Residence Inn Orlando at SeaWorld
- What's Included
My family and I have stayed in this hotel 3 times and always loved it! They have everything to make you feel at home. Perfect sized rooms for a family with small kids, with fully equipped kitchen and good sized bathroom. The wifi is always working, There's a pool, laundry room, a basketball court and enough space for kids to run around. It would be perfect if they also had a playground.
We selected this property as part of our Seaworld Holiday Package. Overall this was a good choice. The staff was adept at handling large amounts of tourists. Our room for four adults and two small children was a two bedroom and worked out perfect. The hotel was part of the Seaworld Official Hotel group and the transportation worked great. Our focus was 100% Seaworld and Aquatic for five days. The hotel has a Seaworld Help desk in the lobby for transportation reservations and the staff would pleasantly answer our dumb tourist questions. The Room: As stated the two bedroom suite. We really only spent the late evenings and slept and showered in the room. The size was okay for 4 adults/ 2 children as long we weren't in the room that much. Overall the rooms are clean and maintained but the high amount of tourist traffic lends to much wear and tear. We were on the six floor so the noise level from the area was not an issue. The wifi was great clocking at 50+ mps. The room kitchen was adequate and we never cooked anything but appreciated the plate, flatware, water pot, and full size fridge for dining in and leftovers. We did have ants in one bathroom but a call to the housekeeping had a service man spray while we were out and no ants after that. (The insect problem was made worse by the slob guests who placed their half eaten food trash in the hallways. WTF?) My room had a trash bin that was emptied daily and there were large receptacles near the elevator. I guess some people are just lazy pigs. The Grounds: The pool was nice and had beach entry for small children. Be aware this is a high volume property in child friendly Orlando. It's noisy and active. Plenty of clean towels as long as guests didn't abuse the towel cabinet. The grounds were well kept and clean. The public areas of the hotel interior were not policed regularly. Otherwise we enjoyed the pool and bbq grills and loved the patio rocking chairs outside the dining area. The staff responded quickly to our complaint of loud youth on the basketball court after posted hours as the children in our room needed the sleep. The Food: The breakfast buffet was a challenge. The area gets quite busy in the breakfast time. The serving area is designed for maximum traffic flow in as orderly fashion as can be accomplished with a crowd of mostly stupid tourists. Really - have some of these guests never eaten in public before? The food quality was adequate - this was basic cooked breakfast large buffet food not fine dining. The coffee was great. There was something for everyone in our group from my fruit/yogurt only to my friends greasy meat pig out with donuts. The dining space is crowded and noisy. Most guests failed to buy into the idea of 'get your food, eat your food, clean up, and vacate your table'. I don't fault Residence for the breakfast madness, the staff was doing their best to serve and maintain the dining area against a tide of ignorance. There were certain times (mostly early and late) where the dining area was not as hectic. Because it's a theme park hotel there will always be plenty of cute loud kids and their tired parents, so you just deal with it. The pizza experience in the evening was terrible and we regretted this venture. Our order was not right the first go around and while they remade our pies the kiddies got cranky waiting (well so did I). The pizza was bland and uninspiring and not inexpensive. Overall I would recommend this property but only as part of the theme park experience. The crowd is loud kids, entitled adults, and hectic public areas. But the transport system and integration to Seaworld worked flawlessly for our group. The package price with the park tickets and large suites were a bargain option that I and my overseas visiting friends enjoyed. If you are looking for any experience other than theme park you may consider other options. What it is - is what it is - the property management handled the madness with grace and style, although Housekeeping could use a kick in the pants as their service was irregular.
My husband and I recently stayed here for 3 weeks. We requested an early check in when we booked, but we still had to wait 3 hours. But, that was ok with us since they were working at getting us the room we requested (higher floor, away from elevator, with a pool view)... and we got exactly that! :) The room was very large and spacious with a spectacular view of the pool. We were very happy. PROS: Location is good in proximity to I-Drive. Pool was nice and a good temperature. Hotel overall is clean. Front desk staff were very nice. Free Breakfast in the morning. Kitchenette in every room with a full size fridge. CONS: The hotel is looking dated. The outside desperately needed to be pressure washed. Our room (although clean) had seen better days. Stains on the curtains, wallpaper peeling in the bathroom from water damage, rust around the tub, stains on the carpets, the hot tub outside was missing tiles etc. We found ants crawling on our kitchen counter the first couple of days (I'm guessing the people before us were slobs and it attracted ants). We were careful to keep our food stored properly and didn't have any other ants after that. WIFI was horrible for the first week of our stay. My husband works in IT and after several calls to the hotel's IT provider, we finally got a reasonable wifi signal for the last 2 weeks of our stay. We were a little disappointed with Housekeeping. My husband and I keep our room clean. We buy our own stuff (hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, etc) so we really don't need housekeeping. Towels we washed with our own laundry. We did call and request housekeeping once during our 3 week stay - I left a note and a $5 bill for housekeeping to say thank you. We were told bedding would be changed twice a week when we checked in. So I was a little upset when we got back to the room that evening to find the bed had not been changed and the room had not been vaccum'd. All she did was make the bed and gave us fresh towels... but she took the $5. We had 2 beds in the room, so we took the sheets off the other bed midway through our stay. I didn't want to complain because I knew I'd have to face housekeeping everyday for the rest of my stay. Plus, it was kind of a minor thing, but I was just bothered she took my money and didn't do what I had requested. We did read several comments leading up to our stay about cars getting broken into at this location. This was concerning to us. The last thing someone wants to deal with on vacation is a car claim (especially on a rental car). So we were very aware to park our car close to the building or under a light, and to never leave anything in the car.... We've stayed at atleast 10 different resorts/hotels in Orlando over the years and this is the first hotel we've come across where car theft was an issue (and the first time we've seen a sign on property that says the hotel is not responsible for car break-ins). I sincerely hope the hotel can figure out who's doing this and get the problem fixed. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would stay here again (as long as we can get a similar rate, and the car break-ins don't become a regular occurrence here on trip advisor reviews).
We stayed here for one night because we wanted to go to SeWorld. We came from a different hotel and checked in here first thing in the morning. They actually had a room available and let us get settled in a room despite it being 9:30am. We bought our tickets at the seaworld desk and got the benefits from staying in the hotel. The breakfast the next day was good- well stocked and organized. The pool was big with few people in it. My only complaint is that the room had a mildewy smell.
We were very please with this hotel. The rooms are quite spacious and well kept. The lobby is open and the eating area is quite large. We enjoyed the complementary breakfast, the items were good quality although it was quite crowded. The pool area was clean and the location is outstanding. The elevators have an odd location at the end of the building on both sides. You have to walk the length of one side of the hotel to get to them, not a big deal, just a bit strange. We would definitely return.
