Disney's Yacht Club Resort
- What's Included
We stayed club level during our stay and found the service was spectacular. They called our restaurant and let them know we were celebrating our anniversary. They personalized our menu as a real surprise. The lounge was a nice plus to all the money we were spending on a daily basis. Beer and wine daily. Snacks, continental breakfasts, munchies, apps, and a little something for everyone. Slight hiccup with a bill during our stay but it was corrected in minutes. Drew at the front desk is great at surprise and delights. Miguel in concierge was very attentive to our wants and needs.
We stayed at the Beach Club the last time we were at Disney and loved it. Unfortunately they were booked for this trip, so we stayed at the Yacht Club. I actually think I liked the Yacht Club better. It seemed to be recently renovated and very well maintained. The location is perfect - walking distance to Epcot and either a long walk or quick boat ride to Hollywood Studios. The pool is fabulous for all ages with the shallow beach area, lazy river, water slide, and hot tubs.
We loved the Yacht Club! Great location if you love Epcot and so much to do without even going to a park. The Beach Club and Boardwalk are nearby as well as the Swan and Dolphin with restaurants galore ...mini golf nearby and the pool is pretty great. The newly updated rooms are very nice.
What a great hotel. Location decor pools food. All round a great place. Just a couple of things stopped me from 5 stars. Some of the front desk staff are not great and there uniforms are awful. Bad fitting and scruffy. Amy the front desk manager is fantastic. Nothing was to much for her to do and help . Without her the place would fall apart. The rooms are large and very well fitted out. Great bathrooms. The pools are fantastic and so is the water slide. Easily to get around but be careful and watch times as the tea sport system stops at different times and the parks shut at varied times so this can affect how you get back to the hotel
I have been to Disney World annually for the last 25 years and have stayed at moderate, deluxe and vacation club properties to include Caribbean, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans, Saratoga Springs and The Boardwalk. While the Yacht Club benefits from an excellent location near EPCOT and an impressive pool for kids, I recommend spending your money elsewhere for a comparable level of service. MAGICAL EXPRESS: I love this service although it does require some patience. Upon arrival at the airport, you'll go to the rental car area where you'll be directed to your first of many Disney lines; the line to board your Magical Express bus. The great thing is that, if you used the provided luggage tags, you won't need to pick up your luggage. It will be delivered to your room in about three hours. The drive on the bus takes about 45 minutes and a couple of stops at other resorts before you arrive at the Yacht Club. You'll need some patience.LOBBY and CHECK IN: The lobby is beautiful with a lot of intricate woodwork and seating areas. There is one for the kids with Disney movies where you can seat them while you check in. We had checked in online two weeks prior to the trip but never received a room assignment via text or email so we still had to wait in line. Not quite the way it's supposed to work but the line moved pretty fast. If you decide to use Magic Bands for purchases, make sure your credit card and pin number work at the desk. The attendant can confirm this so you will not have problems at the parks. ROOM: We had a refurbished room on the first floor facing the lake. The updated rooms are very nice with new closet systems, furniture, wall coverings and bathrooms. I really liked the look and feel although some visitors prefer more Disney theming. This resort is definitely designed for adult tastes. The room also had a small convertible couch which would fit a small child. The room had a small patio with two chairs to sit outside. Upper floors had small balconies.SERVICE: This is where I was pretty disappointed. Deluxe resorts run almost twice as much as a moderate resort and honestly, I expect room service to be twice as nice. We get up late during our stay on most days so we do not have the room serviced every day. On our second day, I removed the Do Not Disturb sign to have the room cleaned as we were leaving our room at 8:20 a.m. I even went back to doublecheck our room and my brother's room next door after walking halfway down the hall. When we returned at 2 p.m. the rooms had still not been serviced. We assumed they just had not gotten to it yet so we went to the pool for three hours to give them time. When we returned to get ready for dinner, the rooms were still not started so I called housekeeping. They said they did not know what had happened and wanted me to check again to see if I had the Do Not Disturb sign up. I said "no" and they offered to have someone come at that time Unfortunately, we needed to take showers to get ready for dinner so we asked for towels and let it go. The next day we had a late start so I placed the Do Not Disturb sign on the door at 7 a.m. At 9:30 a.m. the housekeeping staff walked in anyway while I was in the shower. They apologized and left immediately but it was very odd. My husband told them they could come back and clean at 10:30 a.m. which they did. The next day we decided to forego housekeeping and left our signs up. When we returned that afternoon they had come in and cleaned anyway. I realize this isn't a huge deal but I believe a deluxe resort should have these small details worked out. Additionally, although we left cleaning out on our beds in the provided bags and with the form filled out, they did not take them to be cleaned. We had to drop the bags off at the front desk. Again... small details. FOOD SERVICE: The Yacht Club is attempting to provide greater food service options. They have added a small market where you can get grab-and-go items before you head to the parks. This is very helpful as many of us do not have time for a sit-down meal in the morning. However, if you are headed into EPCOT I recommended skipping the resort options and going to the bakery in France where the options are simply delicious. They open at 9 a.m. and I recommend either the chocolate-filled beignets or the ham and cheese croissant. If you would like an evening drink, I recommend the Crew Cup lounge if it's not too crowded. The service at this location was excellent and the drinks were well done. POOL: If you have kids, the pool at this hotel is one of the best. It has a lazy river, sand-bottom and a slide built into an old ship. Very well done with an excellent pool bar. We enjoyed a couple of afternoons at the pool which has a lot of seating options. LOCATION: The Yacht Club, along with Beach Club and Boardwalk resorts, has a premium location near the back entrance to EPCOT and a walking path or boat to Disney Studios. This is the top reason we chose to stay in this area. OVERALL: The price you will pay to stay at any of the Boardwalk area resorts will offer you a great location, however, I have experienced similar if not better service and transportation at the Moderate resorts. Port Orleans has been the best option for us. The rooms are not as elegantly detailed and they face an outer walkway (like a motel) but the housekeeping has been better. Additionally, the food court gives you more options throughout your stay. You can also walk a short distance to the French Quarter resort for additional food options or take a nice boat ride to Disney Springs. Finally, I have experienced better and more reliable bus service to the parks at all three of the moderate resorts we have visited. We waited over 40 minutes for a Disney Springs bus for a Sunday brunch at Raglan Road which was disappointing. I usually am sad to leave Disney as I have experienced such great service and smiling faces. That just wasn't my experience this trip and for the first time, I do not look forward to returning.
