Family Fun, Crowded and Getting a little dated (pool service has gone down)

I love this property. We have stayed here for the last ten years in a row and have always loved it. However, despite the amazing service, upgrade and decent food, I am moving my rating down from 5 stars to 4.Check-in is getting better and better! As a Platinum Elite, they have all 3 rooms ready and called me (before we arrived) to make sure that I was aware that they were ready for my family and that our rooms were ready. I also inquired for an upgrade to a suite( a luxury that we had the previous year that was awesome) and she said that she would do her best! Well, she rocked it and got us a suite with a Sun Deck! There are only like 4 on the whole property!) Marriott is killing it in this department...and the phone Key feature...use your phone as your room key is my new standard as a frequent traveler. The room was a 1 bedroom suite with a little kitchen and a pull out couch (that was well used by us)...but it had access to the massive sun deck...(see picture)...Way too cool! We loved it and watched many of the laser shows and Disney fire works from there...Good things - The new Food Court (on the 1st floor) has been redone and is perfect for the complex. Well done Marriott.The bus service to the Properties ROCKS! Highly recommend. Use it, you are paying for it anyway! Just check in with the Concierge and you have a ride close to the front gates...Saves the drama of driving and parking...and then shuttling...The laser show and the activities around the pool are awesome and fun! Keep it up!Bad Things - Pool service was bad this year. We barely got decent service and they kept going off shift and asking us to check out. We had 20 people in our group...we tip well and eat and drink a lot. I mean a lot. We usually average OVER a $1k next to the pool on our trips. Marriott - You need to fix this. You lost money this year because pool side service was so poor.Beds - The quality of the beds in our suite were not the usual high quality that we expect from a full branded Marriott complex. Pool chairs (main complex) are finite. It is very hard to find chairs if you arrive after noon on a crowded weekend. I would like to see Marriott police this better and clean the chairs / check for movement so that later arriving families can find places quicker and without drama... This would enhance the pool side service.Also, the menu for the Pool side is minimal and we would like to see some cheaper eats for snacks. The Pool menu IS expensive which is ok as long as there are a couple of Loss Leaders... ;)Also, the Car situation...Marriott, this has to be addressed...There is always a wait and does not flow well...This is one of the things that all of our guests complained about is how we pay for the valet service, yet, our time does not seem to be respected and the timing takes to long. Same thing, Marriott lost money because of this traffic jam situation that you charge nearly $30 a day for. Not a good impression. (Either raise the rate and add staff or drop the rate and set proper expectations.)Don't get me wrong, I love this property, it is one of our family favorites, but we want it to continue to be our favorite in this area. Keep up the good work Marriott! ;)

Professional service above and beyond!

First of all, we came over to Orlando for Easter to be able to see our daughter on that day.The front desk "Elite" line was so accommodating and made the check in so easy. The resort was clean and the rooms had great views of the pool area. The pool area was crowded (Easter weekend) so we went down and got chairs first thing in the morning. After 2 or so hours we left our stuff on the chair and went to grab breakfast. We came back after that to find that a man and women moved our things and took the chairs! We asked nicely for them to move and they both told us no. We continued to ask the to give back the chairs to no avail. I went to the pool area manager (Colin) who told us that they shouldn't have moved our things... In stead of Colin telling them to move he went above and beyond to help my family. Colin asked me if it would be ok to "UPGRADE" us to a cabana for free. I said yes and he asked my family to follow him to a new location at the pool. WOW, what a great time we had that day and it was all due to Colin defusing a situation. THANK YOU, Colin for the hard work and for saving the day for my family. Chris D

Somewhat dissapointing

Initially booked for a weekend of R&R I quickly discovered that this is not a quiet resort! Filled with families the main pool area was loud and crowded. Only after speaking with another visitor the more quiet west pool (and hot tub) was uncovered. Buffet breakfast good value and selection. The concierge staff very helpful. The taxi situation leaves a lot to be desired. Mears transportation seems to own the relationship. The airport shuttle service was great however the black cars from the hotel overcharge terribly. There seemed to be a disconnect between the doormen and cabbies. The wait was incredibly annoying and one person didn't know what the other was doing. The room was acceptable although the view was one overlooking the roof. The restaurant selection was good and the pantry contained a wide variety of foods. Most of the staff I encountered were friendly and greeted me with a 'good morning'. Probably would not return to this particular resort even though I am a Marriott member.

Our stay at Orlando World Center Marriott

We really enjoyed the pool area. The Hotel and room were definitely not the cleanest. The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The prices at the restaurants and pool were completely outrageous. I don't see how a family can go to your hotel and enjoy themselves when the prices are so completely out of hand. We go to Florida twice a year and we will be finding somewhere else that is more affordable.

Platinum Member Review on Family Vacation

Very fun resort!As a Platinum Member, I travel a lot and I try to only stay at Marriott's if able. I have been to Orlando a bunch but never stayed at this property. My family and I were very happy about the stay and all of the very cool amenities.It was not only a great hotel for kids - 4 waterslides & huge pool with a great light show daily; and TVs all around the waterfall area of the pool (super for watching NBA playoffs). The small kids area had a slide and was fantastic for our 3 YOLD. The kids area was also surrounded by a lego play area - and was away from the adult area which I think is good for both adults with and without kids.The rooms were very clean.The resturants were all above average and the facility is huge.The staff was very good - all were very helpful for not only me but my entire family on multiple occasions.I highly recommend this property even over the Vacation Villas in Orlando... just had so much to offer.Thanks for great stay! We will be back for sure...
