Tuscana World Hotel Resort
- What's Included
Stayed at Tuscana Resort with my family for the first 2 weeks in July. Check in was quick and we were directed to our room, in block 5. On arrival to the room our door key was not working. Returned to reception desk, who quickly sent someome to fix the issue. Our room was quite disappointing, run down with ripped chairs and worn carpets. Also old box tv's which were an eyesore. Tried to connect to wi-fi, which wasn't working. Went out for a bite to eat at Tuscana's Bistro, which was lovely and reasonably well priced. Returned to room to discover the door key was again not working. Reception again dealt with the issue quickly. Wi-fi was still not working, we were informed that this would be fixed. The next day the wi-fi still wasn't working and the door key failed another twice. My partner spoke to a lovely young lady, Abby, in reception. She couldn't have been nicer, was very apologetic, quickly arranged for us to move to another room and offered to refund the resorts daily fee (which is for wi-fi, facilities, etc). Our second room was lovely, had newer furnishings and flat screen tvs, it was spotless and beds were very comfy. All in all we liked the resort, clean, great swimming pool, friendly staff and excellent location. The one negative, and this is the one thing which would stop us from returning, is the fact that the ceilings/floors in the rooms are very thin. Thus, if you are unlucky enough to have inconsiderate people above you, you are going to be subjected to the constant noise and irritance of them stamping around their room, opening/closing drawers, etc. We were in room 1304 and the family above us were completely ignorant and oblivious to the fact that we were below them. Their son even had a hockey stick and proceeded to play hockey, in the room, on a daily basis! This is not the fault of the resort but perhaps reminding guests during check-in to be courteous to guests below them, would be a good idea. Would we return if guaranteed a top floor room? Possibly.
We stayed at the resort for 8 nights and our experience was great! We booked through Airbnb, but the condo staff, specifically Jenny and Craig at the Bar/Restaurant are amazing and made our stay so fun! They were so accommodating and food and drink was excellent every night!
We stayed at Tuscana for 21 nights which resulted in an additional payment at check in of $248. Please note that you will be charged a resort fee payment. They will say in their reply to this post that it is an industry wide charge. But I checked with 3 local, similar properties and none charged it. We weren't told by our travel agents about the charge so not the resorts fault. But definitely the reason we will not return. Considering the resort fee is so they can keep their standards high , we found the standards are not high. From the girl who checked us in, who quite frankly obviously did not want to be there to the desk staff member who didn't report our air conditioning fault , we found the staff disinterested. We had someone banging on our door at 1am , trying the handle and pushing the door. When I attempted to report this to get security to assist us my call was put through to an answering service. The woman was hopeless, she asked me the address of the Tuscana ?? And asked me if I had called the police? I attempted to explain to her that I felt if security could come round and make this drunk realise he was at the wrong door that would solve the problem. She said without the postal address she couldn't help me? Luckily my husband managed to move the drunk on but only after a good 10/15 minutes. If I had been there without my husband I would have been terrified with someone trying to get into my condo. I reported this to the front desk the following morning to have the whole incident laughed at, I was told "he must had had one too many beers" and when I mentioned how hopeless the answering service was this was also laughed off "she must have been a new member of staff " was my reply. This incident was not the resorts fault, they can't help guests getting so drunk they don't know where their apartment is but how it was dealt with (or not as the case was) was a big failure on the resorts part. We also woke up one morning to no air conditioning. This was reported to front desk at 9am, we were out all day and returned at 5.30pm to still no air conditioning. Not what you want when the temperature outside is 95 degrees!! It took 3 phone calls over the next hour to get someone to repair it. Whilst the maintenance man was in our condo he took a call from front desk about my issue and it came to light that my report at 9am that morning hadn't even reached the maintenance team. It's not all bad, we requested a top floor apartment prior to arriving(having stayed years before we know how bad the sound proofing is so knew a top floor is the way to go) and we were indeed given a top floor. Also the grounds of the complex are well kept. Our condo was not dirty, but a little grubby. Not sure the last time under the kitchen sink had been cleaned, but on the whole it wasn't too bad. For us we are returning since the introduction of the resort fee and for us it's one of the reasons we will not return. We all pay enough to stay without them adding extra charges on. But if they do add such charges it raises your expectations and you want things to be spot on and for us things need to improve. The front desk staff are the front line for customers and should be glad to see us and act in our requests. Honestly your resort was let down by your staffs attitudes and your resort fee charges, two reasons that we will not return. Orlando has so much choice of accommodation for travellers we have already booked elsewhere for next years trip. If your aware of the extra charges and still want to book I would definitely recommend asking for a top floor apartment. Having had experience of people above us on our last visit to Tuscana it was terrible, sound proofing is really bad.
This "resort" was certainly a lot less than we expected. I'm not really sure you can call it a resort.....The good... Smooth checkin, the condo was very clean, and the security gate works well. Nice pool & workout room. The bad... The property seems really dated. Older appliances that are well worn. The staff here isn't rude, but not friendly at all. Very short & matter of fact. The televisions are all very small and the remotes are in terrible shape. Very limited supply of essentials (trash bags, toilet paper, dish detergent, etc.).The ugly.... Given that this is marketed as a "resort", they advertise certain amenities such as a grill, picnic area, and basketball courts. So after my daughter's dance competition, we purchased food, charcoal, and drinks to grill out. We were directed to bldg 9 for the grill and picnic area....what we found was a joke. A sad little area over near the run down trash dumpsters and barbed wire enclosure that featured a small playground, 25 ft basketball goals with no nets & a rusted out little grill that was lying on the ground. AMAZING!I went back to the customer service desk and told them (even showed them pics) and I was basically told to deal with it.Needless to say, we would never come back and don't recommend this place. We were so busy with dance that we didn't realize this until we'd already been here a few days or would have cancelled our stay.
The resort was beautiful and very clean. The staff was very nice! Lisa made sure we had information about the area and gave maps and coupons for are restaurants. The onsite bar was great - everyone was friendly and the food was very good. Jenny, the bar's manager, is the BEST! She was funny and has a great personality. It's was a great stay- I had a great time!
