We are currently staying here at Clarion inn Universal! We are 1 week into our 2 week stay and I have to say we couldn’t be happier! Myself and my husband have been to Florida a few times and we usually stay at the double tree across the road but we decided to try here this time for a change and also the price was great, we have been twice this year so looking to save a few pennies this time round! I have to say I would never stay at the doubletree again after trying this hotel! We have a great room overlooking the pool area, air con is awesome, we have had some lovely evenings in the pool! The hotel is so quiet even though it’s actually quite busy for Halloween horrors, The room is spotless, beds are comfy and we have found all the staff very polite, my husband like to chat to the maintenance guys in the morning and they are very nice and helpful, little tips here and there ha! We haven’t used the shuttles as we always walk to universal, I don’t get why people complain about the walk it takes us about 15 mins and it’s actually a lovely walk over! We have used the roast cafe a couple of times and it’s lovely with reasonable prices, the bar prices are a fraction of the Hilton only $4 for a beer which is great!! We haven’t used the Indian restaurant yet however we have eaten in there in the past and it’s great! All in all we couldn’t ask for more, great little motel/hotel, we will return for sure!! Also it’s a five minute walk to premium outlets now the new road is open and the Itrolly stops just over the road!! Any questions please feel free to message me!
Husband and I decided to try this hotel due to the fact that it’s close to Universal Studios. We’re both glad we did! Renovated, confortable and clean! We are returning in a week for our 2nd HHN trip!
Wonderful location, very close to Universal Resort and Outlet Premium. Not sure how or why people complaining about it. For those whiny types and nitpick about everything. There are a lot more option ($$$$$$$) that will give you easy access to parks, and satisfy your desire. Anyway, hotel was great, the pool was great and beautiful, and the room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable! Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Didn't want to leave!
As a Choice Privileges member, I really had high hopes for this property after reading the reviews and it being a Clarion, which I thought was a more premium property. First, I would say for most people this is not a property which is in walking distance to Universal. We are in good shape and generally walk at least 5 miles per day. The challenge here is that it is quite a walk to the main entrance, not to the park itself. In addition you will cross very busy streets, some of which the crossing lights do not work. Pretty scary at night. Once you get to the U overall grounds there is a long walk to the City Walk entrance and to the parks. The property offers a free shuttle which is not without hassle. Yes, it’s free, but the shuttle serves multiple hotels and it’s standing room only. You will wait for the shuttle to and from and the trip back to your hotel is not fast. The drivers during each of our trips seemed very stressed out. The room, 2 queen beds, was small as was the bathroom. Compared to the on site hotel price it was a good price. The beds have black painted plywood frames which are real knee bruisers.overall, our room was very quiet. Our air conditioner quit working the 3rd day. I called the desk and to their credit sent maintenance very quickly at 10pm. The very nice gentleman admitted there was a problem and said he would need to fix it after we checked out. No one offers us a new room and I didn’t ask because we were tired. My fault. After a sleepless night in a hot room I went to the lobby to buy coffee. At 7:15 the coffee shop was closed despite a posted opening time of 7am. When I went to the front desk to inquire, the grumpy man told me someone overslept. When I asked if there was anywhere to get coffee ( much needed after no sleep because of a/c problem) he said no. I went back to the coffee shop after 7:30 where the lady was struggling to open while waiting on customers. I overheard her saying she was called in on her day off. I didn’t get her name but she was very sweet and from Venezuela. She was alone and manage multiple customers with a smile. When I checked out I was asked about our stay. When I brought up the a/c problem, i was asked if we were offered another room and I told her no. She seemed surprised and apologized. The last thing is that this property does not offer a complimentary breakfast as most Choice properties do. And, we were not recognized as CP members. As this review is read by others, please know that we are not those whiny types that nitpick about everything. I always give a fair review and give credit where credit is due. This review is mixed with highs and lows.
Older hotel that has been beautifully renovated with contemporary rooms and lobby. Very friendly and attentive front desk staff. The location is close to Universal Orlando and, with the new Grand National Overpass, is minutes from Fun Spot America and Orlando Outlets.
