Sonesta ES Suites Orlando
- What's Included
Pros: Spacious suites, soft mattresses, clean, lots of lounging areas in and outside, shaded parking lot, friendly staff, nice laundry, room got cleaned daily, plenty of breakfast seating, close to restaurants and a Walgreens, temperature control worked well. I've never seen a broom and dustpan in a suite kitchen before, so that was a nice touch. Lots of places to hang wet suits. Lots of places to charge electronics. Cons: One elevator was broken for two days. The jacuzzi was closed due to a chemical issue. There's no complimentary tea or coffee in the evening. One really strange thing was the absence of a dishrag and pot holder. How do you wipe the table and counter? How do you pick up a hot pan/pot/kettle? We had two different suites because we checked out one night to go to the Hard Rock for the express passes. Our first suite smelled very musty. I believe the smell was coming from a gap between the top of the sink and the countertop. Surely water gets in that crack?? This was room 411 if anyone reading this wants to investigate. Our second suite smelled better and didn't have the gap. Unfortunately, I requested a room away from I-Drive due to the potential traffic noise. We were told the hotel was full. We were "treated" to a concert across the street by the ferris wheel that had our room thumping and shaking until I took a sleeping pill and conked out. Finally, there are four bins in the breakfast area for cereal. Three out of the four contained cornflakes the day we left . This was the first hotel I've ever stayed in that didn't offer bran flakes, raisin bran or some other healthy cereal that appeals to adults.Misc. comments: Change hotels if you are assigned a room facing the ferris wheel and you're a light sleeper. Also, I've read several reviews stating that the hotel needs remodeling. Management has stated that it was renovated in 2014 and the furnishings reflect that. I think, however, that the original switch plates and cottage cheese ceiling were left untouched and this might lead some people to believe that everything is old.
This hotel is everything you'd hope for in an all-suite hotel and then some. The rooms are large, clean, and modern. The grounds are quiet. The hotel is literally right across the street from a dozen restaurants and bars, there's tons to do nearby. We left the car at the hotel and walked everywhere and spent hours at various I-drive attractions. We were out until 2am at the Tin Roof bar right across the street, they had a great cover band. I'll definitely be staying here again.
Firstly the staff at the Hotel were incredibly helpful and friendly, and are a credit to the Hotel. The location is also very convenient. The downsides: -Mona, the Concierge sold us tickets for the I Ride Trolley, on using them we realised they had other guests names on them and clearly stated these tickets could not be resold or transferred. Had we been asked to provide ID as the tickets stated we would have been thrown off the Trolleys as our passports wouldn't match the names printed on the tickets. Is this standard practice for the Hotel to resell other guests unused tickets, and are the guests aware their personal details such as names are being passed on to other guests? The reception area is newly decorated, and clean. The rooms are very tired, money has been spent on new soft furnishings but the air con is old and noisy, the bathrooms need attention, and the kitchen area is dated. The housekeeping is described as light touch which is fine, but the floors were filthy, and left you with black feet! The cleaning also didn't include replenishing the coffee, wiping down the surfaces in the kitchen or bathroom area, nor were there supplies to do this yourself, we also had to ask for toilet rolls when they ran out as these were not replaced automatically. The window next to the bed directly overlooked the main corridor so the curtains had to be kept shut at all times. This appears to be a standard design feature of all the rooms.
If you're on the side of the hotel close to giant ferris wheel you can kiss off any hope of sleep much before midnight. Terrible sound insulation so the walls vibrate with obnoxious music and a DJ yelling all night. No room service. The floor is filthy, took my shoes off and walked from bedroom to bathroom and my socks are black on the bottom. The room rate is reasonable for what you get, but unapologetic and unhelpful staff who have no solution for their affected guests...I'd think twice. I definitely would never come back and am glad I travel with noise cancelling headphones as I'm sure it's the only way I can drown out the bass and vibrating walls.
We went to this hotel on the 2nd Feb to the 16th Feb 2017 the hotel was clean and tidy the staff was very helpful the breakfast was ok the rooms are big and tidy and clean and the staff was willing to go out there way to help from the martin family
