Great On-Site Hotel Close to the Action

Having stayed on-site at Universal Orlando many times at the other hotels, we decided to try Hard Rock for something different on our most recent trip. As with the other hotels, we found everyone who worked there to be friendly, informative, and went out of their way to make our stay a great one!Our room was on the sixth floor overlooking the back of the Studios. We didn’t pay for any type of room view, so I was happy with what we got. The hotel is set up with several “hubs” and lots of corridors and I think by the end of our stay, I finally was able to find my way back and forth to my room! Of course, the others in my party had no trouble at all. Our room was spacious. There were 3 adults in our room and it was just fine for the 3 of us. We had two queen beds, there were a couple of chairs and a table by the window, and a couple of desk chairs and ample workspace where my husband would do a little computer work each morning. The bathroom was set up nicely in that it had a small sink in the enclosed bathtub/toilet area and then another larger vanity sink outside of that room, so while one of us was showing, others could be using the vanity sink for makeup, etc. Worked out well. We had a Keurig coffee maker and a small fridge, which was nice for storing unfinished food/drinks each day. During our stay, we grabbed a quick breakfast from Emack & Bolio’s each morning. The parfaits were great and large and we usually had one of those along with some tea or coffee. Nice selection of pastries, bagels, cereal, fresh fruit, etc. We also had dinner at The Kitchen upon our arrival the first night as it was late and we didn’t feel like venturing out too far. It happened to be character dining night. I had a minion sneak up behind me while eating. Lots of fun! A bit noisy, but a fun place with good food. We also treated ourselves to dinner at The Palm on our last night, as it was my husband’s birthday. We have eaten there before and, as always, exceptional! So dining at Hard Rock Hotel is good for sure.We did stop into the Velvet Lounge for a nightcap one evening. It has indoor and outdoor seating. There were a few large groups, convention goers I believe, but the servers were very attentive and made sure to give everyone good and quick service. The pool looked great, but the weather was chilly, so we did not get to use it. It is very large with a slide and underwater speakers. Hopefully it will be warmer next visit so we can take advantage of the pool. We also loved seeing all of the rock memorabilia throughout the hotel. I think my favorite was Elvis’ PJs! The best part of this hotel is its proximity to the parks and City Walk. We never had to use the boat from the hotel to go anywhere. We went to both parks, City Walk, and a few of the other on-site hotels for dinners, and it was an easy walk everywhere using he lovely tree-lined paths they have along the waterway. We always enjoy a nice stroll on those after a fabulous dinner. Great hotel with an attentive staff, clean rooms, tasty food choices, and good location. A must for anyone staying at Universal Orlando.

Outraged at complaint handling

Booked 2 rooms through Travel Agent to stay here 1 night end of our holiday, on arrival hotel could not find booking, then said I had booked & paid for 5 rooms, no I said I had only paid for 2. 3 months later I was wrongly directly to my card charged for 3 extra rooms! Immediately I contacted the hotel and then my agent and it has taken daily emails to push this complaint through, 3 weeks later they say they have refunded the payments but it's still not showing in my account! They simply said to my agent please send our apologies to the customer for this mistake, no mention of any compensation for worry, hassle and inconvenience. What if I had bank charges? Appalling customer service I even told them I had contacted the ombudsman but they still didn't respond to that surprising unprofessional for such a prestigious Hotel group. I shall not be using this Hotel chain again. A very unhappy customer.

Rock Royalty Wedding Anniversary

Over the 7 years I have been going to Florida I have stayed in some budget hotels and horrific ones on international drive, but last year we decided to ‘spoil ourselves’ and stay at the Royal Pacific for our honeymoon and the Hard Rock this year for our anniversary. I can safely say im converted to the on site hotels. I had emailed prior to our arrival that this would be our first wedding anniversary and asked if I could request a room with a pool view (there wasn’t an option when booking club level). Unfortunately we didn’t get the view we wanted but received a bottle of champagne the next day which was a nice touch. We decided on club level on the 7th floor for the convenience of drinks/snacks throughout the day. I would Recommend this to anyone as the costs for food etc in the hotel is expensive. We found that the evening snacks were enough for a full meal at times and we didn’t get bored of the choices over our 10 day stay. All types of alcohol were also available 5-7 and bottles of water were on hand at all times. We had a king room which although I liked the decor of, I felt it was missing an extra special touch for the price we paid and level we were on. The bathroom was exactly the same as in the Royal Pacific and does look dated. The noise is an issue on adjoining rooms which is a shame as I’ve seen other people have also experienced this.On the club level you also receive an evening turn down service, however 2 days of our stay we received neither service and had to call the reception to send someone up. Not a massive issue but not something that should happen at a 5* hotel. A nice touch though were the small gifts house keeping left such as fridge magnets and picks.Express passes and proximity to the parks is a major plus. We attended Halloween horror nights and on site hotel guests get to use a separate entrance which saves a lot of time. We only caught the water taxi once as Universal was a 5 minute walk away. The pool while shallow was plenty big enough to accommodate everyone and the films on the evenings (same of the Royal Pacific) were great. We did use the jacuzzi once but it was then out of order near the end of our stay.We ate at the kitchen for both lunch and dinner. Food was fine but the cocktails were very expensive for how much you got.All of the staff that we met were great, holding doors open, greeting us and were on hand for any questions we had.Apart from a couple of issues we did enjoy our stay and will be back (but only on club level!).

Wonderful Family Trip!

We recently stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando while visiting Universal Studios. Across the board the service, cleanliness, ambiance and overall feel was excellent. The rooms were comfortable, and well furnished and best of all quiet! The hotel was completely booked, but we felt like we were the only ones there!

Amazing hotel

The Hard Rock Orlando is truly top notch! The location can't be beat- just steps away from the theme parks. The staff here are top notch! They are all friendly, efficient, and very accommodating! The Rock Royalty level is unbelievable! We so enjoy all the daily food offerings and the staff here are truly the best!
