Sheraton Vistana Resort
- What's Included
So this is my first time at Sheraton Vistana resort and will probably be my last. It was ok. Here is a quick overview. Resort is compiled into different neighborhoods(some better than others) most or maybe all neighborhoods have rooms that have elevators to get too and rooms that go 3-4 stories and just have steps(mine). If you have little ones, this is very inconvenient. The 2 bedroom suites are nice! The view you get is a pick of the draw. I had a palm tree blocking my view but it was ok considering there was s room directly across that would have been able to see right on my balcony. Most rooms and balconies have no privacy! Overall room a plus minus the stairs and the balcony/view no good! The resort is very loud as the walls are very thin(it sounds like your neighbor is right next to you) also busses and trucks come by at all hours of the night and are very loud. You need a car to get around this resort! There are a lot of pools! Hopefully your room is close to one. Overall is ok but I'll go back to the I drive villages location down the road. It's smaller but way better!
This hotel was just ok. The rooms were nice enough but the pool area and restaurants left a lot to be desired. In addition, our room was very close to the main road or highway. It was loud and didn't feel safe at night. It was close enough to drive or Uber to parks and a decent value.
We just arrived today and I'm so disappointed. The check in line was 27 mins long. She told us she needed to check if our room was ready, it was 430 pm, check in time was 3 pm. She was trying to call someone and was in the phone for a while until she gave us our keys. Our villa is very dirty. The floors have not been swept or washed properly in years. There was several long hairs all over the bathroom. The countertops are coated with dust and gunk. I never expected this. We also had to call maintainence because the door wouldn't close to our unit and I told them our room was not clean and he never offered anything. We are here for a week and I will not be taking my shoes off. The only thing clean is the sheets. Coming from a Sheraton, this is s huge expensive disappointment.
This time we stayed in The Falls area, our condo was great , clean, up to date, very quiet, wonderful back porch and not to far a walk to the pool. We have stayed here about 5 times over the years and we have always felt it was a very good value. I love the location for Disney, not so great for Universal.
We were a Canadian family of 5 with 2 kids (4&6) and Grandma. Used a combination of RCI points and a Costco vacation package for our 11 day stay over Spring Break.Location, location, location:This is a large complex sprawling over a number of city blocks. We lucked out with our unit as:- it was in a newer building (we were in the fountains section - building 41)- ground floor ( no stairs)- close to pool but not backing on to pool (so no pool noise but 1 min walk)- our closest pool closed at 10 pm not 1 am- we were close to bbq and playground- Backed on to a lagoon/fountain, which provided white noise in the eveningOverall we loved it. We spent 6 days at "the parks" and 5 days just spending most of our time at the pool. Very relaxing. However ran into other families having a less then great time at playground as they were in a 3rd floor unit that backed onto pool with Tiki bar that closed at 1 am. Lots of stairs and lots of pool noise. Another family we ran into explained they were far enough away from pool that they had to drive from their unit to a pool with their kids under 3. No fun. As for other stuff, the good: - our 2 bedroom with 2 dbl beds plus king unit was great for the 5 of us. Loads of space. Lots of towels and bedding.- location of the property as compared to Seaworld, Disney, major grocery stores, shopping etc was great.- called a month before our trip start date and got them to link the two reservations. No issues. Also requested a ground floor unit in a newer building. Again this was given. Did mention at check-in they are usually 93-95% booked even in slow season and near 100% during spring break, so good I called ahead. - pools and pool bathrooms very clean and their were always enough pool towels and chairs. - the lower buildings and large size make it much more "resort like". Never felt cramped or stuck in hotel. Not so great- check in was met with very very long lines. 1 1/2 hour wait when we arrived at about 1:30. When we got to a clerk, room not ready until 4 (which is their normal check in time, so fair enough"). Staff told me I didn't want to switch rooms as I "got a good one". We chose to get groceries rather than explore property, although understood we could have used the pool..- Thing that bothered me the most was the "air fresher" smell in check-in building. Over powering to the point of nausea. Like a gallon of Febreeze dumped in the room. - There was only a few tabs of dish soap and coffee provided. No salt and pepper, laundry soap or anything like it. I did expect something close to that so we brought a bag of ziplock bags for food storage plus laundry soap, but did still have to buy salt and pepper, foil and coffee filters. - Cleaning staff were hit and miss. One left bottle of cleaning solution on our bathroom floor, no clean towels or recycling bags another time. But quickly fixed. Overall, we loved it but be aware all units not equal.
