My husband, daughter and I decided to go to Florida for a few days for a family trip. Our main destination was to go to Universal Studios. This hotel was perfect! It was across the street from the park. They have a free shuttle that goes to and from the park which helps to avoid the $20 parking fee. There are so many restaurants, stores and attractions all within 5-10 miles. It is located in a quiet area even though it is close to everything. The hotel itself was amazing. The staff was friendly and super helpful. Our room was spotless! We loved the beds-they are firm and they give you down pillows! My husband and I slept like champs! The pool is beautiful! Crystal clear and it has a walking in feature. The pool is clearly marked with the depths all around-made it great for my daughter to go swimming! The pool area is spacious and clean! The hot tub was also a great feature. We feel like this hotel is a hidden gem! We will stay here again in a heartbeat! Cannot say enough about this hotel! Well done!
First of all, the outside may not look like much, but the lobby and the rooms are amazing. The rooms are decorated in purple nicely. Little accents here and there. The rooms are very clean, the beds are extremely comfortable and the ac works very well. In fact, we had to shut it off a couple of times because it got too cold. There were plenty of towels for everyone. The pool was nice as it was always filled. The front staff especially Shakila were extremely friendly. The only downside: tub was extremely slippery and they charge to use their safe.
This hotel seemed a lot nicer in the pictures. We were given a room facing the parking lot and a major highway. We didn't pay attention to the reviews that warned about the noise, but we should have. The noise from the road was LOUD, and also the noise from people walking past your room was disturbing. To ensure privacy we had to have the curtains closed at all times. For some reason you have to have housekeeping, which we didn't need. The pool was okay, fitness center had almost no equipment, and some of it were out of order. More of a motel style place than the hotel it looks like in the pictures.Oh, and the bed was so hard that I had an aking back and hip for almost a week after, and I'm only 31!
This would 100 percent be my choice if I stayed near universal again. The price was much cheaper than other hotels in the area, and the rooms were clean and renovated. The lobby is gorgeous and they have the most delicious food in the Indian Restaurant inside the hotel. Hands down a great choice. Don't pay for the expensive hotels inside universal when this place is across the street!!!
PROSNice modern reception areaRoast cafe which although we did not use looked very good with a good choice of food and drinks, places to sit and reasonably pricedNice sunbeds with padded cushions and sunshadesPool bar (never open during our 3 week stay)Remodelled rooms20 minutes walk to Universal ( have to cross a very busy road)CONSSituated in the middle, of a construction site for the I4 improvements and the building of a Lexus garage. Resulting in a lot of noise and dust, sometimes the work started at 5am and finished at 11.30pm. The pool area is adjacent to the roadworks and again suffers from dust and noise.Very sharp corners on the bed which can cause injury. We used the pool towels to cover the edges.Charge $3 a day for the in room safe.First room had a toilet which was not properly fixed to the floor (housekeeping would have been aware of this when they cleaned it). It leaked all over the bathroom floor on the 3rd night of our stay. It was repaired the following day after we visited the front desk. The repair disturbed the cockroaches and 2 small ones were found in the bath that evening. The hot water took about 10 minutes to come through, the water did not drain properly from the shower (this is an over the bath shower) so you stood in cold water while washing. This then left a residue in the bath which was never cleaned properly. The sink also had a residue on it after a couple of days. The towel rail and the shower temperature indicator were also broken. Again housekeeping would have been aware of these issues when cleaning.Hair and dust built up in the corners of the bathroom floor. It would appear that they only sweep/vacuum once a week.We were left different amounts of towels every day. The pool towels disappeared one day so we had to go to front desk to ask for replacements.Under the dual sink in the bathroom a hole had been cut to access the pipe work on a previous occasion. The hole had a piece of hardboard placed in it which was not fixed and did not fully cover the hole.Towards the end of our first week I opened the closet one evening to be faced with the biggest cockroach I have ever seen. Hubby had to kill it with the iron. We suspect it came from the hole under the sink. Reported it to front desk who promised to fill the hole, on return that evening nothing had been done. Reported it again the next day, promised it would be resolved, also offered us another room but as we had booked to go out that day we had no time to move rooms, returned that night, nothing done to repair the hole. At midnight we were faced with another large cockroach walking across the bedroom wall. Hubby killed it and took it to reception and the staff were surprised at the size of it. One of the night staff visited the room to view the hole and promised it would be dealt with the next day. We went to front desk in the morning and were told that maintenance were waiting for us to leave and they would then fill the hole. Not sure about this as they had not knocked on the door to see if we were in so how were they waiting for us to leave? We were also told that the pest control company had been called and they would spray the room and they would fill the hole in!!!After a hot and tiring day we returned at 4.30pm to get ready for my birthday meal and on entering the room we were faced with a musty smell and a gaping hole under the sink. Another visit to the front desk to be told that the hole had been fixed! We were offered the chance to move rooms. The first room we were offered was smaller than our existing one, nearer to the roadworks and the door did not shut properly. Back to the front desk to be told that all rooms had been remodelled, quite what this had to do with the room being smaller and closer to the roadworks I am not sure. Off to view another room which had a smaller bathroom and the sink was in the bedroom but we accepted it. We then had to pack up all of our stuff, quite a bit for a 3 week stay and move everything. We later found that there was a large gap under the door which we had to block up with a towel to keep out some of the noise. In the morning we found that the fridge did not work and all of our bottled water was warm. Back to the front desk to mention this. The fridge was duly changed but no apology given. The walls are paper thin and we had several disturbed nights sleep due to a variety of antics by other guests. We were woken up at 3am several nights by a group of VERY noisy lads who clearly did not care about other guests. The air con units are under the windows and are very noisy. If you happen to be in the bed next to them you will be frozen. The rooms are in a motel type set up with the doors opening to the outside. The corridors were not cleaned properly during our stay with spilt drinks all over the place. The battery in our in room smoke alarm decided to die one night and we had constant bleeping from 3am. No hard wired smoke detectors, sprinklers or evacuation instructions in the room.Car parking can be an issue and cars regularly had to park on the roadway close to the roadworks. The pest control company were visiting again on the day we left. You will receive several Pizza delivery company leaflets through your door each night even though there are notices up saying the hotel forbids this.We have seen cockroaches in other countries but have never experienced them in our room before. We have been visiting Florida for the last 20 years and also travel to other parts of the USA and all over Europe but we have never had to visit the front desk so often on a holiday to complain about things that should have been fixed with regular maintenance and good housekeeping. We went on holiday for a relaxing break but we were so tired of having to go to the front desk to complain it was a relief to leave.
