Good hotel, pleasant stay, marred by constant nickel-and-diming of the customer

Arrived late in the evening and was checked in very efficiently by a pleasant lady at the desk. Very informative - explained the layout of the hotel and its sister property, the Swan. As a SPG Platinum member, we received an upgraded room - very large and spacious - no view, but that was OK. Very close to the elevator, as I had requested. The room was very comfortable, good shower heads, well supplied with very nice towels and amenities. Had a refrigerator. Good maid service daily. Now for the criticisms - this so-called "resort" assesses a daily fee of $23 for "resort services." It was never very clear what this constituted. Why not simply add this to the price of the room on a daily basis? Well, for one thing, they would have to eat the fee on folks like me who stay on SPG points. The real kicker is that they are too cheap to pay SPG points on those resort charges!!! The next insult is the free breakfast extended to Platinum members. When one gets there, it is made abundantly clear that the "free" only includes juice, coffee, cereal, pastries, and yogurt. No eggs or bacon. I have stayed in dozens of Sheratons around the world and have never encountered such cheapness on the part of a hotel. They wanted another $8 per person for the hot dishes - absolutely NOT!!!! I guess it's all part of revenue enhancement, and they are learning from the master of it, Disney.Also noted is the charge to park - now $20 per day for self-parking. A few years ago it was complimentary. More revenue enhancement, I suppose. Aside from daily breakfast in Fresh, we ate a late nite snack in Picabu - really rather poor quality food at an outlandish price. If you want to pay high prices - go to the parks - the prices will be about the same, but the quality of the food will be significantly better.By and large, the advantages of this hotel outweigh the petty irritations of being nickel-and-dimed to death. Great location - the boat ride to Epcot and to Hollywood studios takes only a few minutes and goes about every 20 minutes. The buses to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom likewise go about every 20 minutes. I was considering renting a car until I read about the $20/day fee - I decided to go with Uber to and from the airport and used Uber late one night when returning from the California Grill in the Contemporary. My Uber costs totaled less than the $100 fee I would have been charged for parking, let alone the costs of the vehicle.This hotel is a decent value given its location and amenities - if they would simply knock off the constant attempts at revenue enhancement and include the fees in the first place, they would have more satisfied customers and make just as much money.

Treated like royalty

Loui (I really don’t know if I wrote it right) went above and beyond to fix a mistake I made on my reservation. She didn’t hesitate to make the required calls, talk to management, correct everything and even found me a better deal for my stay. She’s done all of this with a big, sincere smile... Thanks to her and the rest of the staff I’ll definitely staying there every time I visit Orlando Florida.

Celebrating after cancer journey

My husband is a platinum member and is loyal to the Brand. We had been to this hotel a few years back and we had some major cleaning issues so I made sure to do my due diligence and call ahead and request assistance. Alex was fantastic and professional she made sure that we had two rooms which was very generous and appreciated. Unfortunately when we checked in the same issues that we dealt with years back we’re still prominent there was hair in the bathroom floor not just a little but a lot to look like the bathrooms weren’t even cleaned the bathroom sink would never drain the whole time we stayed the air-conditioner had a high-pitched ringing noise all during the night.The pros of the stay were the people that help rectify the situation one being the front desk manager Janley She took the initiative to remove a nights stay for us it’s unfortunate that I had to spend my time on my vacation to follow up with housekeeping to wait in our room two hours for housekeeping manager and making various calls downstairs due to issues we were having with our room.For me the most telling issues are the fact that the GM will not take any time to speak with me, I requested a few minutes of his time and he had his executive assistant call me and basically tell me that he is too busy to speak with me directly. We have been loyal customers and the fact that the GM won’t take time out of his busy schedule to talk to us about our stay is insulting.

Less Disney, still fare from the real world

The Dolphin looks like Miami South Beach art deco on an acid trip. And the giant dolphins do not really look like dolphins, more lice some fishy fishes. But the hotel was nice enough. We booked to get a few more days in "the World", and our Disney Disney hotel was fully booked. Perfectly situated close to both Epcot and Studios parks, and with excellent boat service to both parks.. Unfortunately we got a room whit a leak from the bathroom into the bedroom, and even though it should be fixed during the day it was not. We got a new room and some compensation, but they could have solved this in a better way, not let us discover it when we got home from the parks late and really ready to hit the pillows. But the hotel itself and the new room in as nice as one can expect. The restaurants are somewhat overpriced, even for Disney World, but the Boardwalk and Yacht/Disney Club is next door (and all the Epcot restaurants jus a short boatride away). Nice pool area.

Don’t let the pictures fool you

The official pictures of the resort make it look modern and up to date. It’s far from it and badly needs some renovation. Besides that the place is huge, but without any character. The one upside is that their banquet team can cook a better than average steak for 1,000 people.
