Doubletree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld
- What's Included
Overview28-acre resort with health spa located next to SeaWorld and 3 blocks from the Convention Center.
I will never understand the "mandatory resort fee". While I did realize this when I booked the room, , since it is mandatory, why they don't just include it in the room rate? Since the fee includes the $18 self parking fee, then they could just show self parking as free. So know when you book at the resort fee of $19.95 plus tax will be charged each day, but self parking is free.So the parking situation is terrible, particularity if you have a handicapped person. While they did accommodate our room request to be near the elevator, we were in the tower which has three handicap spots near the entrance. So not only does it only have three spots, there are only about 20 total parking spaces near the entrance that are shared, not only with the 17 floor tower, but other rooms across from the tower. Fortunately, I was driving, not my elderly friend, so I was able to drop her at the door, unload the car and then find a space. Had she been alone, I have no idea what she would have done. Furthermore, while it was only 8 PM, I had to park very far away from the tower entrance and walk alone, in the dark, through the parking lot.The rooms are not spacious and do not have a refrigerator. When I got to the room, I called the front desk to see if an upgrade was available as I am an Hilton Honors gold member. They told me they did not have a Hilton Honors floor, which is amazing as floor 17 on the elevator is clearly marked "Hilton Honors."!Our room did have two chairs, both of which were very hard. The bathroom is small. It would be nice if there was a night light in the bathroom. The room did stay cool. Also, I travel extensively for work and this hotel, unlike most others, did not have the lamps with the integrated plugs next to the bed. So you have to find a plug in the room for your phone or computer to charge.Since I am an Honors member, the breakfast buffet was included. This was fabulous. Probably the best breakfast I have had at a hotel. Not only do they have cooked to order eggs, the offerings on the buffet were extensive and included almost anything you could want. The fresh sliced mango melted in your mouth. I do not know the price of this if you had to pay for it.Since we were at a convention, I can not comment on the hotel's resort amenities or its proximity to Disney attractions. If those items are important to you, you may have a different opinion. However, if you have walking restrictions, this hotel is not for you.
The Dept. of Education held a statewide conference for us here and it was WONDERFUL! The temperatures were steady, rooms were clean and comfortable, service from staff was accomodating as well. The only problem was that we did NOT receive the same amenities as the other guests because we did not pay the resort fee.
So after a bloody long near 9 hour flight we finally arrived at the airport to find my mum's suitcase had been thrown of the baggage claim and the handle had completely broken which was a great start then struggled to find our coach no one around to help... when we got to the hilton it was a quick friendly check in the cookies where amazing best I've ever had rooms were nice and clean and pool was nice but all of that changed after a few days when we went to seaworld came back to find a converse jacket missing and also a pair of flipflops... when we alerted the reception it took them over a week to basically say their was nothing they could do apart from offer a refund for the jacket after that we had to padlock and lock everything away which made our stay uncomfortable, then a big group of american kids turnt up screaming and shouting and doing canon balls in the 'relaxtion pool' staff would walk past and say nothing shop on site expensive but being a hilton you'd expect that overall an average stay wouldn't go back the theft ruined it such a shame...
Im very picky about hotel rooms but i'm not a millionaire so I have to do the best I can. I was pleasantly surprised with the double tree. The decor was very aesthetic and the rooms were clean along with the beds were comfortable. We arrived a day earlier than anticipated and the manager April Wills and Lissette helped by answering emails and working out another day for us in the same room.
The experience is wonderful...the rooms are always clean, modern and ready for check-in. The staff is friendly, courteous and always willing to help. April Willis (Guest Host Manager) has always accommodated my reservation requirements. For being a road warrior, it's nice to know I can go to the DT seaworld and feel at home.
