Disney's Yacht Club Resort
- What's Included
My family did a quick trip to Disney over a long weekend and were among the first guests to enjoy the newly renovated club level ("Regatta") rooms and lounge. Wow! The renovations to the rooms and lounge are awesome, and well worth it. We typically go to Disney every two years and always stay at Yacht Club on Club Level so we're familiar with the lounge and rooms. This was a great overhaul and really focused on guest comfort. The lounge is much more open and can fit more people. Same great snacks throughout the day. The rooms are so much better. Easy example is now all AC outlets also have USB charging ports.Don't know how Disney does it but while there was construction going on it never bothered us. If it wasn't for seeing the construction workers we would have known they were doing renovations. Highly recommend Yacht Club and staying on Club Floor.
Disney organization is unparalleled From the precheckin to the the transportation from the airport to the bracelets that track your every movement. As a family vacation spot you can't go wrong because all the worry and hassle is taken out of it. In addition to the organization, the other thing that stood out was Internet access. For a Hotel/Resort it was incredibly good everywhere. Only issue we had is rooms on both sides were full of screaming children and hot water seemed to be a premium. Its disney though so I guess that is to be expected. Being able to check bags for the airline at the hotel is an amazingly innovative idea. Las Vegas should learn from from this place.
Shabby would not be an exaggeration of the condition of our room and much of the hotel. Have stayed here at least a half-dozen times in previous years; it's well past time for a do-over. Rugs, drapes, wallpaper, paint tired and worn out. Still has nice amenities like Lazy River pool, decent restaurants. Staff lived up to Disney standards. Would hate to see this place slip even more.
I and my family have visited Disney many, many times. I have stayed in the majority of Disney properties at one point or another. In my experience Disney does not go too far out of their way to satisfy a guest with a complaint unless an issue is made of something. My feeling is they tend to rely on the fact they are Disney after all and so most families will deal with it, regardless. Last month I brought my family to sty at the Yacht Club Resort. We booked a Florida resident rate. While there was a disclaimer the hotel was under going refurbishment on the website, there were some issues. The room we were given was directly underneath heavy construction which was going on. While the room was tasteful in décor and clean I was dismayed to see a discarded beer can right off the side of our outside balcony. It was perhaps thrown down by one of the workers. This is not something you expect to see or appreciate when staying in an "upscale" Disney property. Then there was the construction noise. My family returned from the parks after 5pm for a nap. While lying in bed we were privy to "heavy" construction going on right above our heads..complete with hammers and power tools. I called guest services only to be put off and told it should stop soon. Really!? When paying $300 per night for a room that ambiguous and somewhat dismissive response took me back. I went down to the front desk. Kristen who was the front office manager on duty listened attentively. I explained the room should not have been part of open inventory with heavy construction going on at that particular time. Kristen then did what would be expected. She refunded a room night and asked if she could move us to another room. This renewed my faith :). My advise to anyone who experiences a genuine issue at Disney is to not be put off. Complain and demand what you pay for or you will be herded like cattle in order to keep the cogs moving.
First, the pools and layout are very nice at this resort. Plenty of nice places to eat at Yacht Club and Beach Club which are next to each other. The staff was friendly everywhere we went on the property. The room was certainly dated, which has to be the reason it is undergoing renovation. The only troubling aspect was housekeeping. The carpet was not well vacuumed when we arrived with bits of tissue and paper on the floor. There were red stains on the carpet which appears permanent, but the paper and tissue were disturbing. I always carry antibacterial wet wipes to wipe down the room, and I was disappointed to pick up yellow from the floor next to the toilet. No Kleenexes the first night, but they were placed in the room on the second.Better cleaning and it would have been excellent.
