Sheraton Vistana Resort
- What's Included
Very lovely condo with exceptionally friendly staff. We were lucky to get a place near the pool which helped tremendously. Only recommendation would be to get more food choices onsite. We would return.
Five members of our family went to Sheraton Vistana for three nights primarily to take our grand daughter to the Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios. We rented a two bedroom villa. I am an owner but elected to pay for the villa instead of using points. As always our villa was spotless and very comfortable. Vistana is normally a high quality place to stay and that is why we bought a timeshare several years ago. The staff rose to a special need when the flight for our daughter's family was cancelled and they were forced to stay an extra day. The Vistana staff were very accommodating in finding a one bedroom villa on site for the extra night. I can't say enough about this place. We love to stay there for the excellence of the villas and helpfullness of the staff.
Let's start with the positives first: Upon arrival and at the check in desk we met Angela B. who was very pleasant and very help, she worked to check us in a room on the first floor because of my knee ailments. The two bedroom suite was very nice and clean with a very functional kitchen and large dining table where my family and I enjoyed dinner that where we used the outside grill and kitchen. We also had the opportunity to use the pool and Jacuzzi area at the main pool on at least three occasions. We also had fun using the putt-putt golf facility. Now the bad: We did not enjoy the pressure of the property selling pitch although it did last for 1.5hrs. Every trick in the book was used to get us to purchase property, very frustrating after saying no over and over again. They did finally give us four $20 vouchers to be used on the property, totally not worth my wife and my time. We'll definitely like to stay here again but not another presentation.
My wife and I booked a few months back for a 6 night stay and would go back again. The good:This a family oriented timeshare resort that does cater to travelers who want a mix of the "Disney" experience along with resort living. Check-in was relatively quick and easy. We were fortunate to get a chatty associate that helped us get checked in and over to the "sales zone" in a pretty efficient manner. Our room was exactly as advertised. Large bedroom, full kitchen, large bathroom, dining, and sitting area. The washer and dryer are a huge bonus for those of us that like to pack light and wash my clothes while I'm away. The pools (8 or 9 of them) are great. Some close in the 9:00 range and other are open until 1:00 in the morning. Plenty of towels around and for the most part they keep the pool area as non-smoking.We opted for the "no housekeeping" in favor of free breakfast at Zimmies just across from our room and were able to call down for towels twice during our stay. The towels came quickly and were always more than we needed. We spent time at Castaways Bar and Grill next to the main pool for drinks and some light meals. Nicole is an amazing bartender who is quick with conversation and equally quick to take care of multiple people at once. She is friendly and high spirited. I highly recommend the fish tacos on the menu. The bad:We had mold in our shower, around the fixtures, along with a moldy shower curtain. It was there when we arrived which tells me that housekeeping is an area in need of improvement. The Ugly:This is a timeshare property and they do everything that they can to get you into their sales presentation. (We were offered $100.00 in resort credit) My wife and I have plans to purchase a second home in the next few years and though this might be a nice bridge between now and then. Our sales rep (Vicki) was very good and answered every question that we had. She was quick to tell us why the value was there and how it could benefit us over time. The one piece that was unsettling to me was how much emphasis was put on buying right now. I'm not one to spend $13,000 or more on something that I get to use roughly one week a year in a 60 minute conversation. We were willing to discuss it further and then get back in touch. The "if you don't buy today, you will lose this" speech didn't do anything for me. The "perks" were not going to be enough to get my money without some thought. The pricing of the packages was much more affordable than I had anticipated and makes great financial sense for us. I had anticipated the overall pricing to be far more than what it really is.After a tour of a 2 bedroom unit, we were passed off to a "Marketing representative" and this is where my experience shifted from good to ugly. Wendy was, at the very least, condescending in the way she spoke to us about what we would get by "signing up today" and only spending $99.00 out of our pocket to get the deal going. Her attitude was one of "I don't get it why you're not doing this? It's a great deal and you should just say yes" After 2 sessions of scribbling numbers on a sheet of paper and doing a decent job of misdirection, I simply stated that I wasn't interested today and if the resort wasn't willing to take my money in 7 days when I called back, I wasn't losing anything. Wendy passed us off to the ticket sales people and we went on our way. Owning a timeshare isn't something we are against, however, having my intelligence insulted is something that I will always be against.Vicki took an "incident report" about the mold and it was still there when we checked out. I won't hold that against here, but, where did that report go and why were we never contacted by the front desk to talk about it?Overall, we had a great stay at this resort and would not hesitate to go back. We certainly wouldn't sit in on the sales presentation, regardless of what we were offered. The grounds are cleaned daily and there is constant gardening going on to keep everything looking nice. The bottom line of any trip is whether or not you had a good time. I can say that we had a great time!
We are currently staying at Sheraton vistana 2 bedroom villa. We are quite happy with the quality of the room and the facilities . Though the view is very non descriptive it's immaterial given we have long days outside the resort. The facilities of the resort are good and many to choose from. Except the story is not all good...We are a family of 6 visiting from outside the United States and we chose not to have our own vehicular transport around orlando. While driving around the city and to the amusement parks has been pretty easy on uber, it's not been easy to get the " courtesy vehicle pick up" that the resort proudly presents as a service from our room to the reception or to any other point in the resort. The promises for a pick up have moved from 5 min to 10,20 and today the supervisor has coldly told me that it takes 30 min for a guaranteed pick up from our room ! They seemed overbooked for the holiday season, but that doesn't change the fact that we are customers too with some expectations of service levels. Very cold and non cooperative as a system to guests who don't have their own transport. Our phone lines are down thanks to a storm and hence it's impossible to get a pick up today or tomorrow till they come up. So all in all a good resort, but don't visit in July and not if you don't have your own transport!
