Too much hustling to buy a timeshare

Note that there are two Sheraton Vistana properties and it is very easy to get them mixed up. There is a Sheraton Vistana Resort which is 2 miles away on Vistana Drive and this property. I originally made a reservation for Vistana resort, not realizing that there were two properties with very similar names. Adding confusion is that my e-mail Sheraton Vistana Resort reservation did not list the address on it. That property is much bigger. The clerk told me it is approx 150 acres. Prices are slightly lower there. Employees on the phone and at both properties told us that people get them mixed up all the time. So easy to do, especially when your reservation doesn't even have the address on it. This is a Sheraton timeshare property. I booked a room at this property to stay with family that was staying there. I had absolutely no interest in buying a timeshare here or anywhere else for that matter. Every day we received a phone call asking us for a "free gift" or some other incentive to try to go to a timeshare presentation. I was here on vacation, not to get hustled. I have stayed at Westin and Marriott timeshares and have never been hustled like this. Putting that aside, the property is nice. I am a Starwood platinum member and generally platinum rewards don't apply to timeshare properties. However when I checked in, I was acknowledged as a platinum member and our room was upgraded to a 2 bedroom. We were in building 25 which overlooks the pool. Despite the pool being outside our window, we didn't hear the kids at the pool when the sliding glass doors were closed. The 2 bedroom is around 1100 square feet, two bedroom, two full bath, plenty of room and everything in good working order. Only complaints - the furniture was really uncomfortable. Our couch had really high arms so when you sat in it, the sides were too high for your arms. Seems like it was made for a really tall person. My family, who was also in a two bedroom - they had the opposite problem - when you sat in the couch, it seemed like it was made for kids. The outside furniture was also uncomfortable. Our family stayed in the "Key West" Section which is currently being renovated. Their unit was also very nice but it had a funny smell to it. We were hoping to be in the same building as our family but after smelling that, I asked for a different building. It smelled like the AC had been off for a long time - for those of you that live or travel in humid areas, you will know that smell. We asked for an early check in, which is at 4 pm. Around noon, they told us our room was ready but was "waiting for a supervisor to check it out". They said they would call or text us. They never did. At 4 we went back and they said our room was ready. When we got there, it was ready but it was really odd. All the lights were on, all the drawers were open and the couch was pulled out. But it was clean so that wasn't a big deal. Also, as is so common with hotels, the carpet needs cleaning. It looked clean but walking around in white socks - you quickly realize it's filthy. The price was right for a unit of this size in this area but I'll have to think about if I will stay here again. I did not appreciate getting hustled almost every day. The employees are very nice and accommodating but I question how this and the other resort is managed.

Re: poor service

Service poor. Waiting for crib and bed rails forever. Confirmed with hotel Staff 3 times before check in time to make sure they had rails and crib. I was told the 3 times that there were in the room already. Of course checked in with 2 toddlers ready to sleep and over tired and there were nowhere to be found. Not only this, I was informed after checked in, charged for incidentals and in the room that they didn’t have any bed rails available.

Super place to STAY

We had a 2 bedroom suit. It made us feel at home with the kitchen, dinning area and living area with 3 flat screen tvs and a screened in porch. The room was very clean and in good shape. Now the property is almost like another park with activities for the kids thru out the day, The many swimming pools and rec room. You are not far from shopping, grocery stores and restaurants.Disney is not far and Disney Spring is just a few minutes away.THIS IS THE BEST PLACE WE HAVE STAYED IN ORLANDO

Great hotel for a family stay.

We stayed at the one bedroom, which was very nice. we had a free crib for our baby and my mom stayed in the living room on the pull out couch. The hotel is nice, the pools are great, so many activities for kids. The dishes in the hotel could be better, but still it was great to be able to cook and eat in for most of our vacation. Considering we had a 1 bedroom, the price was quite good. The time-share part was not that great, we did do the free breakfast and sales presentation, but we had a very nice guy who did the presentation. At the end of the presentation his manager came to try to make the final sale and she was horrible, if we had her we would have run for the woods. Even though she said in the beginning that we have no obligation to buy she was almost bullying us to buy. Also had a hard time getting back the 20 USD deposit, although after a couple of calls I finally got a good manager on the phone who saw it through till the end and made sure that my deposit was returned so i'm very happy finally with that aservice.

Excellent resort

We stayed here for two weeks at the beginning of November whilst competing in the Disney Wine and Dine half marathon challenge. We hadn't stayed at a Sheraton before but thought we would try somewhere different following a price increase at our usual stay, Vista Cay.The resort was easy to find from the airport and is located on the quite end of International Drive. Although there is a Publix Supermarket very near by and plenty of places to eat. The resort is very close to Seaworld and the I4. We also found the resort very convenient for getting to the Disney races for 4am on three occasions! On arrival we were met by a very friendly chap (unfortunately I cant recall his name) but he was extremely helpful, explained everything we needed to know in detail and was just generally very accommodating... nothing seemed like any trouble. We were given a one bedroomed apartment in block 29 on the fifth floor. Although we were near the entrance to the resort, we didn't have any problems with noise from International Drive. We also felt the resort was safe, there was someone on the gate 24 hours a day. Out apartment was on the top floor, there was a lift but we used the stairs to keep fit for our races. It was nice to have a view of the local area. The apartment was big enough for our needs, nice big comfortable bed, lovely whirl pool bath for after the half marathon. Lounge and dinning area and small kitchen. The kitchen came stocked with washing up liquid, dishwasher powder, washing machine powder, kitchen roll and coffee which was a bonus... normally have to buy these else where. Onsite there is plenty to do, there are swimming pools, gyms, shop etc. Its actually a nice little run around the resort as well. Didn't have any problem with parking, there was always a space outside our block.Other reviews have commented on the pushing of attending a presentation on time shares, we were asked once and we declined and that was the end of it.On the whole we enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton and would definitely stay here again next time we are in Orlando.
