Disney's Yacht Club Resort
- What's Included
The checkin was a little disorganized, in that we were given incorrect information by at least two different staff members, but it all got sorted out eventually, and we got to our room. Be aware that this hotel is absolutely HUGE; it could be a 10 minute walk from the lobby to your room. If you have mobility issues, ask for a room close to the lobby. The room itself was nice, with comfortable beds and a choice of pillows. It is the only hotel room I've ever stayed in that had enough lights, including a nice overhead light. The hotel is expensive, including drinks, food, etc., but given that it is a Disney property, we expected that (not happy about it, but we expected it). One bonus was that we had a nice view of the higher Epcot fireworks from the balcony of our room. The staff are all "Disney friendly." The Disney transportation options were convenient. All in all, if you don't mind spending the money, and the long walk to the rooms, it's a lovely place to stay.
Family holiday with my son, daughter in law and granddaughter. We were in the River Club hotel (which is the sister hotel of the Yacht Club right next door) which I felt was better in ambience and overall look of the place. Yacht Club bit formal but River Club felt more relaxed and the decor more cheery. Our rooms had a view over the lake so very nice and rooms spacious though my son had a connecting door and his neighbours were very noisy, being sick and spewing up and shouting etc so kept them awake. They had to complain but it didn't help. The location of this hotel was fabulous as in easy walking distance to the Disney Park, bus stops for other parks and little boat to take you to other parts of the area. If you have the budget then I'd definitely recommend it but very expensive for what you get. The pool area is shared with the Yacht Club and very good with little cafe bar for food and was very impressed with the security. I had to laugh as everyone was asked to leave the pool as some little person had a wee accident in the water or on the sandy beach area so the staff had to sort it all out. Great wee sandy bit within this area for kids to play.
Our family loves disney world and thier on property hotels. We have been in all of the hotels. Although we always stayed on property, our biggest issue was not bringing our frenchie, now thats solved!!
Had a great last min. Trip to Disney. Stayed at Yacht Club, this was our second time. Good size room for family of 5. Love the location. Had great customer service experience with front desk staff, went out of their way to make stay end of stay as good as first night.
We began our honeymoon at Disney's Yacht Club Resort and were delighted, with what I would describe as the usual Disney caveat! I shall explain later in my review, but let me just express my delight at the Disney ambience which never fails to empress this Disney princess! I have stayed at many of the Disney properties, and still, find the Yacht Club to be charming and so close to the action. The rooms are well appointed without being over the top Disney, but I still baulk slightly at the price one has to pay to stay on property. This being said, we will be reaching into our pocketbooks and finding a way to go again in the not too distant future, so they must be doing something right! Since it was our honeymoon, we received Happily Ever After buttons to wear (I am not really a fan of buttons, but made an exception on this trip!) and were delighted with all the kind words both around the parks and at the hotel. Despite the cold weather, we enjoyed a morning by the hot tub (too cold to venture into the beautiful pools) and soaked up the atmosphere with a couple of cocktails which were perfectly made (not too alcoholic for the time of day, and delivered with a smile) and we did not have a bad meal during our stay. Our room was perfectly located near the lobby on the main floor with a view of the gardens and the water. The water pressure in the bathroom could have been better, but the shower was large and the lighting in the vanity area was perfect for applying makeup and getting ready for the day. The bed was comfortable and the sheets crisp. The towels felt new (not worn and frayed). Cast members were ready with a smile and for the most part, we were extremely impressed with everything about the hotel. Now, the caveat! With so many guests passing through, I think it hard to truly offer personal service. As long as everything is going along swimmingly without a hitch, a vacation at Disneyworld (or any Disney location for that matter) is wonderful. However, when one encounters a problem it seems that there is a protocol in place and it is hard to waver from protocol to offer something extra to make everything better. We had an issue with our room, and although everything was eventually taken care of with a smile, I do believe that the ability to offer us a cocktail or a free appetizer or even a coffee while we waited would have made all the difference. I shall not bore readers with the details, but it did involve previous guest's toenails and it took a couple of attempts to get them removed! A small detail overall, but I have noticed over my years of Disney obsession that this fine-tuned machine is not always the best when there is a bit of a hitch! That being said, I would highly recommend the Yacht Club. The location is beautiful and we were extremely sad to leave! To be fair, we were also staying at a peak time (New Year) which meant every cast member was pushed to their limits with questions and issues I am sure!
