Orlando Continental Plaza Hotel

Disgusting facilities. As soon as we walked in the room had moldy/rotten odor. The carpet was sticky and moist. There were hairs in the beds. The faucet in the bathtub was cracked so bad that it sprayed water everywhere, and the shower head barely sprayed. Even for a quick one night stay where we weren’t in the room for most of the night, it wasn’t worth the ick factor. $50 a night sounds great but go ahead and go a tier up here.
I will begin with this. The location is very close to Universal. My husband found a cheap hotel online. Once we arrived I knew that the real adventure would be the hotel room rather than going to Universal. The place from the outside just looks sketchy. We had no crime or no issues with that at all though. We were on the 4th floor and the elevator floor was sinking in near the door. Walking up to the room, we passed several rooms along the way and the curtains were torn and dirty. Then we opened the door to our room. Standard 2 full beds and a bathroom. The floor was carpeted and it felt sticky. Stains everywhere. There were stains all over the chair. It resembles bodily fluid and since there are multiple bodily fluids, you can all take a guess at which one and probably all be right. The mattress had indents in middle of them so my husband and I were lovingly rolled into each other into the middle of the bed. If you are concerned over location over price, don’t mind holes in carpet and bed comforters, nasty chairs, sinks where the knobs fall off, dirty floors, and sketchy surroundings then this is the place for you.
Began to panic about here aftee reading reviews on this. But really enjoyed our stay here and we never seen any bugs during our 2 week stay. Staff friendly. Cheap breakfast with a very nice lady serving. Great location with very comfy beds.
The price of this hotel was very reasonable probably why I booked in the first place. The location is great for all the amenities but tucked out the way for some quiet. A great place to explore Orlando from. The pool area was fine nothing fancy but reasonably clean only used it once as weather was poor but it was perfectly serviceable. The onsite Cafe/ Breakfast place was just horrific it was all frozen reheated food and awful coffee but pretty cheap I suppose. The room I was in was clean and spacious, just very tired and dated a coat of paint and new bed linen would go along way to freshen it up.Yes the hotel was tired in places and in need of some minor repairs, did this effect my stay? Not at allWould I stay again? Yes, purely in price and location it served me well
Whilst the location for the Universal resorts is ideal, being no more than a 5-10 minute drive away [in flowing traffic], there are aspects of the hotel which let it down:● checking in was a slow process. It took an age to find our booking forms, process the paperwork, allocate the rooms/keys etc. All in all, from walking into reception to walking into our rooms took about 25 minutes.● on their site they state that they operates a shuttle bus service to Universal (great!), it doesn't tell you that this only operates once a day at 1130 (not great!). So if you check in any time after that, you'll have to either drive yourself or get an Uber as we did.● WiFi is free (fab!), but only in reception (somewhat less than fab!). Step outside the reception area and good signal is lost pretty quickly, and is non-existent on the upper levels.● rooms are best described as 'you get what you pay for and they serve a purpose'. They're vaguely habitable and basic; the beds were clean and comfortable, the electricity sockets worked. The fixtures and fittings aren't in the best of repair, so if limescale on the taps, cracks in the plastic, rusty safes, weird smells and discolouration of the carpet puts you off staying somewhere, you might be best looking at another establishment.● despite us having proof on our booking that we were due a $10 breakfast credit, we were refused because they didn't have they appropriate paperwork. It took 10 minutes of arguing our case to finally be provided with out vouchers. During this time the receptionist, Myrtlina (who was the same slow receptionist booking us in), showed no interest in resolving with us. I asked if there was a manager on duty, I was told no. I asked if I could have a phone number for a senior member of staff, I was told no and was given a mumbled email address.● breakfast, when we finally received it was acceptable. You get a lot of choice and quantity for your $10, I'd personally recommend the turkey sausage and egg croissant. Leave the muffins alone, they're drier than an Arabian flip flop.
