Disney's Yacht Club Resort
- What's Included
Our family of 5 stayed in one room here in late July. I was initially concerned that we would struggle for space, but the room was of an adequate size for us. In particular it was great to have a fridge to store food & drinks - we made packed lunches to try to save money when visiting the parks. The staff at reception were very helpful and efficient and the lobby area is spacious and impressive. We stayed here on a room only basis and didn't use any of the restaurants in this hotel. However we did make use of the shop next to the lobby to buy food & drinks occasionally. It was relatively expensive but nice food.Early in our stay we decided to get a taxi to a nearby supermarket to stock up on food for breakfast & lunch and this helped to keep to our budget for a few days. The hotel recommended that we use an online service from Gardengrocer, which has an arrangement with Disney hotels. I did look on their site, but found that the prices were quite high & delivery fees very expensive. One important thing to note about this hotel is that it is vast- long, long walks to reach your room. It certainly helped to keep our number of daily steps up!The hotel shares some facilities with the neighbouring beach club hotel and we enjoyed using the pools - lots of different depths, shapes & sizes. We found it quite easy to find sunbeds in the shade & the staff were very friendly & helpful. A note of caution about the whirlpool/ Rapids section - this is very deep and is fine for confident strong swimmers - not good for small kids as they can flip their inflatable ring & end up submerged beneath other rings/ people. Essential for parents to closely supervise young kids in this area.We also made good use of the laundry which is surprisingly good value- large machines which are activated by debit/ credit card payments. This hotel is a 10 minute walk from Epcot, which we visited several times for our evening meals- it was great to try different cuisines and we had some really lovely experiences here. You can also take a boat from the hotel to this park, across the lake to the boardwalk area and to Hollywood studios. The weather in late July was very hot and we enjoyed the air conditioning in the room! There were a couple of thunderstorms during the week - at one point they evacuated the poolside area for this reason. The storms did not have too much of an impact on our holiday. At the front of the hotel are bus stops to take you to the other Disney parks - note that there are no direct buses to the water parks and you have to go to one of the other parks & transfer. Also, buses to and from the Magic kingdom can get very busy - particularly when there are numerous buggies and motorised wheelchairs. All of the drivers are very patient and helpful - some are very entertaining. We felt very spoilt to have good wifi access throughout the hotel & across all the park areas. Another useful tip is to use the Disney app to book fast passes, reserve restaurant, check wait times, see photos etc.The only issue we had with this hotel was the intermittent room cleaning. With 5 of us in one room, we did need the room to be refreshed each day, but this did not always happen. In particular, the floor got very dusty & gravelly- didn't seem to be swept at all during the week. The balcony area was never cleaned and we were disappointed to not have enough glasses or cups for all of us. I had brought plastic bowls & cutlery so that we could make our own breakfast & lunch, but I didn't think I would need to bring cups too. The coffee machine in the room prepares drinks that are fairly unpleasant- no other way to make a hot drink/ boil water in the room. Finally, there was a great selection of toiletries provided initially, but many of these were not replaced during our stay when they ran out.Overall, this was a pleasant hotel and we really enjoyed our holiday.
When we got there the check in was easy . After we got our room everything was perfect. The service there is beyond explenation. Any thing you want is at you Trip to epcot is a 20 minute walk and you are at the back entrance. Not crouded at the back entrance. A good place for kids and addults.
This is my hotel of choice when staying in Disney. I have stayed here at least 10 times and each time was wonderful but the rooms were getting dated and the remodel is wonderful. I love the dark woods and wood tile and the compartmentalized closet is fabulous. We stayed on the club level again and the food was even improved. I think it was better than the Grand Floridian's options at club as well. I forgot to take pictures but I have seen some that were posted on YouTube. This hotel is a better option for adults (in my opinion). It seems there are more children on the Beach club side. Keep in mind it is a bit longer walk to the back of Epcot but still closer walk than the Boardwalk.
I have stayed at many WDW resorts over the years and this one is a favorite, excellent restaurants and within walking distance of Epcot. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful with any and all requests. This is becoming my "GO TO" resort.
I needed to book a room for a last minute trip to Disney and I found a reasonable rate for a weekend at the Yacht Club. I have stayed multiple times at the Boardwalk Resort so I knew the area around there would be great for easy access to Epcot and lots of food choices. Check-in was super easy, I had updated everything ahead of time for online check-in and my room was ready before I got off the Magical Express bus at the resort. I highly recommend doing online check-in, you save time by bypassing the front desk and almost every time I have done it, my room has been ready between noon and 2pm. The resort is undergoing renovations, but I never heard any construction noise or was bothered by any inconvenience. I was lucky enough to get one of the recently refurbished rooms. Size is very similar to other Disney resorts, nice hardwood or laminate floors, comfortable beds, bathroom had separate sink and shower/toilet areas. There was a double sink, lots of towels and nice toiletries. We had coffee and breakfast sandwiches in the morning at the cafe in the lobby. The price was not cheap but its Disney and the coffee was good and the sandwiches were actually quite big. We did not eat dinner at the resort as we had reservations at Ohana at the Polynesian (that dinner is worth every penny!). We went to Epcot which is so easy to get to by walking to the back gate. I also enjoyed morning runs along the boardwalk and the sidewalk to Hollywood Studios. Staying in one of the Boardwalk Hotels is going to cost you more than the budget or moderate resorts, but it's my favorite place to stay at Disney. Two out of four parks are walkable and it's an easy bus ride to AK or MK. Definitely worth it, if you can do it.
