Holiday Inn & Suites Across from Universal Orlando
- What's Included
We booked 3 rooms on the 7th floor. All 3 rooms had two full size beds. Rooms were clean. Bathrooms were clean. Beds comfortable. We didn’t use the pool so I cannot comment. We rented a car so didn’t require the shuttle service. Surprisingly there is a fee to use the business center. To use the computer there was a charge per minute, plus charge per copy. My husband, being a Holiday Inn platinum elite member, has never had to pay in other Holiday Inn properties. Beware, even if you don’t want the housekeeping staff to service your room and put out the “shhhh” sign they may come in anyway to change your sheets and clean the room. My sons girlfriend had some socks in the bed and they were whisked away with the sheets. Overall, good hotel and great location to Universal. I would stay again.
I love this place because of Rafael. He is AWESOME!!!!! Every time I go to Orlando we stay here. Rafael is always so nice and friendly. Always has a smile on his face and says welcome back. He always remembers me when I walk in the door.
This hotel is ideally located for Universal Studios. The park provides an excellent bus service to and from Universal. Thanks Ronnie (bus driver) for the rides into the park and the clear information on transport. The hotel is ok. A major disappointment is that the hotels bar and restaurant is a T.G.I Fridays such terrible service and attitude of staff. The room is fine we booked a standard room, it was dispointing to not get the king bed or one bed for the room we requested. Those twin room doubles are small and myself and my girlfriend are not big people.
Myself and my fiancé stayed here for 11 nights and chose it due to its low cost and close position to Universal Studios and Citywalk. I'll be as honest and straight as I can and have grouped everything below into categories. Check In- Check in was quick and smooth. Front desk were as helpful as they needed to be. No complaints whatsoever. Room- Our room was modern and clean with a good powerful shower, two clean and very, very comfortable beds with a great air con system so you were never warm if you didn't want to be. - Fridge and microwave were very convenient if you want to buy cereal etc. - WiFi was good in our room (5th floor) but my phone couldn't connect for some reason but my fiancé had great connection. - Slight smell of damp if the air con had not been on during the day but nothing that was uncomfortable for us and we usually stay in 5* hotels on our vacations. - Large rooms!Shuttle service- Shuttle service costs $12 each return to Disney. MUCH CHEAPER THAN A TAXI/CAB. - Always on time and very nice and helpful drivers. - We did not use the shuttle to universal as it was a short walk away.Location- This hotel is NOT on international drive but is very close to it. - You can walk to universal studios very easily and it takes around 10-15 minutes. Very easy and straight forward. - Around 20 minute drive from Disney parks. Transport & Parking- We did not hire a car for our visit but the local transport; Uber, shuttle, taxi, I-trolley is more than easy enough to use. - Taxi journey to and from Disney is around $90 return journey using a taxi/hotel company. - We used an Uber most of the time to get anywhere we needed to be which is easy to use and cheap. All our drivers were great. Hotel Food & Drink - We used TGI Fridays once for breakfast and it wasn't great... However, it's $12 for an all you can eat breakfast, (so what do you expect)! Instead, I would recommend walking to the nearest I-HOP, (5-10 minute walk away past the double tree Hilton) as that is just as cheap and much better quality and variety. - Small shop in reception which had different drinks, easy to grab snacks and basic merchandise from the parks. Summary- We would definitely recommend this hotel as the value for money is good and the rooms are very comfortable and large! Some things could be better, (so could every hotel/accommodation) but I think that some people have very high expectations for a relatively cheap accommodation option. If you want Disney quality or Hilton quality, I would recommend staying at either one of those... you get what you pay for here and I would stay again and save myself some cash. Hope this helps for anyone looking for a fully honest review!
We have stayed at many Holiday Inn's, our go to hotel, we know what we get! Friendly welcoming front desk, fresh cleaned rooms, free breakfast....until we walked into the Holiday Inn Kirkman Rd. across from Universal Studio Orlando!! We walked up to the desk to check in and got a very unwelcoming, unfriendly, uninformative Jenn!!! Wow is she in the wrong industry, not in the mood to answer our questions, or offer any information as to where to park, where the elevator is, pool hours etc..you know what every other hotel offers. Information!! It wasn't busy!?!? No free breakfast?? Only for children? The room was not like other Holiday Inn's we were used to. The furniture was worn and sticky, bed was ok, bedding smelled fresh. Bathroom was gross, floor did not look clean. Has 3 elevators, all three were broke on one of the days, we had to use the stairs. By the next day and the rest of our stay 2 elevators were working but didn't sound safe!! Holiday Inn on International Blvd. is 1000 times nicer and cleaner than this one!! We should have listened to the 3 star rating!!!
