Orlando Continental Plaza Hotel
- What's Included
Hotel room had roaches, issues with the plumbing, stains on the sheets, no bulbs in the lamps, even though no Wi-Fi Wi-Fi still showed available and my computers got hacked. Lastly my deposits were not refunded
I stayed in 2 rooms during my 2 week stay. The first room was pretty disgusting, mouldy and had a water stain on the ceiling. The first night someone was trying to get into my room after midnight and then I found out the telephone wasnt connected. The next day I asked to move rooms which they sorted without any problem. The 2nd room I had was better. It was clean and although everything was sticky, it was ok. The shower was pretty poor though. The pool was nice but it is advertised as heated which it is not. Lots of loungers and chairs though and there was always one free. It is open until very late which does get very noisy. There is a limited selection of breakfast fare served until 10:30. The food was very nice, just very small portions. Reasonable priced. The lady serving was lovely and very friendly and welcoming.Annoying things about this hotel: There is no wifi in rooms, just the public areas and so loads of guests congregate in the lobby area. Most talking different languages on video chats which can get really noisy. There are also limited plug socks so everyone is trying to get those seats (they are near massage chairs which are uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time). It would be better if they opened the breakfast room all day for guest to use for the internet. Good thing about this hotel: It is an easy 15 minute walk to universal studios or a bus stop is a 3-4 minute walk away. Also the staff in the main areas were all nice and friendly. Basically, good if you're looking for something cheap and cheerful.
The staff was nice, but the place needs a lot of repairs. The carpet was nasty. Didn't seem clean. And had holes. It seemed run down. The pool looked nice. But didn't get to go in. The mattresses looked old and need to be replaced. We actually had another problem there and had to get another hotel. So we didn't stay there.
A comfortable bed to sleep in after a long day at the parks. Stayed for a week and found this hotel in a perfect location for Universal without Universal hotel prices. The hotel is a 10 - 15 minute walk from Universal and although comfortable and very spacious I did find the room very dated. This did not take away from the fact that the bed was reallllllyyyyy comfortable. Free wifi was available in public spaces, BONUS. Nice sized pool and pool side.
The hotel is very old and cheap looking. If you are expecting a luxury resort, this is not the place.I stayed here for 7 days while on vacation. Was this the cleanest hotel? Not really. I wasn't impressed by the carpet in my room and kept my socks on all the time. I did not see bugs or have bites on me at any point. Housekeeping came in everyday and changed the sheets, made sure I had towels etc...Tv service was below basic- mainly local channels and 1 showtime channel. At check-in I was asked if I wanted a room away from the pool because it gets noisey. I was placed on the 3rd floor.Overall impression is that the staff is spending more time running around fixing immediate problems and have no time / resources to do proactive upgrading. My sink clogged the first night I was there, I let the front desk know and it was fixed by the time I got back that evening. Every morning I saw housekeeping, maintenance, janitors, pool guy checking and cleaning the pool. The location is great, walking distance to Universal and many restraunts. Walgreens right across the street and is open 24 hrs. Short walk to the I-Trolley. I never once felt unsafe being all by myself.I probably wouldn't stay here if I had young children. Seems more suited for singles, couples who are less concerned with apperances and astringent cleanliness. I really didn't spend that much time in my room, I was there to see the attractions.I would consider staying again when I return.
