Holiday Inn & Suites Across from Universal Orlando
- What's Included
We stayed here for 10 nights with 2 kids (13 & 11). Universal was going to be a big part of our holiday so the location was a large reason for picking this hotel. It's just a 20 minute walk (approx) from an entrance to Universal which crosses a couple of main roads but both have pedestrian crossing. The hotel offers a shuttle service but we found the walk very easy. We stayed in a suite on the 8th floor which was very nice. Good size, although the bathroom was a bit small. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The staff in the hotel were all friendly and helpful. The only criticism would be that it was a bit of a daily lottery as to whether housekeeping would leave any towels or not. On the 3-4 occasions they didn't we went to reception and got as many as we needed immediately. All in all, I think this was a good 3 star hotel which I would happily return to and I would recommend it. Having read some other reviews, I would suggest anyone considering coming here reads up on the facilities etc before booking as quite a few assumptions are being made.
Very nice hotel, excellent service.Near to universal studios, shuttle service to studios, near shoppiung mall, big parking lot. front desk selling day price tickets to orlando attractions.Restaurant (TGI Fridays) nearby, other restaurants within 500 yards.
The hotel has a great location for Universal. You could walk over but we took Uber. To save on parking and you get dropped of with the least amount of walking to the entrance. The rooms were clean and functional. We had a two bedroom suite which was great for 6 of us.We will stay again. The TGI Friday's next door is horrible. They do give kids under 12 a free breakfast from the hotel but the service is the worst I have ever seen!
You are free to check all of my posts for perspective, at best, all are honest and seek to accentuate the positives and keep fellow travelers well informed; this on the other hand was an exhausting trip with ill family member where Avis (airport) losses rental car reservation and offers "cargo van" as replacement for premium SUV. Follow that two hour curbside adventure that ends with a cab that gives new meaning to bad smell and then this hotel has "no record" of our reservation. So it starts bad.The on-duty staff was great and without delay did find us a very "standard" room; first floor immediately adjacent to smokers garden (people do enjoy the area almost 24/7, so I may take it up). The best I can say is, not what we expect or are used to from IHG brand. No breakfast, not even coffee in lobby. Pool is small and generally very crowded. Good news, there is free off street parking (was would be handy if you were fortunate to get a rental car). The room we were able to get was clean and appeared to be recently remolded. The bathroom was not only small but had absolutely no towel racks or even hook on back of door. Room noise was loud and appeared to be dated construction (adjoining room door on both sides, not insulated, most definitely not sound proof). Location is not immediately accessible to anything; Universal is "across the street" but it is a six/seven lane highway with high traffic load for 20 of the 24 hours in each day and then it is basically the back entrance that appeared to be for people that work there. Definitely not within walking distance for most people or families with small children.
Matthew was very friendly and extremely helpful. He was over all an awesome guy. Thanks a lot for the awesome stay at the hotel. Also the hotel rooms were nice. #Matthewisthebest #Matthewforpresident2020
