I was very pleased with the front desk upon arrival and departure. The bed was very comfortable, water pressure good and the AC worked very well - not always the case. We had a two bedroom / two bathroom suite with living room sofa bed and full kitchen. We will stay again if the opportunity arises.
Found the hotel to be ideally placed near universal studiosExcellent bars and restaurants close by including Walgreen for basic requirements Staff were friendly and helpful including making bookings for transport and trips to attractions Room was clean tidy and spacious Would not hesitate in staying there again
I am a platinum member with holiday Inn, and upon checking in at the hotel on Jan 2, had my reservation canceled and the manager that called me back was very unprofessional and rude, I would not recommend the hotel for anyone due to bad customer service at the hotel
Stayed in this hotel for 2 week in May 2016. Rooms were clean, we stayed in a suite which had cooker, fridge and microwave. 2 double beds. What a great location for Universal Studios, only 20 minutes walk. Nice pool, just not large enough for the amount of guests. Laundry facilities. Good ample car parking and gives great access to the main roads to take you in any direction and only A short drive to International Drive.
First- this property does not offer an airport shuttle. $60 for our family to travel via shuttle from the airport. You can catch an uber for a bit less if you are able to catch a taxi or (better yet!) the city bus to just outside the confines of the airport. Easy for a couple, or with older kids- a bit of a hassle with small children and baby gear. On first impression, the lobby was bright and updated, decorated nicely for the holidays. There was a line at the front desk and check in took much longer than I had anticipated at roughly 7pm. The staff was friendly and the gentleman checking us in advised us of their "kids eat free" voucher in conjuction with the TGIFriday connected to the property. In short, if 2 adults are purchasing meals (breakfast buffet included), then 2 kids per adult eat "free". We inquired about the hotel shuttle to Universal and were informed we needed to schedule a time with the staff at the information desk but they were closed for the evening. They opened later than we were planning to be out and on our way in the morning. It would have been nice to have known this information in advance. We proceeded to our room, and were immediately accosted with a STRONG smell in the corridor leading to the elevators. I would liken it to a very chemical- laced air freshener being sprayed very, very liberally. It was very offputting. The smell continued on our guestroom floor (the 4th) and in our room. I was honestly concerned I may not be able to stay at this location due to the extremely strong smell. The room was dated. The carpet had stained areas. I started to think the smell may be from some overly aggressive carpet shampooing throughout the hotel- as it didn't smell in the areas with only tile. The pullout sofa looked worn and dirty. These sofas needs to be replaced. The tables around the room had dings, etc. The beds were comfortable and appeared clean. The bathroom needs to be renovated. The tiles were worn looking and had some mildew stains in the grout. I figured, for the price we paid, it worked. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and had some awesome oatmeal. We likely got our money's worth out of the breakfast but not so much with the dinners. Kids can only order of the kids' menu which was limited. The service is also INCREDIBLY slow. Our waiter on 3 occasions was friendly but had no concept of a family trying to eat quickly to get back to the room to REST. On another occasion, our boneless wings were delivered cold- a disappointment for sure- but our server took them back and took them off the bill. Overall, food was lackluster but probably the best deal we could get with a family eating out in this area.The first night we arrived back late and ordered pizza from a flyer placed under our door (a mistake we will NEVER make again). This company- New York Pizza (which after the fact we discovered goes by also Sicilian Pizza and Little Italy Pizza) caused a huge amount of strife on our trip. Very long story short, we ordered- were told 1 hour wait and had to pay cash- FINE. We were hungry and tired. 1 hour came and went and finally, 2 hours later we were delivered a DEAD COLD pizza that was completely stuck to the bottom of the box and swindled out of $25 for it. My husband called the "company" after we opened the pizza and saw that it was inedible and the "manager" proceeded to argue and berate him. In the end, we found out from the front desk staff that this pizza company is actually not even a legitimate business and that the listed address is a fake! BUT- the hotel front desk is aware of it! And we were never warned at check in. I feel that this hotel needs to take more proactive steps to preventing these flyers from being distributed- warning guests- and taking appropriate action with the local authorities. This property is the only one literally within walking distance to Universal without beign on property. We walked each day, with children ranging in ages from 4 months to 12 years old, no complaints. That was THE biggest plus. However- once you factor in the cost to and from the airport, the inconvenience of shuttle times (the first morning we asked about taking the shuttle but we had missed the first appointment slot and the next wasn't until 9:30! On the busiest week of the year!!!), the lack of provided express passes and early admission- it really probably would have suited us better to have stayed on property and had the use of the water taxis, or at least a bit shorter walk and the cost of the express passes alone for a family of 5 would have exceed our ENTIRE stay at this propery, 3 fold. Yes. Overall, we likely won't return- and will spend the extra money upfront to enjoy more amenities (and cleanliness!) on our trip.
