Excellent stay....again

I travel frequently and stay in Orlando quite a bit. I always enjoy our stay at the doubletree by SeaWorld. The staff always bend over backwards for you and the room is clean and neat. The kids love the pool which was heated perfectly for January. The pizza place on site has consistently good pizza at a great price for the family. The kids love playing putt putt and enjoying the small playground and little games and activities. I know many hotels in Orlando charge a resort fee which is not worth what you pay for, but I do feel that at least you are getting some benefits from the fee at this hotel which I can not say about other resorts. For one, the benefits for SeaWorld are a huge savings when visiting those parks. The breakfast buffet was excellent again and it's always great to see the lady who makes the omelettes. She has been there for years and consistently makes great food with an even better personality. All in all, we had a wonderful time.

I really wanted to write a great review for this hotel. It has a solid foundation and you can see the capital improvements taking place. I'd like to believe when the construction is complete this hotel will come back to life. Unfortunately, this review is based off of my stay mid January 2017. Upon arrival I thought I'd patron the on site restaurant for breakfast. Clearly the most popular option is the buffet yet I had no interest in that much food. Other guests appeared to be pleased with the value. I was seated in the dining area and service was slow. I ordered an omelet and orange juice which was good. I noticed the staff was primarily focused on servicing the buffet. After waiting for a long period of time I finally received my check but the waitress never returned. After roughly 10 minutes I walked up to the bar and paid my bill. To my chagrin there was the waitress and three other team members deeply engaged in post weekend gossip. That was my last meal outside of room service at the hotel. The room was moderately clean with normal wear and tear. Overall it was tired as evidenced by the pictures I shared within this review. I'm willing to compromise aesthetics as long as it's clean. The bathroom needed some love as did the carpet. The room was something I'd expect to see at a hotel brand inferior to Hilton. I was excited to use the fitness room after looking at the pictures online. Nestled in it's temporary location, it seemed to service the needs of most travelers. The equipment was from a reputable company and at one point top notch. Still serviceable to some degree. The first treadmill I tried to use would not power up. "No problem" I thought to myself and moved to another. Upon raising the unit up to my speed (7.5 mph) I felt the belt slip. This jerking motion while on the belt is an issue. Those who have experienced a slipping treadmill belt know what I'm referring to. I jumped off and tried a third unit which worked just fine. I completed my workout and notified the front desk of the issues. My conclusion is you can find what you need in there but deferred maintenance exists. The room service staff was five star. Absolutely delightful from the moment I picked up the phone to the individuals who made the deliveries. Thank you. In conclusion, the property has a lovely setting. I'd suggest walking the property to see all it has to offer. It has great potential but for me it did not hit the mark. I was expecting more from the brand. Next time in Orlando I'll likely stay at the Hyatt Regency.

Great Food, Amenities and People

I always enjoy coming to this location for work. Nice amenities and a great breakfast. Maria Perafan is a top notch waitress at Breakfast in Laguna. She makes you feel like your in your home kitchen and a part of a family.

Christmas in Orlando

We decided to visit Orlando for Christmas. Let me start off by saying that this hotel is nice, but you can tell it's going thru renovations. We stayed in the main tower and although nice, just a little outdated. Pool bar is reallly nice and bartender makes excellent drinks. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Restaurant is nice, but pricey. We were able to book the shuttle to Disney without any issues. The only thing I would complain about is shuttle bus drivers. One driver drove for what seemed like forever just to take us to disney. The second day the driver obviously knew where he was going, it took less time to get to Disney. The return trip on one of the shuttle bus is another story. We left the parks late and the driver of the shuttle was from another hotel. The bus belong to another hotel so he rudely told all of us to get on the bus. We all were skeptical and reluctantly got on the bus. He drove extremely fast and had no regard for anyone on the bus. It took about 30 minutes to return back to our hotel because he had to drop others off at their hotel. Overall nice hotel, but hope it's better once they're done with renovations.

No Diamond Upgrade

Good basic hotel. Clean and fairly modern. Excellent breakfast. Service in the bar was very poor. No Diamond Member upgrades. Shuttle service to airport, but difficult to find the airport hotel shuttle pick up point at the airport, which of course is not the hotel's fault.
