Hawthorn Suites Lake Buena Vista
- What's Included
We stayed at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham for seven nights. Nice hotel with great staff. Excellent location for all Disney parks, Universal studios, lots of restaurants and Wynn Dixie supermarket is 5 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk.
Unreal Services had a great experience. I liked that there was a couple free beers ready for us when we got back from our conference. I give a 100 percent recommendation to the Hawthorne by Wyndham.By Kevin J
We stayed at the Hawthorn Suites for 14 nights. From the minute we arrived we felt very welcome and comfortable. Beatriz on the front desk was brilliant through the check in procedure and was very helpful throughout our stay, as were the other reception staff. The happy hour was great for relaxing by the pool and Mayra serving was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was good, room was nice and the pool area was great, the kids loved it on our days off from the parks. The surroundings of the pool area were always brilliant, perfect place to meet other families and socialise. The hotel is situated approx 25 minutes walk from Disney Springs and a quick $7 uber ride away from Epcot. There are loads of restaurants within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family and will be rebooking for next year for sure.
We (couple in mid-20s) stayed at the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Lake Buena Vista for seven nights around Easter weekend. It wasn't good.I want to justify my reasoning for writing this review, so here is a brief breakdown of each aspect of our stay, followed by a more lengthy explanation below, so any future travelers can decide whether they'd be willing to stay at this location.Location/facilities - 3/5: Location is convenient if not walkable. Interior of hotel is very run-down and covered wall-to-wall with shabby promotional material. Pool is fine.Staff/service - 2/5: Not a single. smile. from staff the entire time we were here. Considering this place touts itself as a Disney "Good Neighbor", the cold indifference of the people working here was surprising, to say the least. Made us feel like we were inconveniencing THEM by staying at the hotel.Housekeeping missed a day or two, and wasn't very thorough. Left overflowing trash, splattered mirror, etc. Which brings us to...Rooms - 1/5 to 2/5: I'll explain the situation with the rooms below, but if you're stuck in a non-suite room (yes, they have those even if it's not obvious from the website) prepare for gross. The actual suite was nice and spacious, barring stains, smears, mold, and most things in disrepair.Breakfast - 2/5: Absolutely disgusting. Gets an extra star for being included in hotel price. The details: First of all, a disclaimer. We booked through Expedia, like we have for nearly every other trip including in Orlando. I understand the disdain hotels and other travel services have for Expedia, often times giving bookees last priority on rooms and services. But I pose a question: if you want your potential guests to book direct so badly, and will punish guests who use third-party booking sites, why offer your location on Expedia? With that said, the room we got through Expedia was not a room we wanted. This was not clear until we arrived at the property. I am not docking points for this because technically it was our oversight. According to a property map there are 4 non-suite rooms (at Hawthorn SUITES) on each floor. This room was tiny, gross, and had no fridge or anything. Another issue was that a Wyndham representative CALLED ME to confirm our reservation about a week before our stay and verbally confirmed that we would be getting a SUITE. The front desk staff at the Hawthorn acted like I was crazy when I told them that, ala "I don't know anything about that".It took four tries to get a room upgrade, and it was like pulling teeth. I had to show the front desk that nowhere on the website did it advertise a non-suite room. We still paid for it because "we booked through Expedia", but at least we had a 'better' room for the latter half of our stay. All the Expedia talk left us feeling unwelcome, and we were made to feel like a burden. The suite we finally got was OK, was big and spacious, which a small kitchenette and living area. Nice bed. Stained carpet and walls. Housekeeping was spotty.Breakfast was disgusting, with rubbery microwaved eggs, bone-dry "sausage", and stale bread...BUT it was included in the hotel price. This would be a great deal of you have a horde of kids to fill up before hitting the parks. Can't say no to free! Breakfast seating area was spacious and was able to accommodate guests despite crowds.Pool was great, and open late (10 PM), and it was nice to use the hot tub after a long day.The only friendly encounter we had with staff was at the very end, after checking out; the front desk held onto our luggage so we could go out before our flight home. Thank you for that.I think I covered everything here. We will not be staying at the Hawthorn Suites again, and will think twice before staying anywhere with a "Wyndham" name on it due to a misleading experience and very poor service. I would never recommend this location to anyone unless they have lots of kids and don't mind paying 3-star prices for 2-star quality.
This hotel was the perfect choice for our needs. It was quiet, clean, convenient, and affordable.
