Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay
- What's Included
My wife and I stayed for a couple of nights, and our room was on the 10th floor with a wonderful view of Tampa Bay. The room was spacious and very clean. Very reasonably priced, and the location is within a few miles of many good restaurants and attractions. A bit of a drive if you want to go downtown or Ybor city. It is quite close to the airport, but you don't hear any planes taking off or landing. I would highly recommend it.
Have stayed at this hotel several times and the past few times the food quality was a bit off. I am excited to say this past time it was back to its usual outstanding way. The hotel itself has such wonderful people working there that make you feel 5 star. You add in the quality of the property itself, which is outstanding, and amazing views all within 8 minutes from the airport and you feel like royalty must feel. Now I can also say the food is back to top class and this hotel has it all. Don't walk, but run or fly or boat but get there, you will love it and one of the best in the land.
The staff was attentive and the rooms what you would expect from a property of this caliber. There is a second pool and a shuttle to that area of the property. I liked being away from the main hotel. A nature boardwalk through a tree laden landscape takes you to a gazebo overlook. The gazebo was plain and the grounds by way of flora boring. Compared to Hawaii, well there is no comparison. The main hotel pool was small and uneventful but 5 star service. The buffet breakfast was divine on the Club Level.
We arrived in Tampa for a weekend away and chose to staty at the Grand Hyatt for 2 nights. The hotel is close to the airport and the grounds are beautiful. At check-in, we were given the option of staying in a room overlooking the bay, or in a casita. We chose the high-rise room with the beautiful view. The room nor the view did not disappoint. Beautiful! The room was on the 9th floor and was very spacious, modern, and clearn. Since the hotel is near the airport, we were concerned about noise. No need, however, as the sound proofing windows were fantastic! Never heard a peep from outside! It had ample room for the 3 of us. My only suggestion, would be for them to have more hooks in the bathroom (especially behind the door). I loved that they provided robes & slippers! The property itself is truly a resort feel...not your typical hotel. The common areas are clean and modern. The 2 pools are large and well maintained. We loved that they were salt water pools and the one by the Casitas was very warm! It felt sooo good! At the casita end of the hotel, we enjoyed lounging on the hammocks and walking on the dock to see the sunset. The two adirondack chairs at the end of the dock was my favorite spot! Very romantic! My husband and daughter, rented paddle boards one afternoon. It was very convienient and well priced ($20 for an hour each). While at the Casita side, we ate at the Oystercatcher restaurant. The food was delicious! I ordered the fish tacos, and they were some of the best I have ever had!The nature walk that takes you from one side of the property to the other, was fantastic. Made of beautiful Trex decking, it was such a nice addition. We enjoyed our walks out to the gazebo, and even saw a dolphin each morning! By the parking garage, you will find an ice cream shop. Delicious and sooo reasonably priced! We never got dessert at a restaurant...just came back and ate ice cream at the hotel! Also, the free Starbucks coffee in the lobby every morning was a nice touch! We ordered the breakfast buffet every morning. While it is pricey (kids should really be much cheaper as our daughter only had fruit and toast), it was delicious and so fresh! (the salsa for the eggs is wonderful)!!All in all, we loved our time at this Resort/hotel! So much so, that we didn't want to leave to see other attractions during the day. It was our first experience at a Hyatt & it certainly will not be our last!
This modern hotel is great to stay in. Although located near Tampa airport, we never heard airplanes in our room. The staff is very friendly and helpful. At the front desk, Susan accommodated numerous requests with a smile. Dining room staff was similarly accommodating. The breakfast was excellent and extensive. Having free parking was a plus. The grounds were immaculate, with a nature walk available. The rooms were clean and updated. Temperature control was easy and effective: the room was always comfortable. The only oversight was the lack of sufficient towel racks and hooks to permit saving towels for more than one day. This seems typical of many modern or updated hotels. We would be glad to save linens for re-use, but there is nowhere to hang them up. The closeness to the airport was also a convenience. Overall, a terrific hotel.
