Disney's Yacht Club Resort
- What's Included
Disney is always amazing but I wasn't feeling the theming here. It has lower ceilings to make you feel like you're in a boat and its dark with lots of dark wood and deep colors. I prefer the Beach Club since its light and airy. But the service is always amazing and I love its location so close to Epcot. And NOTHING beats its pool, the best!
First time visit with family. Hotel looks stunning from the backside / water are and the overall theming is excellent. Not sure of the sailor type uniforms for the lobby staff however but it does all tie together fairly well. Spacious lobby, Bright and airy feel with lots of nautical items. Excellent staff and nice greeting and welcome. Got given the Disney induction, magic bands and several maps etc and off we went to find the room. Crikey.....Now I realise how large this place actually is. We had requested a family suite - basically 2 doubles + day bed and if possible a view of the lagoon / bay. We got all that so big thumbs up but I have never walked so far to a hotel room ever. That's not a bad thing. Just a big surprise and likely because I have never stayed in a hotel that is so spread out. You basically walk to the lifts and go upto the second floor. Then you walk down a looooong corridor, turn around a corner...walk down another loooooong corridor ( 100m + ), turn 90 degrees, walk down yet another loooong corridor and think..We should be close...Guess what..Turn the corner and yet another long corridor. By now I was thinking was I still in the same hotel or had I walked the wrong way into the adjoining beach club resort. After several more corners and several more hikes we found the room. Nice room. Fairly spacious with enough room to sleep 5 people. Clean and tidy and a lovely lovely view over the water to the boardwalk. However good the view was, it didn't make up for the bloke above us who appeared to be attempting to drill through the ceiling followed by jumping up and down and sounds akin to dragging a sack of coal across the room. I had been forewarned in a letter that improvements were happening but didn't take too much notice. This was around 4.30pm and the letter did say it would stop by 5pm. We had a double vanity outside the main bathroom and I popped into the bath to try out the taps - it's a wierd thing I do in each hotel - attempting to figure out the bath / shower combination to see how it works before the kids flood everything. Turned on the tap..Loud gurgling followed by a lot of brown water - I kid you not..Ran it for about 10 seconds and it came clear. I was starting to wonder what Disney meant by ' deluxe' when they marketed this hotel. Put it down to not being run in a while but decided not to drink it just in case. Sat on the bed, got excited by the view then heard this clattering coming from under the TV. Would appear the fridge compressor is on it's way out. Every few minutes, buzzing, followed by a small man rattling empty tin cans around inside the cupboard, then back to normal fridge hum. That got unplugged shortly after. So off we went for a walk. The property is lovely and has been lanscaped into the area exceptionally well. The jetty out to the boat pickup points, the wooden walkway, the very good pools all add to the ambience and make you feel at home. Came back later that day to a phone message saying they had been working on the pipes and the water may be turned off at certain points during the day and may also be discolored upon first use so that explained the earlier issues. The fittings inside the room were functional and clean but it's apparent they were installed back when the building was first built. Very little in the way of useable plug sockets so glad we brought little usb multi sockets for charging items. The aircon was functional but limited and relied upon a lever being pushed left to right. It looked kind of 70's with it's golden plastic cover. The in room safe had a big key - I've only ever seen the digital lock version in hotels prior to this and was about 2 inches deep so everything kind of went in standing up with little room to spare. Overall I still rate this as very good given we had such a lovely time and experience here. The overall ambience and location for Epcot made up for the dated and lower quality room interior. If I was being pickier it would be a low average based on the dated interiors. I'd also just arrived from 5 days at Hard Rock Hotel Universal which is light years ahead with regards room quality, functionality etc. It is difficult for me to understand how Disney prices and evaluates this as deluxe. If this is meant to be their top end and it certainly cost that, I wouldn't want to see what the low end / budget looked like. Your mileage may of course vary. We would certainly return given its location and overall theming with the surrounding resorts.
I was at Disney's Yacht Club Resort for a conference, and found it to be a better hotel than the Beach Club next door (where I stayed last year). The Yacht Club was closer to the conference facility, and the room was far more comfortable despite the dated design. Pros: - Comfortable bed;- Spotlessly clean, including the bathroom;- Though the furniture was dated, it was all in good repair;- Decent sized balcony with a nice view of green space; - Friendly staff;- Free wi-fi with good signal strength throughout the property; - Quiet (though this could be because I was placed on a floor among fellow conference attendees, most of whom did not have kids with them; I feel sorry for anyone near the ice machine because it was LOUD!); and - Includes access to a great-looking pool - though I did not use it.Cons: - My room was extremely far from the elevator, and getting there felt like walking through a maze. The building layout was not well thought out; - Limited food options and slow room service (I appreciated being warned before ordering). Conference food was poor; - The general temperature of the building was extremely cold (even the conference area) though it was only early spring. The thermostat in the room worked (including the heat, which I had on), but it did not have any temperature markings on it so it was hard to get the room to a comfortable setting; and- As mentioned, dated decor, which includes a dark and uninviting lobby area. I also felt sorry for the staff for having to wear terrible "sailor" uniforms. While this hotel was fine and I wouldn't mind staying again for another conference, I definitely wouldn't consider it a "deluxe" offering (as labelled by Disney).
I've gone to Disney about 10 times. This by far was the worst vacation I have ever had. First, I was told that when I arrived I could go straight to the park. Unfortunately, they didn't link my credit card correctly and I was unable to purchase lunch. So, I returned to my hotel to try to check in. They said they had a king room available with a pull out couch. When I went there, there was no pull out and instead a chair. I returned to let them know this. I was told there wasn't a room ready. I had to wait in the lobby for hours. After 3:00 I started to complain especially since I had asked for an early arrival. I was told that they were at full capacity and the room might be ready at 4 or 5. When we finally got the room I was disappointed. It was clearly in need of refurbishment. The air conditioner was from 1960, the toilet ran for 10-15 minutes, and the construction didn't end at 5 as promised. When I went to try to stop the toilet from running, I lifted the tank lid and found a very dark ring of mold. I'm not sure if it was this or just the room condition, but it smelled like mildew. I had to air out the room daily. With construction going on right outside my room, this wasn't always easy. The manager offered me additional fast pass selections for my trouble, but unfortunately... they didn't work! To top it off one day we were told that the water might be shut off from 11- 3. I couldn't believe that. Refurbishment that requires water to be shut off is a big deal! The wi'fi NEVER connected and was completely useless. Needless to say I will NEVER be going back. As a bonus for my return, I had to wash all my clean clothes again because they smelled. I've NEVER had to do that before. Stay clear of this hotel!!!!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Disney yacht club/ club level. It was our first time staying at a Disney resort, so we don't have any others to compare it too. We have stayed at many different resorts internationally, and the service that we received was by far the best that we have had. The rooms were newly renovated, and the view from our room was fantastic. We stayed in room 5181, which is directly overlooking the pool lagoon. The reason we think our trip was amazing, is because of the club level concierge service. Regina and Miguel went above and beyond to make our families stay more then what we could of asked for. We ran into more than a handful of situations with us wanting to change reservations, parks, etc... Regina and Miguel told us not to worry about a thing , and that they would take care of it. Thanks to them, they made our trip one that we will always remember. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal , but all the little things that they helped us with made our trip truly a stress free vacation. .... Regina and Miguel-- thank you for everything!!!we truly appreciate everything you did for us!!
