Sheraton Vistana Villages
- What's Included
We stayed in the Key West village which turned out to be a great base for trips around Orlando. Would recommend. The many swimming pools were fantastic however the restaurant was slightly disappointing. We also had a problem with our oven bit this was rectified as soon as the hotel were made aware.
Condo in the spa village was just ok. We had ants in the kitchen and called front desk. Sprayed vut didnt fix the ant problem. My brothers room was very musty smelling and couldnt just air it out. Kids loved the pools.
We stayed in October of 2017. The hotel property is nicely kept & there are pools within walking distance of any room. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit at the Key West area of the resort. It was quite a distance from the main lobby but since we did not really use the main lobby & had a car it was no big deal. They do not have bell hops but there are luggage carts at every building lobby. The kitchen was great, however I wish they had an baking sheet to cook pizza. They did however have a coffee maker, plates, baking dishes, glasses, mugs, bowls & silverware. Starbucks Coffee was provided. The rooms are on a split plan, which was great. The master bedroom was a nice size with a king bed & the bathroom was spacious with two sinks & separate whirlpool tub & shower. There was a playground and bbq area, which looked well kept. It is a vacation property & we were called way too often to join one of their sales pitch breakfasts. We opted out!We enjoyed our stay & would definitely select this resort on future family vacations.
Full disclosure, we're vacation owners at this property so we may have a slightly different view of things and have a different level of service than a non-owner. If anything, I hate to share bad reviews but after twice experiencing the same type of thing, here goes. At reservation, once midway to the trip, and once immediately prior to leaving when they called us to confirm the reservation and any special requests - we specifically requested accommodations in the Bella units. We've been doing this for years, usually no problem. I've also got a feather allergy so confirmed our condo would be de-feathered. We arrive and are told they cannot honor our request to be in Bella, they've put us in St. Augustine, we should have asked to be in Bella prior to check in (gave up arguing that we had actually done that). Ok, let that one go as he then said they also have a no change order on the room because it's been de-feathered. I'm happy they've remembered, this is the first time they've remembered this (or so I think). Sadly that caused me to believe they actually had de-feathered the room. They hadn't. It's my fault I didn't check before going to bed that evening but did check when I woke up up the next day with allergy symptoms to discover the beds had not been de-feathered. Next to the shower; full of long black hair from the previous guest, lots of it. DISGUSTING. Went to call guest services only to discover the phones don't work so I instead called Jose our 'call me for anything' personal concierge on my cell phone. I left him a message regarding the feathers and the shower. Nothing happens, no return call, no one checking with us in any way ever during our entire stay. I sort through all the pillows and bedding in the condo (two bedrooms) and I get rid of the down myself. Thankfully half the pillows were fiber fill so I could segregate. Since we had a two bedroom condo we could also use the other shower. We then went to our owners meeting with Lenny, shared this information, still nothing happens. Lenny gives us a story that they're all contractors and it's to be expected since the transition to ILG and the contractors are on their way out. We ask that the cleaning fee be waived. Nothing happens. Later that day I ran into a member of the housekeeping staff and asked her to specifically follow me to the shower and pointed out the issue, she cleaned it for us. Note that this is actually after housekeeping had done our cleaning (if you're an owner you get housekeeping once during your stay). There were other minor items around cleanliness I could mention, food on the over door, etc., but the shower was the major one for us. Not be totally negative, the Bella and quiet pools were open (closed last time we were there) and it was nice to spend the days in and out of the pools.
Our room was clean and very nice. Low rise building with stairs but also an elevator which was great. Nicely decorated and Included all the amenities of home...washer, dryer, kitchen with dishwasher, towels, pots, pans, dishes, cutlery...the works... and yet you could walk or be picked up by the Vistana's car to go to any of the restaurants. Best of both worlds. When calling for a ride throughout the resort, it's a free service, however we always tipped the great people who were helpful and friendly. They also helped carry groceries up to our rooms when needed. Very polite! TV in bedroom and living room. I believe there are around 7 pools on the property so you have your choice and each one is incredibly beautiful. We were absolutely surprised at the value for money and how well done this resort is. Only downfall is they ask you to sit and listen to a little speech about possibly buying in. We did this but its not mandatory.
