International Palms Resort Cocoa Beach
- What's Included
Because of the great location, this was probably the 4th or 5th time I've stayed here. Rooms are just steps to a nice beach. Mangos has pretty good food (usually) and decent priced drinks. If you get a renovated room, like we did a couple months ago, it's not bad at all. This trip however, no such luck. Our front door had a 1/2" gap around the sides and at least an inch on the bottom. Bathroom door had a door knob that wasn't really attached to the door -- kind of floating in the middle. We saw at least 30 little bugs on the counter -- I don't know how you could keep them out with the door gap.Good location with good nearby restaurants. If I do return, I'll ask for a renovated room.
The room I was in was very comfortable. The bathroom could certainly have used some work but all in all not a bad experience. I was on the ground floor so I did have some foot traffic past my door at all hours, but not much you can do about that. The location is great being just off the beach, with a few paths out to the beach available.I didn't take advantage of the pool or other activities, but it was nice to see a tennis court, basketball court and other sorts of activities available. The on-site bar Mambo's was a great spot to hang out and have a drink.
Booked this hotel for a cub scout trip with my son. First night I had to kick the door closed and didn't get a wink of sleep because we were directly across from the ice machine. Next morning I'm up at 6am so i take a shower. In the middle of taking a shower the light went out. Ok i live in Florida i know we get black outs so... Fine...whatever. I get out of the shower, still no light and open the door and the TV and night light are on. I touch the switch it flickers and makes noises so i grab my shoe and shut it off. (I'm an electricians daughter i knew immediately we couldn't touch it) after my son was up and we were ready to leave i went and told the front desk and they assured me someone would fix it while we were gone. We got back at around 7pm and it wasn't fixed. Went back to the lobby and told them again and then went to the pool that is a free for all with junk thrown all over because no one cleans up. There were no towels because they were piled up every where thankfully i had my own.We get back to the room and i didn't bother to check because she told me it would be done. Next morning (3-22-17) i flipped the switch, half asleep and i received an electrical shock. I called the front repeatedly and no one answered. I called for an hour straight without an answer. I couldn't leave my son so i waited for him to wake up. I was getting him clothes and him being half asleep, he also turned the switch on and it started shooting and spitting sparks. This time i was livid! I went to the lobby and guess what.... There were other people complaining about broken doors, handles falling off etc etc etc. I told them i was shocked and its now shooting sparks. Thirty minutes later the maintenance arrives. HE SHOVED A SCREW DRIVER INTO THE OUTLET WITH US IN THE ROOM. Sparks flying everywhere all the lights obviously went out and he smiled. SERIOUSLY.....I left the room..... I come back 30 minutes later and the light is fixed but now the toilet paper holder is broken out of the wall, there's pieces of wall on my floor and part of the ceiling fell onto my luggage near the window. Stear clear of 242. I've had some bad hotels but electrical issues are no joke. I was shocked and if it had been my son it would off been much worse for them. btw i wish i could load the video to show you the light show from the bathroom and the sizzling noise of the wires... I was told "don't worry you won't be charged for the damage" ... My Resort fees are already refunded now I'm going after the company i booked with and calling my credit card company.
Save your money and go else where... very dirty old outdated !!! The worst in cocoa beach!!The beach is beautiful but this hotel it's pool it's service and the rooms which by the way I reserved the best room they had....it's the worst place I have stayed at on all of Florida's Beaches!!!
WARNING DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL unless of course you don't mind probably the most stressful atmosphere of anywhere I have ever traveled. Here is why I say this and here's a summary of my trip from the 20th to today the 24th of March . First off I was supposed to have checked out tomorrow. ...Upon arrival after calling from 1 to 330 to see when I could finally check in because they obviously over booked I stood in a line of about 10 to 12 people both guest and check in. I noticed a few people complaining right off the bat I brushed it off the check in process was long but seemed OK. After arriving into the stuffy smelly room we find our air doesn't work...we called 4 times nobody answered the phone I found a worker who sent someone to my room before I was even there he proceeded to tell me it was normal and to give it a few hours had problems with it the rest of the stay well in that room. Then we realized the cable paused about every 30 secs along with being burnt by the shower which was set way to hot the fridge was a piece of junk ruined most of our food. Went to the front to ask why we can't get a hold of anyone by phone they admitted they don't answer them !!! What!! Anytime we needed anything we had to walk all the way to the front which wasn't close just to ask for something as small as towels. Now they charge a resort fee....Idk why because we couldn't use the pool or the spa or the basketball courts or the firepits or even the fitness room you may be wondering why...unsupervised children why so many unsupervised children because there parents sit at the bar all day. You pay a resort fee but then have to pay a huge price for on site alcohol smores regular drinks food including breakfast (12.00) a person ridiculous. ..continuing on with the stress all the outlets are messed up all the doors on the rooms are loose all key cards eventually stop working you need your key for pool spa and just walking around different entrances which once again don't always work. We finally got to sit by the pool by going early and came back to find a huge mess that night after dinner from the 2nd floor bath pan leaking through the ceiling the ceiling was also soft and looked as though it had been fixed 5 or 6 times (dont stay in 1078)so we had to pack all of our stuff plus our 2 dogs and move to a more dark sketchy part of the building because of the leak all they did was want to refund the resort fees (which they should anyways ) getting into the new room to find people's cigarette smoke leaking through into the room a/c was broke in here too of course that night was not very quite and I was almost hit by a car in the parking lot as it was so dark the person didn't see me or my dog. All the while this is going on iam complaining they don't care w finally decided it was time to go when last night kids were running up and down the stairs knocking on everyone's door a drug deal was going on outside my room as well as escorting (prostitution) and a actual physical fight that scared my wife so bad she made me prop a chair up on the door that night and told me she wanted to leave this all happened from 8pm to 12am we just couldn't take it anymore we were stressed the whole time I WISH I WOULD HAVE BEEN WARNED BY A MESSAGE LIKE THIS I don't write a lot of reviews but I would hate for anyone to stay here even the manager himself said this place is out of control pay extra to be safe worse place I have ever stayed!! Save yourself
