Best Value/Experience at Universal!

As soon as you step on the property you feel like you've stepped back in time, or are on the set of the Jetsons! The staff is friendly and helpful, the shuttles are extremely convenient, and the decor/music make it so fun! This is the perfect place to stay even if you aren't going to the parks, but ESPECIALLY if you're going to the parks. You could not get a better bang for your buck elsewhere, especially with the ease of getting there (the extra hour before the park opens, the stores sending things you buy back to the hotel so you don't have to lug them around, and the 5 minute shuttle ride!!)We took a girls trip, adults only, and had a blast. It probably is even more fun with kids! And it has a great restaurant, pool area, and bowling alley.Stay here, you won't regret it.

Affordable and great place to stay for Universal visitors

We have been to this Hotel many times. The last visit was earlier in 2017 and back then there was a lot of construction and noise. This past weekend, no construction, the new Volcano Bay water park that they built right next to this hotel is awesome and our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable.Cabana Bay is an excellent place for families. Lots of kids everywhere and many fun things to do.Two large pool areas, with slides, a beach, a lazy river etc. is ideal for the kids. Weather permitting, there is an evening movie at the pool. The bus to Universal takes only a few minutes.Food in this hotel is average. We usually eat at city walk or somewhere outside. This time is the first time we actually had dinner in the hotel, or better, got dinner in the hotel and ate outside at the fire pit. It's not awesome, but also not expensive. I guess if you need to feed the whole family quickly, it works. My last review in March was not very positive because of the construction noise, but that seems to all be finished and the volcano looks great from your window. Will recommend!

Retro setting with modern delights

Our family of three had previously stayed at the Disney All-Star value resorts so we thought it was time to give Universal a go. Just like the All-Star resorts this value resort is in the lower price range than the other theme park owned hotels. It is still expensive though, pricewise you could find less expensive options on Universal Drive but it is not the same as being in the heart of the action. We thought Cabana Bay was much better than its Disney equivalents. The rooms are bigger with a separate lounge and it feels like you are getting more for your hard-earned money. Both pools were nice (but a bit cold) and the evening movies and fire pits were a lovely option after a long day in the park. And we loved having the diner and ten pin bowling upstairs. The food was ok, if not a bit repetitive but again better service than the All-Stars. We rarely had to wait long for our food or when paying, but that very much depends on when you eat. There are a few Universal hotels to choose from and most are close to the parks. That's the thing about there, Disney is so spread out that the internal transport service can take longer, here everything is right next to each other.Definitely recommend you consider here if you are not driving.Overall we had a great time...hope you do too...just take plenty of spending money!

Nice huge hotel, but not eligible for Express lines at Universal

Royal Caribbean booked us into this hotel as part of our cruise/Universal package. We found out later that Cabana Bay and Sapphire Falls don't qualify for the Express Ride pass that the other In-Park hotels qualify you for. Express Ride gets you to the front of the line at most of the Universal rides and attractions. We came off the cruise at 8am, met our shuttle driver (who was early) and arrived at the Cabana Bay around 10am. I figured that we would have to store our luggage and head to Universal until a room was ready, but I was wrong! We were checked right into our room. Then on our last day, our shuttle to the airport wasn't until 3pm. We were given an additional 2 hours to stay in our room after checkout so we could go swimming and relax before traveling home. So we spent about an hour and a half waiting in the huge lobby for our (again early!) shuttle driver. Our room was in the Beachside Tower and was really nice. Shower was huge and great, especially after coming from a cruise ship. Beds were comfortable. Entire wall of windows. Lots of TV channels and a few with old movies. VO5 shampoo and Zest soap were staples in the bathroom. The walk to the Beachside Tower was curvy and very long, especially after walking all day at Universal. Heavy gates and doors had to be managed as well. The landscaping was pretty and it was clean, just a huge property. If you are driving yourself, find the parking lot behind the Continental (I think) and park there so you don't have to walk so much. We really looked forward to the Lazy River part of the pool. The water temp was cooler than the pools and you had to buy your own tube. They would blow it up for you after you bought it. No tubes to rent or just use. We swam around twice. The lifeguards are so focused when on duty. The swimming pool was nice, clean and warmer. Again, very focused life guards. Lots of beach chairs and part of the pool sitting area is sand. Clean towels available throughout the pool area. We didn't make it to the other pool area where there was a water slide. The hot tub was hot, but felt good on worn out feet and knees.

Very Happy

This hotel is super clean. The staff was amazingly helpful, it was like they were all on vacation too! The parking guys were also especially helpful. They gave us info on other cool places to go in Orlando that were off the map. You also feel very safe as a family here. Life guards all friendly but very aware of everyone in the pool. And super safe on Thunder storms approaching. Great family vacation. Would go here again! Also know that you can walk to parks. Beautiful walking path, as we are new yorkers, super easy 15-20 min walk. Ask someone where the path is. better the shuttle in my opinion.
