Oak Plantation Resort
- What's Included
Right from check-in to check-out we had nothing but a great experience. When I reserved our room, I asked for it to be close to the pool (which didn't get sent along from the 3rd party site) and I mentioned it when we checked-in. No problem, they changed us to a room closer to the pool. The TV remotes were missing and they sent them right away. The bathroom sink plug was stuck and they quickly sent maintenance to fix it. The pools were clean and nice to swim in, and the hot tub was relaxing to sit in after a long day. The peacocks were beautiful and nice to see/watch. Walked around the resort to check things out and were amazed to find a car wash station (you don't usually find this at other resorts). They do need to update the binders they have in the rooms as the ice machine was not in building #2 and was not accessible after the other building closed but ask at the desk and they will deliver ice to your door for you. They will deliver almost anything that you need to your door (as it was explained to us, if it's in your condo, you can have it delivered--ie. coffee packs, dishwasher soap). Housekeeping was daily which included towels, garbage removal, bed being made, etc. The resort is busy doing renovations in different buildings which is nice since a few people have said it is needed (there were some things we seen but nothing major). We enjoyed the area as it was nice, peaceful and quiet. We didn't really notice the airport noise like others have complained about. I think the peacocks made more noise than the airport lol. Would we go back again--definitely!!!! Thank you Oak Plantation Resort for a nice relaxing vacation!!!!!!
We have been timeshare owners here for 17 years. Place is getting very rundown. Had to have 3 different tv's before we could get one that worked in our bedroom. Safe in room didn't work and no one came to look at it even though we requested it. Supposed to have mid-week maid service, never showed. Had wet spot in carpet in hall that was never addressed. For a unit that can sleep 10 people had 1 frying pan, 2 sauce pans and a dutch oven. Had a mix up at check in, we have never had an upstairs unit but they claim our unit is one, had to battle to get switched to a downstairs unit. We were also told that our unit had been refurbished but it is obvious it has not. Had no towels at check in, came back to the room and there was a big bag of towels just plopped in the chair. None put in the bathrooms. Grounds are really in need of cleaning up. When we purchased this was a great place but it really needs a facelift. When we complain they say it is because people have not paid thier maintenance fees, we aren't buying it. Staff does a good job with what they have to work with but management needs to wake up.
After reading the reviews for Oak Plantation I was a little concerned, however, I have seldom come across such friendly, helpful staff while checking in anywhere. Many thanks to Jaelyn and Kourtney at the front desk (on her second day on the job, no less!) for making check-in so pleasant! I had a room in building 1, which was conveniently located next to the pools. I had a huge first floor one bedroom condo, with comfortable furniture. I did call for maintenance because I couldn't get the living room TV to work, and someone showed up within 10 minutes and the issue was fixed. Also, my first morning I called the front desk at 7:15am to complain about the noise the buy with the leaf blower was making outside my room and please speak to the manager about having that done a little later in the morning, like after 8am. That did work as I never heard him again during my week stay. I would advise people to contact the front desk if they have an issue, as management cannot fix a problem if they are not aware of it! (none of us has a crystal ball). As to my complaints, the lack of automatic ice maker or even ice trays in the refrigerator, and the curtains in the bedroom did not close completely (dollar store had trays and heavy duty tape, so fixed that). I also rotated and turned the mattress the second day, it was slightly sloping (but I was glad to see that it was scheduled to be done in April). The first time I heard the peacocks squawk it startled me, but they were beautiful and totally harmless! A suggestion - management should get rid of the wall dispenser of shampoo and liquid soap on the shower wall, (with no conditioner). I would expect that in one of the budget motel rooms, not a condo/townhouse style resort. I loved the location of Oak Plantation, tucked away in the woods, just blocks away shopping and restaurants.
Nothing like the pictures I've seen on the resorts sites. Check in was great- Luc is amazing and very helpful! Walked into our villa to see the floors have not been swept, vacuumed or mopped between stays. Dust and dirt on tables. Dishes did not appear very clean. Go up to our room to find a nail clipping- not hidden but in plain sight on the floor next to bed. Okay fine, it's late so I throw it out. Pull out extra blanket in closet and it was filthy- threw it right in the wash. Fast forward to the next morning and I find more nail clippings on the steps, hair on the towels (that we had not even touched) ran to Walmart for laundry detergent to clean every sheet, blanket and towel in the house. Request somebody come in and vacuum (I paid for housekeeping) 3 hrs later and still filthy, call again as we're heading out for another 4hours telling them we were leaving and would like somebody to come do the floors. Return and still filthy. Dryer doesn't work so sitting here waiting for my sheets/blankets to dry (from 9am). Called for a 3rd time and was told somebody would be here at 7am to clean up. Never again. Was planning on booking for my 11day trip over the summer but will never come here again!!! As soon as I walk in the door I'm instantly itchy just thinking about the nastiness i found in less than 12hours!!
Oak Plantation was a perfect place to stay. They have friendly staff, beautiful heated pool, a non-heated pool and a jaccuzzi with a tiki hut for drinks and food. The rooms were clean and had a full kitchen. Like having a small condominium. Loved it.
