Holiday Inn & Suites Across from Universal Orlando
- What's Included
The service at the front desk and bellhop were great! After arriving at the hotel around midnight, and grabbing a snack from the TGI Fridays, I didn't actually get to bed until around 1:00am. This wouldn't have mattered much except there was a 7:00AM fire alarm. Some idiot pulled the alarm! The staff handled it greatly and event made me laugh by saying "We want to get everyone inside on this chilly day" I am from New England, 60 is NOT COLD lol. My only complaints would be:1. The gentleman at the Guest Service desk (the one who schedules trips to Disney and Universal) was a little on the rude side and seemed like he did not want to speak to me. 2. There was no compensation for the fire alarm inconvenience. I know it wasn't 100% the hotels fault, but something small would have been nice. I did walk down 9 flights of stairs!!! All in all, I would 100% stay here again!
The hotel was clean and provided us a convenient location to be able to walk over to Universal. The hotel provided a shuttle which runs a limited schedule in the morning and afternoon. They ask that you get a boarding pass ahead of time if you want to ride the shuttle. The hotel has arrangements with TGI Friday's next door for breakfast and room service.
Hubby and I had a re-do of our disastrous anniversary and a Valentine's Day getaway to Universal for 2 days. This hotel was the best. I especially want to recognize CeeCee (spelling) and Raphael who pushing through the best accommodations for our stay. Your sincere understanding and compassion for us did not go unnoticed and Is Greatly appreciated! Hopefully the construction around the area cleans up soon so that others can enjoy. I know that Orlando is in the process of creating the new theme park-a Volcano Island so the surrounding area seems to be reconstructing to adjust to the new park coming. Universal studios is a hop, skip and a jump away- across the street. (Though the actual park is not walking distance)They offer a shuttle to get there at certain times. We didn't take it, we had our own car & being a Premier member at universal, we get free Parking. The one thing that we will frown on is the buffet breakfast at TGI Friday's. Though my hubs & I had breakfast vouchers for our first morning, we would not be returning the next day to pay $12+tx, (not including beverages) for a buffet that was close to continental. So if we were to visit again, we'll be packing some breakfast items. Or Hopefully they make changes by the time we return. We also had dinner there the first night. That again was a no-go. I'll post about their restaurant on another review. Thank you for helping us have a Great Valentine's! 💝
This is a great hotel whether you are visiting the theme parks or attending a business meeting. The facilities are great and the rooms are comfortable.Has a restaurant on site and plenty of parking. Handy for any occaision
This is hotel has great value if you want to stay close to Universal but not dish out the money to stay on site. It's an easy 10min walk to Universal. There is also a shuttle to and from the hotel - just be sure to note the route back from Universal as we were one of the last stops on the route and it took over 30mins to get back. We would have walked had we known. The hotel staff were very nice and promptly dealt with any request. The pool area needed towels and when it was brought to their attention they had them replaced within 5 mins. Given that the hwys and busy streets were surrounding the hotel I would only recommend the location for trips to Universal as it is quite noisy...the hotel does it's best though to mask the noise.
