for 4 nights. The 2-bedroom villa included 2 full bathrooms and a full kitchen, with a few pots, pans, cooking utensils, silverware, and glassware, and 3 TVs, which I wasn't expecting, but makes sense since there are 3 main rooms. We actually spent 2 of our days cheating on Disney visiting Legoland, since my nephews have been to Disney more times than any of us can count (and we didn't have tickets). We did, however, visit the Community Hall on our first morning, where my nephew painted a ceramic Mickey mug, of which I still haven't seen the final product. There's also xbox one and ps4 game consoles, coloring, pool (the billiard kind), ping pong, and a few other things to do in the community hall. There are four pools, two of which are 24-hour pools. We only used the one right next to our room in the Paddock. The pool had a beach style entry and only got to about 4 feet deep. There is a big slide in the main pool and a separate kid's play area for children under 48" tall with a smaller slide and jungle gym type stuff. On our third full day, we spent the day at the resort. Every Thursday morning in 2017 at 8:00 a.m., there is a 1.44 mile fun run called the Derby Dash, which me and my nephew ran. They provided some post run snacks and water. After breakfast, my nephews went swimming again while I supervised. Then, after lunch, I took a nap since I had slept on the sofa that night, and nephews and dad went back to the community hall to pick up the Mickey mug and play some games or whatever they did. We had plans to go swimming again after dinner, but of course they had the pools closed because of inclement weather. While we didn't visit Disney Springs this trip, it would be helpful to note that it is right next door to Saratoga Springs. I believe there is boat and/or bus transportation, but it's so close, it may be faster at times just to walk there, especially if you're in the Paddock or Congress Park.
I went to Disney Land for my cousins birthday and this hotel really helped us get around to see all we wanted to! The resort was lovely and big, with good food that would last you through the day. It's not the type of resort though that you would be happy in all day, but if you are planning to go somewhere most days it's an exceptionally good choice! The only down factor I found was that depending on your room placement you had to travel further and further distances to reach buses that would take you to the Disney parks and I wish the bus positions were closer to all the branches of the resort. Overall a great holiday and would definitely recommend this resort!!
We had our first DVC style stay at Saratoga Springs. We had a crowd of 8 and loved our room. We had two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a washer and dryer. It was quite a nice space. We were not fans of the bed spreads. There was no fluffy duvet or comforter so that was lackluster. If you need soft and cozy to go to sleep, bring a blanket. If/when we come back to this resort I will bring a fleece throw for me. The amenities were great. We loved the pools, even though the toddler/ little kid play area was closed at the pool closest to us. There are signs posted at the bus stops for how long until the next bus came. Sometimes the waits would grow a little shorter, while sometimes they would get a little longer. This is a great feature if you have any friends lagging behind in your party. Sometimes we bused, while others we drove. Parking is free at the parks for those staying on property. It just depended on how long we were going to be there. If we opened a park we liked to drive and leave the car there all day. We would take a midday break at the hotel via bus and then go back. At park close we could hop in the car for an easy exit with no transportation woes. It is walking distance to Disney Springs which two in our party did one evening. But you can drive there super quick if you need to as well. We loved what this place had to offer.
RoomsAlways very clean, spacious and comfy. Plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. Laundry services in apartments. Bathrooms are a little dark and gloomy but clean and have everything you need. Double sinks for couples so that you don't get in each others way. A well stocked kitchen (with large fridge) and a balcony area to relax and have your morning coffee. DiningAll of the restaurants are very pricey being on Disney property. The food just isn't good enough to keep you there and we always venture off property to eat. As this resort is so close to Disney Springs, you can just walk there instead (Approx 10mins from the nearest building).Normally, we'll hire a cab or drive to palm parkway which has a larger and cheaper selection of good food and cater well for families. As you have a well stocked kitchen, I advise that you take a trip to a local supermarket to get the essentials and cook a couple of meals yourself. If you buy some meat, you can take it to the pool area and cook on the free barbecues.I will give a big thumbs up for the breakfasts which I make sure I have every single day there. They do a great big breakfast that includes Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, waffle, biscuit (A SCONE!) and breakfast potatoes. Needed if you're going to walk around the parks all day.As for drinking, well this is a family resort and it doesn't look encouraged. Some of the other resorts keep the pool bar open late but this one closes very early. You can always walk to Disney Springs if you would like a couple of drinks and then there are areas just a cab ride away.Facilities & EntertainmentFree Wi-Fi.A very impressive Gym. Spa. Two dining areas. The Artists palette and the Grill. A large pool, many smaller pools and plenty of hot tubs. Lots of areas for families with children. Its worth noting that if you are a couple with no children and you need relaxing and quiet time, there are areas you can go and have that. The bar just around the corner from the Artists Palette has a free pool table. There is an Arcade as well that includes some of the classics and a few new additions. As this is the closest resort to Disney Springs this is just a short walk away so i'll include this as a bonus.GroundsAlways immaculate, clean and beautiful. Surrounded by a golf course the resort is always very lush and green. Lots of lakes and water features. Bridges for great photo ops. The main reason I love this resort is because of the grounds. You can even hire a bike to ride around and there is a boat service that takes you to many spots around Disney property. You can also walk to the tree houses from here.StaffBrilliant of course and very helpful. If anything breaks or you need anything, service arrives pretty quickly.
