We were there for two night to stay a day at Universal studios. We took the shuttle for the way to the park but due to the short distance and no bus available anymore we walked back. Also the location is close to a Premium Outlet for excellent shopping.Rooms were new and clean and nice pool and fitness available.Only thing was that my booking was saying that breakfast costs are 7$ per night but there was only a small café where you could buy breakfast for more.
Walking distance to Universal/Islands. They do offer shuttles. Nice breakfast/lunch area with tasty treats. A little slow but worth the wait. Beds are a little stiff but still a cozy room. Hotel is very spread out so if you have a few other friends in rooms call way in advance to see if they can get you close.
On arrival we were greeted by a young lady who checked us in. all seemed well until it came to finding our room. we were left to find it on our own with a drawn out map highlighting where our room was. not too much of problem however very time consuming and can be stressful when you have been stuck on a plane for 9 hours and then stuck at the airport for 2 hours. The young lady also did not explain that the hotel had designated smoking areas. So as respectful customers we were talking ourselves off the premises. when we finally got to our room we walked in to a lovely room with two double beds all nice and neatly made no complains on how tidy the room was or the cleanliness of the room all of this was up to par. our room was cleaned and beds made everyday apart from one day when we forgot to take some possessions off the bed which is understandable as they are not insured to do so and if it is broken. which was no problem. The first night we stayed we did not really have much chance to explore so decided to use the bar and restaurant facilities they provided. To begin with the bar tender was very grumpy and did not crack a smile once the whole time we were sat at the bar. working in retail myself one of the most important things to remember as far as customer service goes is to smile and manners. To be quite honest he did not look like he wanted to be there at all. The restaurant can only be described as bland and very confusing. It it is described as a Indian Chinese and Thai menu. To me that is just too complicating for the staff i would rather have limited choice and meals to be executed right and the taste to be amazing. However the only part of my meal i enjoyed was the starter of spring rolls and two dipping sauces. The main course which i chose was a chicken and spinach curry. i apologies in advance as the appearance can only be described as something that comes out of a child's nappy. yet this dish did not have any texture or flavor to it at all. my friend ordered a garlic naan bread to accompany her curry and there was no taste of garlic whats so ever. unfortunately that meal was rated at a 1/10. The second day we visited the pool which was minimalist but clean and well kept the sun bathing area itself was very nice and clean very well kept. That night we returned to the bar to find a new member of staff on which was polite and smiled genuinely looked like he wanted to be there to later find out that he was also the new manger of the restaurant. We told him of our experience in the restaurant. He took our information on board and explained that he was working with the chef to improve the menu and improve on dishes. he personally apologized for our meals and gave us complimentary drinks. The hotel also has its own coffee shop that serves breakfast lunch and tea with light snack and cereals also. The staff who work there are all lovely and will go the extra mile for their customers. The coffee was very nice and food is simple but worth the price. Situated in the lobby there is a small shop that sells gift food drink and cigarettes. This shop is reasonably priced and does sell some useful things. However as a gift shop as you can imagine there is a swift competition of gift shops to compete against. me personally would go to the larger stores that have far more variety. However to show good will and respect to the place i have been staying i purchased a few bits from the shop to bring home with me. The surrounding area of the hotel is filled with construction on the road at the moment however it is a 5 minute walk to the restaurant T.G.I Friday. There is a bus service near the top of the road to take you to the near by attractions also a 10 minute walk to a small row of resturaunts and bars. All in all a pleasant experience with a few minor bumps in the road.
Lovely room for the price , we enjoyed our stay here very much the cafe and restaurant were good value and decent food , the shuttles to universal were good and quick this hotel is perfect for universal visits but the Disney shuttles were pointless as ridiculous times , staff were friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay here again
Family of 4 stayed here for 14nts July 17. Arrived at hotel 5pm and checked in prompt, no issues. First impression was that it was spotless. We were allocated a room on the 2nd floor with a pool view, we'd requested this in advance. Room was spotlessly clean, two queen beds a table with 2 chairs, flat screen tv mini fridge in cabinet and drawers. As well as bedside cabinet with lamp that has usb charger ports and a cupboard with ironing equipment, safe clothing hanging and shelving. Quite a modern feeling with the fabric, lighting and colour schemes. Aircon unit powerful and very good and there are blackout liners in the curtains....I see another review comments that there are not fully closing curtains. They're there, they're hiding behind the netting! We hired the safe think we were around $37 for the duration. Hair dryer on wall beside sink. It also had a little light on it which we used as a night light for the kids as the room was dark during the night.Plenty towels and pool towels also in the room. Areas dotted about floors with ice and vending machines.Pool area immaculate, walk in pool to 6ft depth. Comfy beds, parasoles tables and chairs. Pool area can be busiest morning and late evenings. Also a spa/jacuzzi which is hot! I loved the heat late at night after a day in parks. Roast Cafe: we used this a few mornings for breakfast. On offer were croissants with various fillings as well as breakfast biscuits, large range of pastries, cookies and cereals. As well as a host of beverages. The ladies working in the cafe were lovely. 4 of us could have breakfast for around $23. We didn't have lunch here but had seen the food and it looked good. LOCATION: We dont hire a car in Orlando, but saw free parking at the Clarion. This is excellent for Universal, under 10min walk along the road, didn't bother using the hotel transport. There is a green line itrolley stop along from the hotel which we used daily. We bought the 14 day unlimited passes for the 4 of us. It takes you round to the transfer stop 5 on redline up idrive if you wish to get off, we ate in the ihop abs Denny's here a few mornings. However, if you stay on it you will run parallel to idrive and can get off at the opposite side of block for the 360 and pointe. Much much quicker than using red line idrive trolley. You get to Seaworld from Clarion in12-15 mins.(There's an app)There were a lot of road works going on around the location. However, this didn't cause us any issues or impact on our stay in any way. The road outside the hotel which is being worked on has a flyover being created with footpaths which will take you over to the shopping outlets in I'd estimate 5min walk. This will be a fantastic when completed as it's a big loop to get there just now on the itrolley or taxi. I believe it is due to complete soon.Just along the Kirkman rd you'll find sone places to eat such as Miller's, Kobe, Golden Coral, Starbucks, McDonald's. There is also a Wallgreens. This is 5min walk, if going go via the road into the Double Tree hotel. Across from hotel there's a TGI's but we didn't think it was too great. We didn't eat in the Tablah Indian in the hotel as they didn't have a kids menu with non Indian food. There's also a shop in the hotel which opens at different times. It has gifts as well as sweets and crisps and toiletries. All in all we'd an excellent stay here. The staff were attentive and helpful. The value for money with our Thomas Cook package was decent as we'd booked early May 17. We'd definitely recommend this hotel especially for families that have smaller children. Spotless, excellent location and great staff experience. The only slight negative issue I have is that we were charged an adult price for our older child (13). In Europe when this is the case, in some hotels the max occupancy is 2 adults 2 children, you end up having 2 joining rooms when larger family rooms unavailable. Next time we'd most definitely find the rooms too small with 2 fully grown teen boys and would have to consider availability of joint rooms which may rule out a stay depending on costs. We'd a door in our room to next door....however we didn't hear a thing.
