Disney's Yacht Club Resort
- What's Included
This was our 5th trip to Disney. Our last experience (staying off property) was not a good experience, and my family was hesitant to come back. We have stayed at other Disney properties over the year -- All Star Sports, Coronado, Art of Animation -- and the last time off property. We were really torn between the Boardwalk, Yacht Club, and the Beach Club. We tried to find various posts about the differences between them and ultimately decided upon the Yacht Club. For anyone wanting to know the difference: We visited all three locations, and this is our favorite. The Boardwalk has no grass outside -- it is all "boards" for the Boardwalk, It was a good 10 degrees or more hotter outside the building and in front of the stores. There is also no central lobby at the Boardwalk. It was about 5 minutes closer to Hollywood Studios but also a little longer to EPCOT. The Beach Club advantage is the 2-3 minutes closer to EPCOT. It never has as much of a discount as Boardwalk or Yacht Club, either. If you pay extra to stay near EPCOT, you will see the fireworks from your home. We did see more young children at Beach Club, but there were still plenty of kids at Yacht Club. The video arcade is at Beach Club and not at Yacht Club.We arrived in Orlando the night before and then started our Disney trip early by arriving at Disney's Yacht Club around 8:15am. We unloaded our bags and had a room immediately! The lobby staff was extremely friendly. While we had hoped for a room near the elevators, it was nice to get our bags up to the room before we headed out to the parks. On other occasions, we really didn't spend much time at our resort. We were off to the parks and only came back to change or sleep. This trip was different. Having seen everything before, we wanted a different experience where we could enjoy our favorite parts of each park but be close enough to come back and relax at our room., enjoy the amenities that were offered, and still be close enough to head somewhere else if we wanted to.I must say, this location is absolutely perfect! We were checked in, stowed our bags in our rooms, and walking into EPCOT within 30 minutes of arrival! We were so excited that we took advantage of our location and went to EPCOT every single morning of our stay! While everyone told us the walk was 5 minutes, it was really more like 10 for us. The entrance to EPCOT is between France and England -- so to get to SOARIN or the TEST TRACK, it will take another 10-15 minutes after you enter the park to walk there.Hollywood Studios may be within walking distance, but it really is best to take the boat there. It is more like a 20 minute walk. When it is 90 degrees outside, that can get pretty hot and uncomfortable. The Yacht Club is undergoing a remodel and expansion, and we were aware of this before the trip. The store (with pastries, a small grill, snacks, and drinks) was nicely set up. The snacks were pretty good. Our only complaint was that it closed a couple of nights earlier than the posted time (by about 20 minutes.)We read about the long hallways. Yes, they are long, but they are manageable. There is one centrally located elevator. It is FAST. And, we could understand why the elevator was there -- it is the best place to trek from -- whether catching a meal, a boat ride, or even walking, it was centrally located near the lobby of the building. Our rooms were beautiful! It had to be very newly renovated. The room next door was still being renovated (the noise was only during the day and did not bother us.) The shower--huge with a waterfall showerhead and a handheld! The sink area with two sinks and a shelf for our stuff! The decor-modern and beautiful! The hardwood floors-very classy and felt so much cleaner! The balcony--nicely sized with two chairs, a table, and not a bad view! WOW! What a step up from the other Disney resorts we have stayed at. My family took advantage of the lazy river and water slide. While I am not a swimmer, my husband and sons thought it was great fun. The lazy river is really not very big. The slide seemed to be the clear winner for fun. They also tried the single pool on the other side of the resort. It was so quiet (only 3 people were there!) and they felt like they almost had a private pool. The wi-fi was fine both in our room, in the lobby, and on the balcony. We stayed on the 4th floor. There was a refrigerator and a coffee pot (brews k-cups.)If there were negatives, one would be the temporarily located "shop" in the lobby. It wasn't very big, but we recognize it was temporary and would be relocated soon. The other was that our cleaning staff never cleaned our rooms before 2pm. We did not get our soaps replenished, but there were carts in the hall so we found what we needed. On one of the days, my son fell near the buses. The manager, Luis, was very helpful. He went above and beyond to make sure he was ok. Luis even sat and visited with our family for over 20 minutes while my son iced his leg. He also gave us passes for some rides we missed. His personal service really topped off a trip that was going so well. Bravo, Luis!! Thank you so much! Our family has decided this will be our "go to" Disney property from now on. We love everything about this hotel and are so glad we tried it!
Just back from a nine day stay at Disneys Yacht Club. Our family of five stayed in the one room for the duration. I must say this was the part I was most dreading, all being used to our own space. The newly renovated room made this totally feasible however. There was plenty of storage space for all of our unpacking. Our cases fitted easily under the beds. The addition of sliding doors separated the sink area from the room and gave extra privacy. The sliding door on the bathroom as well gave much more room. We had a lovely sized balcony overlooking the boardwalk, where we sat out at night enjoying the atmosphere and view. Lets face it, there is so much to do in Disney that you really do spend very little time in the room, other than sleeping. It was great having a café now in the Yacht Club for drinks refills and breakfast items, instead of having to trek across to the Beach Club. All in all we had a fantastic stay here and would definitely return.
The pool is the best part about this place on top of the location. It has sand in it like a beach and has a large area where a 3 year old can stand in the water and play. They also have several slides which are fun for everyone! The water feels great too. The location is perfect. You are close to 2 parks and the boardwalk. Transportation by boat or bus is easily accessible. There are plenty of places to eat and a nice fitness center. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. From check in to check out they made you feel special. The rooms were nice with big comfy beds and a large tv were great for winding down. They also had a larger shower and bathroom area. We loved this place and will definitely be back.
After dinner at Cape May Cafe, we went on a fire works cruise on a pontoon boat. Jerry gave us a Magical Moment and we were so surprised by his generosity and we were shocked by his kindness. Jerry commandeered the boat and he was the most friendly and knowledgeable Disney employee I have ever come in contact with. Jerry kept us informed of all of the safety procedures on the boat and what we could and could not do.First we got a tour of the area surrounding the boardwalk and Jerry pointed out tips about the different bars and restaurants. Then we went over to Epcot and parked next to five other boats and had an amazing and extremely exciting view of the Epcot fireworks. Jerry even help take some pictures of us while the fireworks were going off. He also provided information about Epcot that we did not know. The boat had snacks and beverages on it that you could eat and drink, and even take when you get off if you wanted. Then Jerry asked if we wanted to see the Star Wars fireworks and Hollywood Studios and we motored over there. Jerry pointed out facts about the hotels along the way and some of the rides at Hollywood Studios. We first saw the end of Fantasmic through some trees, and got there right when Mickey was coming out. Then we faced the entrance of Hollywood Studios and saw the Star Wars fireworks. It was a totally different view than from watching it inside the park, but we loved it. This entire experience was absolutely fantastic and Jerry was the reason why it was a complete and wonderful Magical Experience & Moment. Anyone who has the chance to have Jerry take them on a fireworks cruise will be totally and completely satisfied and happy. Ask for Jerry if you ever take a fireworks cruise from the Yacht and Beach Club.
After 9 trips to Disney, I can say that this resort is maybe the best stay I've ever had! Everything about Disney that I've grown to expect was exceeded on this trip. The service and staff (cast members) make every Disney trip wonderful. I had to call the front desk a few times for items left behind at home and they went above and beyond each time! Great place to stay and I can't wait to return!
