Sheraton Vistana Villages
- What's Included
Condo style accommodations and incredible SPG service! Multiple pools including one with an incredible pirate ship for kids. The main pool is expansive and has a spot for everyone. Constant activities for all age groups and other amenities set this property apart from others. Swastie at the front desk went above and beyond to help with check in. She was so patient as I asked a million questions! As a Platinum SPG member, I can tell you that she embodies the level of customer service I have become spoiled by with SPG!
We were being lied about the whole timeshare thing in the presentation, which the sales person and manager kept pressing us to buy and promise all kinds of things that never got delivered. They lied about all kinds of fees, which we found out later. The manager would promised anything for you to buy the timeshare such as they promised to give us 140,000 Starwood points that was never delivered and later on nobody answered phone calls and replied emails. They also lied about they can take back the timeshare, which they will never did and the timeshare worth less than a penny after you bought it. The reservation system is not functioning and hard to book anything and you will only get to book the resorts that nobody is interested in a few months ahead. Also, every year you need to pay thousands of fees. I want to make sure people don't get trapped into this anymore, we made a huge mistake and we don't want other people to get into this again. We called their customer services, and they said if you want to sue us, feel free to, they will not take back the timeshare and will not even try to solve any problems. Now we need to spend additional thousands to take them to sue them to get out of this, can't even get a penny back...Be careful folks!
Front desk employee Swastie provided exceptional customer service. She was attentive, thoughtful, cheerful and accommodating. I would come here again just because of her customer service. Thank you Swastie!
I will start by saying that I travel a lot. Both business and personal travel. I have been to 5 start resorts, all-inclusives, time shares and I have been back-packing all over Europe. This is to say, I've been in amazing hotels and some not so amazing hotels. I almost never type reviews but our stay at the Vistana Villages has actually prompted me to do so.Overall, the complex is very nice, well kept and almost everyone we interacted with was helpful and pleasant. There were a few instances where the hotel "policy" got in the way of this helpfulness, but I'll get to that later. Unfortunately, this has lessened our opinion of this property and honestly, most of it could be fixed pretty easily. As an SPG member, this isn't really the reputation I'm used to at a Sheraton property. As part of our reservation, we requested a room near the kid's pool area (with the pirate ship) as we were traveling with a 4yo. When we checked in (around 3pm), they were very accommodating and said that they had us set to be in a room near this pool but that it wasn't ready yet. So, they sent us to enjoy the pool while we waited (there's a changing room right near the pool). They wound up calling us within an hour telling us the room was ready. Our room was 101 in Building 26. A terribly situated room on the first floor facing the parking lot and a grilling area adjacent to the parking lot . We called to inquire about switching rooms and were told that it wasn't an option. We were near the pool we had requested and planned on visiting Disney all week so while this was frustrating, we just shrugged it off as we knew we wouldn't spend too much time in the room. The room itself was updated and well appointed with anything you'd want in an efficiency unit including a washer/dryer (although the freezer didn't actually freeze anything - as the water bottles we put there overnight were still water in the morning - and there didn't seem to be a way to make it any colder? Again, annoying but certainly not a deal breaker.) Not long after we got in the room, I checked the bedding (I have a TERRIBLE feather/down allergy) and then I promptly called to see if housekeeping could de-feather our room. This is a call I need to make in almost EVERY hotel I ever stay in. I was told by the person on the phone that they required 24 hours notice to do this (what??). So, I said to him, well that's nice - am I supposed to sleep in the hallway? I asked him to see about expediting this so I could actually sleep in the bed. Thankfully we had a nice woman from housekeeping come and de-feather our room within about an hour. What sort of nutty policy is this to tell a person with an allergy? Also, our safe in the room was locked - this required yet another call to someone to come into the room to unlock it so we could use it.On to our next issue: It's important to note that this is a timeshare. I've stayed in many and I know how aggressive they can be. We turned down our "welcome packet" when we checked in. They then woke us up with calls around 8:00-8:30am the next 3 mornings about coming in for our welcome packet. No means NO (plus, I have a 4 yo who's been up late visiting Mickey each night - I don't need your hotel staff waking him up every morning before he's ready).Mid vacation we take a break from Disney to enjoy the pool for the day. We purchased some cans of beer to bring to the pool area with us (hey, mommy & daddy are on vacation too!). We bought cans specifically because we understand pool rules. I should also mention that this pool area has a BAR. So, I'm sitting on the edge of the pool with my feet dangling in the water watching my son. The lifeguard comes over to me to tell me that I can't have my drink that close to the pool. I give him my most befuddled look, "it's a can?" I say. And he tells me that I might spill it so I can't have it anywhere near the pool. Yet another really odd policy. While they may not have one, have they never heard of swim up bars? I've been on more vacations than I can begin to count where I've been able to responsibly consume a cocktail, in the proper container, "near" the pool. And here's how vacation ended. Remember, when I said that our room was pretty much next to a grilling area? Well, on our last night after watching fireworks, we carry our son in and put him to sleep on the pullout sofa - just like every night - except this night we have an early morning flight home. Tonight, there's a large family in this grilling area - a LOUD group with young toddler aged children who are running around screaming. After we can't take it anymore (about 11:30pm) we call the hotel to ask them to please send over security. This kids in the group are insanely loud, yelling & screaming - who has children 3-5 years old awake at midnight is beyond me, but that's a whole other conversation! I want to be clear that I don't blame the hotel in any way for the ridiculousness that was waking up my 4yo.. HOWEVER, I do blame them for not correctly addressing it. After we request security, I watch out the window to see if anyone comes to talk to them - the noise never quiets down. It's now almost 12:30am (why are these kids still up??) and we call the hotel staff again and ask what they are doing about it and we are told they will send security to tell them to be quiet. Finally by close to 1am they all leave. How could it take the hotel almost an hour to fix this? And, if they did speak to them after the first call (which I didn't see), why didn't they stick around to monitor the situation for improvement? So, there you have it. All-in a nice place with nice people, with some really poor execution/policies. Not greatly representative of what I know Sheraton to be.
We have been coming for 13 years and love it every time. Beautiful grounds, lots of activities rights on the property, everything is walking distance along paths, waterfalls, and fountains, along with very friendly staff and service. With 4 swimming pools spread out across the resort and a whirlpool and services at each, the resort never feels crowded even when all the rooms are occupied. Highly recommended.
