This hotel rocks

This has been my fifth visit to this hotel and it never disappoints. We spent 5 days with our family here. There were 14 of us in total. We opted for club level rooms. I've read several negative reviews regarding club level. However I think it's worth the money, especially when you have 5 people in the room. Breakfast is continental but contains hard boiled eggs and oatmeal. The room is open all day with snacks and drinks. Between 5 and 7, there is a cocktail party with beer and wine. The club room is small and can get crowded. You can take food back to your room. There is also dessert in the evening We were celebrating my sons 25 th birthday when we were there. They were wonderful. They gave him vouchers for signature cocktails and even sent a birthday dessert and beers to the roomThe pool and hot tubs are great. Food by the pool is good but pricey. Portions are a decent size. I liked that you can text questions and requests to the front desk. My son became ill while on vacation. They helped me locate a doctor and arranged for a taxi. All in all a wonderful trip. Can't wait to return

Excellent Stay at the Hard Rock

Our family of four (2 adults and 2 children ages 11 & 15) checked in on March 9 for a 4 night stay in a pool view room at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando. We arrived at about 9pm and the check in process was very fast. The front desk staff was friendly and informative. After unpacking I noticed that the in-room safe was not working. This was a problem for us because we have no interest in taking passports and wallets to the park. I called the front desk and asked to have someone come to fix it. I won't give all the details but by 11:30pm, after many people had come in and out of the room, I was called by Kenneth at the front desk to be informed that it would not be able to be fixed until tomorrow. Since we were going to the park early in the morning we could leave our passports and other valuables at the front desk safe. We did not want to risk a problem with the safe not being fixed so the next morning, when Kenneth offered to do a blind room change for us, we thought it better to just switch rooms into one where Kenneth would double check to ensure there was a working safe. So, we packed up our stuff, left our valuables in the front desk safe, and went to the park. I received a text from Kenneth around 10:30 advising that the room switch was done and that we could pick up our new room keys at any time. When we arrived to the new room in mid afternoon, our luggage was there, our safe worked, and we had a very nice complimentary amenities package waiting for us with a note from Kenneth apologizing for the inconvenience. So, while our initial impression of the hotel was tainted by the inconvenience of the first room, Kenneth's fast and very courteous response to the situation completely erased our first impressions. In fact the service of the entire staff from Kenneth and the rest of the the front desk staff, to housekeeping and the waiters at the Kitchen was awesome. The staff in the Rock Store were also amazing. I bought something from the Hard Rock cafe and specifically asked if I could return it at the store in the hotel if it didn't fit and was told yes by two different people. Unfortunately I was given bad information and when I did try to return it at the hotel store I was informed by the staff there that they don't accept returns from the restaurant store. However, as I was checking out early the next morning and it was already very late at night, the manager of the store called the restaurant store and did a refund for me over the phone. The hotel store manager was very friendly and really did go out of his way to help me and for that I was very appreciative. The room was a good size for a family of four. It comes with two queen beds but we chose to pay for a cot as our kids prefer to sleep in seperate beds. Even with the cot in the room, we still felt that there was enough room.We enjoyed the decor of the hotel, and really liked the rock videos that played 24 hours a day in the lobby. My husband and I realized that it's been a really long time since we saw music videos and found it quite nostalgic. We only ate in The Kitchen, but the food was very good. Some reviewers have mentioned that it is overpriced, but we found the cost to be on par with what other 5 star resorts charge in their restaurants. The pool area was very nice. We never had trouble finding a chair in the shade and the kids liked the water slide. The drink service by the pool was a little slow, but not a big deal. The proximity to the parks and the complimentary Universal Express Pass is invaluable. It's a five minute walk to the gate of Universal if you leave the hotel through the pool entrance, and a 10 minute walk to the gate of Islands of Adventure. There is also a water taxi if you prefer. We never used it it because the walk was very pleasant. We ate at Bubba Gumps and The Hard Rock Cafe in City Walk and had good experiences in both restaurants. Again I have read reviews that say that the restaurants are over priced in the entire Universal complex. I have to assume that the people who complain about the cost have not stayed in other resort areas. Yes things are more expensive than at home, but it's a resort area and to be expected and really their prices are not crazy.Other reviewers have complained that they were not aware of the $22 a day self parking fee. We had a car, I knew what the parking rates were before booking the hotel and choose to park. However, I still feel that given the cost of staying at the hotel, self parking should be included. I get paying for parking at an airport hotel or in a big city like Manhattan where there is so little parking, but I do think it's a little ridiculous to pay for parking at an Orlando resort. The parking issue is the only real complaint I have about the hotel and it isn't enough if an issue to have us not return.I highly recommend the Hard Rock Universal Hotel. We will absolutely stay here again. on our next Universal trip.

Brief and Enjoyable Stay at a Great Hotel

We (family of 4) only stayed one night to take advantage of the express pass perks that come with staying at a resort property. We were totally surprised at the quality of service, rooms and amenities the property offered. Kids enjoyed the awesome pool area, while the parents enjoyed the Beach Club bar overlooking the pool. Everything was very clean and had a good vibe. We will be back.
