Rosen Inn International
- What's Included
Having stayed here before I thought I knew what to expect but unfortunately the Rosen Inn has gone down hill since we last stayed here in 2013. We always thought it was basic but clean and well situated - it being right in the middle of International Drive so well placed for restaurants, bars, Universal and Sea world. However, standards seem to have dropped. The beds were always made every day and towels replaced or tided. However, I feel that's all that was ever really done. I placed a small piece of paper (small enough to be vacuumed) on the floor at the start of our 2 week trip and there it stayed. We had a lot of problems with lack of hot water. We reported it to reception who said it would be fixed, which it seemed to be for a short while, but for most of our stay we had to run the hot tap for 15-20 mins before luke-warm water came out. The worst of our stay was our room. I had emailed prior to our arrival requesting a room away from the road and situated where people wouldn't have to continuously walk past. What did we get - a room right by the road - so we heard traffic all night - which was right at the front of the second hotel entrance - which meant people were walking past our room all day and night. This meant we were constantly disturbed throughout the night and early morning - we literally had no sleep for 2 weeks. We tried to move rooms but the hotel was fully booked. Hotels should not have rooms placed like this - unless they want to offer it to travellers who are happy to pay a reduced rate for the disruption. The hotel provides paid transportation to the Disney parks however, the times arent great. The last one leaves at 11.30am which means if you wanted to go late in the day so you could stay for the fireworks, you would have to spend the entire day there. The last one also leaves Epcot at 9.45pm which means if you want to stay at any parks to see the fireworks at 9pm, its touch and go whether you catch it (unless you catch the last one from Magic Kingdom, but that's really late at 11.30pm). I'm sorry to say this will be my fourth and last visit to the Rosen Inn, which is a shame.
Having read several reviews before we went, I was a bit concerned about the bug problems that people in ground floor rooms had mentioned. So I emailed the hotel and asked that we have an upper level room and not overlooking the car park or main road so that it would be quieter. I got an email back from the hotel within 24 hours stating that although it couldn't be guaranteed, they would do their best to accommodate my request. Well when we turned up our room was on the fifth floor and overlooking the pool, couldn't have been happier. The general look of the hotel overall is nice and certainly clean. The hotel staff couldn't be more helpful and are extremely friendly and polite. Our room, although not overly big, was big enough for our 16 night stay with four of us in one room. Although the decor is slightly dated in the rooms, they were impeccably clean. Every day our maid came in and replaced all the towels and made the beds and cleaned the bathroom early in the morning. There was also a fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the kichenette/sink area. And an in room safe. There is free wifi throughout the hotel with really good reception, or you can use the hotel computers for free. The pool area although not huge was clean and busy from early in the morning until 9/10 at night, but not noisy. There are free towels provided round the pool. The food in the restaurant whether breakfast or dinner was a buffet and we couldn't fault the food. Breakfast was delicious with a huge range of foods from toast and cereals, fruits and yogurt, waffles and pancakes to a full fry up. Dinner always had a roast joint, generally beef which was never tough, to different chicken and fish dishes with veg, rice, pasta, salad and dessert. 9 and under we're free and up to 12 we're half price, whilst the adult price was also reasonable. There is a free bus shuttle to Universal which was free and reliable, but you must remember to book your bus times with reception the day before. The shuttle service to Aquatica and Seaworld, not so good, you have to get the shuttle to Universal and then a connection on, both times we did this the bus driver took too long waiting at another stop that we missed the connection and had to get a taxi. So instead I would recommend the I Trolley which stops right outside the hotel, or an Uber. There is no shuttle service to Disney so we hired a car for a week, the hotel doesn't charge a parking fee, but the last week we used Uber's to get there and found it cheaper than the car, between $13 and $16 each way. The hotel is located right by the I4 on International Drive, perfect location for getting anywhere. It's within walking distance of lots of restaurants and shops and a Walgreens. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and we would certainly stay here again when we return in a few years time.
I stayed here with my boyfriend last September and it was such a great stay at such a cheap price. The hotel and rooms were clean, the reception staff and the staff who booked the transport were all very helpful and the breakfast was lovely. I requested a pool view room a couple of weeks before which isn't guaranteed but we did get a pool view room. There are taxi's constantly outside and the the bus system to Universal is always on time. However, I would recommend booking these in plenty of time as the earlier spots were usually booked up if left till late the day before. Honestly could not fault this place, brilliant stay for a first time stay from UK to USA. Would highly recommend.
This place is very reasonably priced and you can't really beat the location so much to do within walking distance and a walgreens just across the street. It's surrounded by wonderful restaurants (and a McDonald's). After staying in the International Palms (just down the street) for a couple nights in October (this place was booked) you really appreciate how nice this hotel really is. Price and location I'd recommend this hotel everytime. I'm coming back in June too =)
Very nice place, clean. Rooms are pretty good size and very clean. Amador at the bar was excellent, very friendly and quick. Free Shuttle to Universal was a plus. Breakfast at hotel was okay, but I wish the staff was a bit faster. Sat for awhile before I even got first cup of coffee and was never offered a second. Stood in line waiting to pay, got fed up and just left cash. But there is a Denny's and McDonalds walking distance for next time. Will stay here again. Highly recommend.
