- What's Included
Stayed for one week, the hotel has a very average feel too it, but it is acceptable, as budget accommodation. The buffet is very hit and miss, the hot food was warm, and worryingly the cold food was warm too, the guy serving drinks to the table was acting like he was waiting for home time, did not answer a simple question, are drinks included in the buffet price!!, bought me a coffee and there was his tip sorted (added to bill automatically), no offer of a refill, no visit to ask if the meal was ok, but he did bring my bill, unrequested, get shot of us, and another tip is on the way. He was not alone as a poor example of service, on checking in, after the lady staff had finished their long conversation, I had to sign a tablet screen, the lady on reading my signature burst into loud laughter, showed it to a colleague and asked me who the heck wrote that??, I'm dyslexic, and was mighty offended.Would never stay here again.
We originally stayed in this hotel almost 10 years ago, on our first trip to Orlando and based on its location (20 minutes' walk to/from the Universal Parks and situated on International Drive) decided it would make a great base for our 10 night stay in 2017. And we weren't disappointed! This hotel is ideal if you're looking for a good base located within reasonable walking distance of the Universal parks and the restaurants, bars, shops etc. on International Drive. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who was chatty and helpful, explaining the deals available in the onsite restaurants, pool opening times and what to do if there were any problems with our room. Our room was lovely, with two double beds; flatscreen TV; decent sized wardrobe; two chest of drawers; bedside cabinet with safe; a desk and two office chairs; mini fridge and standard microwave. The beds were really comfortable, the room was clean and tidy, and the bathroom well maintained and clean too.During our stay we ate at the Palm Tree Restaurant for breakfast on two occasions. The selection of food was good with a standard hot food selection (bacon, pancakes, eggs, etc.) as well as a Continental breakfast selection, tea and coffee (orange juice was extra) and cereal. You could also make your own waffles. Once again the staff were polite and friendly, as well as quick to serve us once we'd sat down.We didn't use the pool facilities during our stay, but it looked to be a good size and seemed to be popular with guests. Finally, the car park was onsite and secure, with a manned security hut and barrier (we were provided with a car park pass on arrival). The only reason this misses out on a 5/5 rating is the condition of the hallways outside the rooms. I believe the hotel has undergone (and perhaps is still undergoing) renovation and refurbishment works. As a result, the corridor on our floor looked quite shabby and the lighting was very dim too which was a little off-putting, especially in the evenings when it felt particularly uninviting.Overall this is a lovely hotel in a great location and, if they manage to refurbish the hallways to the same standard as the rooms, would definitely be worthy of a 5/5 rating. Highly recommended if you're looking for somewhere conveniently located with a good level of amenities and comfy beds.Stayed late September/early October 2017.
Great hotel, cheap enough for a room. Nice staff, decent clean rooms, nice pool area! All in all a very good hotel. Would highly recommend to anyway! It's in a great location as well ! We will definitely look to stay here again. We stayed in the rosen at pointe earlier in the year and that did not disappoint either!
First time I`ve written a review. Arrived home yesterday after 2 weeks in the Rosen. There was 6 of us so we had two rooms both of which were acceptable. You might say the hotel "is what it is" Its a basic, budget hotel that fulfills the needs that you have for a stay in Orlando, which lets be honest, you spend very little time in your room. On site shop was decent and we ate food from there on a couple of occasions and it was okay, not restaraunt quality but okay none the less. Shop was`nt overly expensive as some hotel shops are. On site dining room for breakfast was okay but if I`m being honest, the Ponderosa over the road is better for the same price. Location is perfect and for $18 you can buy a 2 week itrolley ticket, and the bus stop is right outside the hotel. The pool was fine, and towels are provided (though they have seen better days)We had reason to phone reception 3 times and on each occasion our query was dealt with immediatley with no fuss.My only real negative was when we asked reception to phone us a 6 seater taxi. We were expecting a Mears cab, but a private car turned up and subsequently charged us $30 to get to Discovery Cove, which should have only been $15 at most. We fell for it the second day again and were charged $90 for a return journey to Magic Kingdom. On other days, in a Mears 6 seater, it cost no more than $35 each way. The "taxi driver" actually worked on the ticket desk in the hotel, so I assume they have an arrangement to point work their way. We never fell for it a third time, which was a shame and had it not been for them ripping us of, we would have given them a lot more work.So yes, I would stay again, but I would definitley not be asking reception to phone me a taxi.
This is not a bad hotel staff friendly, altho one staff member I wish I'd got her name she worked in the shop, we asked about getting a hot dog as someone had ordered hot dogs and they looked lovely but when we asked about getting 2hotdogs she was like that means I will have to put 2more on like it was too much of a problem to do so we told her not to bother she was actually quite rude! So we never bothered to order from the shop after that, dining room staff were lovely especially the young guy luis I think his name was he just couldn't do enough for you,the rooms were clean altho we were on bottom floor overlooking the pool we were disappointed that the patio doors weren't used as patio doors sounds silly but they were sealed up and it would have been nice to sit out in the mornings or evening but hey it didn't spoil our stay, there's washing facilities on 3floors but very difficult to actually get washing done as only one washer and dryer on these floors nowhere near enough, think the aircon needs updating as it smelt like stagnant water especially at night...
