Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando
- What's Included
Have just returned from a week and a half at Hard Rock Hotel Universal with my family - twins aged 9 1/2 and in laws a little older...we chose Hard Rock based on its strong reviews and location advantages and couldn't have asked for better! Hard Rock is a short drive from the main Airport (tip - if driving there are a couple of tolls, so have change to pay them before leaving the airport - currently $6 in bills and/or quarters will cover it). Plenty of parking on site, but on reflection we did not use the car we hired from Alamo much, so unless you plan to do lots of travelling, you could easily do without a vehicle and just use the cabs or free travel services to get to most places. The staff were friendly and helpful from the start, with one minor glitch on our room number quickly resolved. The rooms are spacious and ideal for our family of 4, with all the facilities you expect including a reasonable fridge (tip - there is a small grocery style store on the lower floor, or stock up on water soft drinks and small consumables for a lot less from the Walmart less than 10 mins drive away on Turkey Lane). There are also very good washing machine facilities on site, so don't over-pack clothes if you want to save luggage space for merchandise...there are also ice machines on each floor, which can be a little noisy at night, so you might enquire about a room not immediately next to them. Overall though the rooms were well sound proofed and the beds large and comfortable. Free wifi on site and easy to sign in to the service. The pool is great - large, not too deep so ideal for kids, well staffed with life guards and a good 260 ft slide. Free towels, plenty of loungers, and what I liked was the acoustic guitar performances each day, so you could chill out to talented live musicians while the kids played in the pool. Good range of bar food and drinks with great service too - thanks Robert! Further entertainment for the kids can be had from a small on site arcade - it is well designed with free cards you load with credits to play games, but to be honest there is so much better stuff to do we only spent ten minutes in it. A big advantage of the site is proximity to Universal studios with a frequent taxi boat service just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel - or you can walk straight there in under ten minutes on a well lit path. I'll do other reviews for the restaurants and other facilities and features, but in summary Hard Rock is a fabulous hotel for those looking to experience Universal studios along with a great break. I can't imagine booking anywhere else now!
We stayed at the Hard Rock hotel to make our visit to the UniversalParks as easy as possible. It all worked like a dream. We parked up and checked in to the Hard Rock hotel at 7:30am. This gave us time to check in, get temporary room keys and unlimited fast passes issued (all done via kiosks where they take your photo and print out your tickets) and make it to Islands of Adventure for 8am for the early hour entry to the Harry Potter section. We walked from the hotel as its only 5 minutes by foot. You can also get a complementary river taxi ride and just have to wait for the next one to come along. After a day in both parks we came back to the hotel and checked in formally to get access to our room. For this we got another set of room keys, all with your name printed on and a suitable character. A great memento. This room key then activates the car parking barrier for when you check out. After checking in we hit the pool. Plenty of loungers and two hot tubs. The music plays underwater too. The pool is big enough torelax and unwind in. The inside changing rooms are fully equipped with all types of toiletries so no need to worry if you forget anything. Complementary towels are ever present and we recommend the hooded full sun lounger towelling covers. We ordered some beers from the bar and then finished them off in the room.We got a river taxi to Universal City Walk for tea and then back to the hotel for another early start in the parks. We had a standard queen room and his was perfect for the four of us - two adults and two teens. The beds were so comfortable - we all had a great nights sleep.Checkout in the morning was quick and easy and we still had the early entry and unlimited fast passes for the second day too. Would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting universal. The price of the room is worth it as you all get the unlimited fast passes for two days. At parking is on top but at $22 for effectively 2 days parking and the ideal location of the hotel it's another perk of staying at the Hard Rock.
A fantastic hotel with absolutely everything you could need to keep all the family happy. The happy and welcoming atmosphere throughout is wonderful in such a high end quality hotel. With minutes walk to all the universal attractions this hotel makes everything so easy and stress free. The breakfast in the kitchen is outstanding and would throughly recommend. Don't hesitate to book this hotel you really do feel like you've had a holiday! Thank you.
I can now report that I have stayed at 3 of rhe on property Universal hotels. Hard Rock has very good service, very friendly, very accomodating. Nick checked us in and kindly offered to make room keys of our choice. We brought the grand kids and of course, presentation is everything. Loved the beach bar, aunt boo, was great, very attentative. All in all, one of our more enjoyable stays. After all, if you consider the price of a good hotel and add in fast passes, it is well worth it! Will definately be back!
This was our first stay at Hard Rock and I was afraid I would be disappointed as we usually stay at the Waldorf. Staff let us know on checking in about the text messaging services for any and all questions or concerns. I used it on several occasions with an instant reply or service. Staff is very friendly and does everything in their power to make your stay a success. Loved the Velvet Lounge for evening cocktails. Palm restaurant is very nice but also very pricey. The short walk or water taxis take you to Universal City Walk and to some excellent restaurants such as Emerills, Grill and Brew, Chocolate factory (amazing). Grounds and pool are very well maintained and staffed. Loved it!!
