Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando
- What's Included
We are big fans of Disney hospitality, so weren't expecting the Royal Pacific to measure up. For the most part we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is beautiful, from the entrance to the pool area. Everything was spotless - having been a chambermaid at a resort during my college summers, I am about all the details, and this did not disappoint. From the grand entrance, to the garden paths, to the daily maid service, this place is consistently immaculate from early morning until late at night. The benefits of staying at the on-site hotels adds tremendous value - the Express Passes and the extra hour in the Wizarding World were a significant benefit for our family. Also, the ease of transportation (a 10 minute beautiful walk to the park along the Garden Path, or a fun ride on the included water taxi) to the parks themselves makes staying on-site an easy choice. The staff were all consistently friendly and helpful, never failing to greet us with a smile and to meet our needs. Just a couple of negatives. The mattress in our room wasn't great. It definitely had a dip in the middle, and my husband felt that it was lumpy. Also, the bathroom design was poor, in our opinion. The door separating the shower and toilet area was a sliding door with frosted glass. A physical barrier for sure, but with no latch at all, privacy was just an illusion. The door slides quite easily, which speaks well of the cleanliness and maintenance, but eliminates any real feelings of privacy. Couple that with the fact that there is no fan / ventilation to enable, and you have a complete romance killing situation. No one really wants to share that much. Also good to know, there is a Starbucks just a short walk away in CityWalk. We are vegan, and coffee snobs, so being able to get a great latte with soy milk is a priority.
1st off if you are going to go to Universal Studios for more than 1 day then stay at one of their hotels. The Express Pass that is included into the price is worth it. Especially if you have a family. At $54 - $84 a day PER PERSON is very expensive if you have a family. I have 5 family members, we all shared one room, all got the express pass. If you don't have this going into the parks then expect to wait forever for rides. During the day rides going for 60 - 90 min but with express pass you get in much quicker. Don't even think about it if going during a peak week. As far as the resort goes it was beautiful. Very friendly and relaxing decorated which is much needed break away from the park. The staff was always super friendly and helpful. Even smiling and friendly on Thanksgiving day when everyone else is on vacation or with family. That includes the cleaning staff. They always greeted us with a friendly good morning or glad to see you comment every time we passed them. The pool is very large, some tubes and ball were included, and a great place to play for the kids. There is a outside bar with TV right next to it for parents to get a drink or there is chair side service. They played movies at night and other activities like hula hoop contests. Never felt crowded or even had a problem finding a chair even during a week where everything is booked. The ferry ride to the park was relaxing and great way to get off your feet when going back to the hotel. The location is great that you can do a 5-10 min walk to the parks or a quick walk to City Walk. There is a shuttle to Wet N Wild as well that we used. For Free even. When does that ever happen? As you can tell, I thought it was worth it. I never stay on site but in this case it was worth the extra cost which was to save me time in the parks and to be pampered and relaxed when I got back.
We checked into the Royal Pacific to get a quick break from Disney and we are so happy we did! The decor is amazing, the hotel smells sweet like flowers, and the front desk staff was awesome! Bonus Express pass when you stay which makes it quick and easy to get through the parks with small children. The ferry boat to Universal/IOA is super quick and gets you to the parks fast! Our room was nicely decorated and the beds were extra comfy. My middle son (2 years old) slept perfectly well in the portable crib and I am happy it wasn't a pack and play as those seem to be uncomfortable for him, and we got a little package of baby soaps, shampoo, baby lotion, and diaper rash cream. A nice little touch as washing his hair with regular shampoo can get tricky trying to keep it out of his eyes! Overall, we would definitely stay here again!
I had an issue with the bathroom not being cleaned (hair in the shower when we first arrived) and the seal to the shower being terribly ripped/torn which resulted in water all over the floor - I slipped getting out of the shower from the water on the floor and ended up with a bruise. Informed the woman at the front desk and was treated like I was lying - I offered to show her personally if she'd follow me up to my room, but was told that she did't have the ability to do that. I was offered a tiny credit and once I got to the parks, only half of the credit worked and the rest was "rejected". The hotel itself is very beautiful and perhaps other people will have a better experience than mine, but if you do have an issue on your trip, I wouldn't expect them to care very much. We also stayed at Disney World and they couldn't have been more helpful with absolutely everything. Just my opinion.
We enjoyed the convenience of being onsite the Universal parks and the club lounge that saved us lots of time .l Royal Pacific Hotel is beautiful, the best part was to get early park admission and that our park tickets were included in the stay package. No need to rent a car.
