Walt Disney World Swan Resort
- What's Included
We stayed here for nearly a week during the winter holidays, because of a programme my younger daughter was doing or we would never have stayed for such a long while. This hotel is NOT a Disney hotel, but a Marriot owned one, which means Magic Bands could not be used there for room entrance, crediting purchases to rooms or meal plans etc. 1. ROOMS: not very spacious and not outstanding for my family of 2 adults and 2 children (6 and 15) but we could see a tiny bit of fireworks from the room. Rooms were generally clean. The corridor leading to our room was a little dark, especially when you are coming back from the parks at nights.2. HOTEL: in general, the service was average. The grounds were large and spacious - there are lakes that you can take a small boat in and the pools are heated, with slides. The Japanese and Italian restaurants there were extremely good & the Mediterranean restaurant there is good for a wonderful buffet breakfast but do be prepared to book this in advance and also spend a longer time there. All the restaurants are pretty expensive but the food is really good. 3. CONVENIENCE: it feels like this hotel is in the middle of everything honestly! Despite not being a Disney hotel, it has one of the most transportation options. You can walk to Epcot (a short 15 minutes walk) and Disney Boardwalk. There are water taxis you can take to Hollywood Studios and to Epcot. Bus services are to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom and they depart every 20 – 25 minutes. However, bus transfers might be required sometimes. All in all, a rather average experience, probably will not go there again. Will recommend this hotel for a short stay if you prioritise transport convenience to Hollywood Studios and Epcot! Hope this helped!
We loved our stay! The hotel has everything, including a jazz club, pool cabana, water slide, grotto, and a relaxing beach. We checked into the hotel at 5AM, and the help desk quickly linked our disney tickets and hotel to our smart bands. WDW hotel guests have access to extra hours which allowed us to get to the parks early. As a result, we only had a 20 minute wait for Pandora! It's faster to walk to Epcot than taking a boat, and town cars are available for a quick ride to the Magic Kingdom...definitely worth it!
We stayed in March for 5 days. It was convenient to visit Disney parks as either shuttle bus or water bus is running regularly. Also the restaurant at the ground floor is open until midnight, so it was easy to grab some food even after coming back from park late at night.
Writing about my experience only! Don't care, don't need to know about others.Just sharing! 2 adults, 2 kids. Food (allergy), hotel, transportation, amenities.I got an insane offer to stay at the Dolphin for my little daughter's birthday trip. Booked a hotel/flight and waited to enjoy the moment. We've traveled to Disney before and since hotel advertises itself as a Disney hotel I was expecting to receive the same treatment.NOTE, that this is NOT a Disney hotel. It is a Marriott owned hotel. They do offer transportation to the parks but NO transportation to the hotel or any other perks.I waited for my bracelets to arrive (the bracelets you need for entry to hotel room and any payment activities on the properties). Once it got too close I called them just to be informed that I will NOT be getting a free transportation nor bracelets. If you get a good deal, you can find transportation to the resort. I don't waste my time and just use Their OWN transportation services which arrived in a huge Cadillac SUV just for 4 of us for the price of about $200 roundtrip. Drivers are great, courteous and professional. I have no problem with that as it costs $20 more than a taxi. Problem is that the resort doesn't advertise their own transportation which is completely dumb business strategy. When we arrived we were greeted at the front desk by these young professionals who were extremely helpful, fun and professional. The guy convinced me to upgrade to a resort view which I did just to see the pool. But it's ok - it was my choice.Cleanliness of the rooms is insane! I've never seen such a clean room in my life. Beds were extremely comfortable and so were the pillows! Cleaning ladies truly do an amazing job. There was one issue though - second day there we came back at 1pm to see a room not finished yet with a wonderful cleaning lady outside. I asked if I'm next and she told me that they need to send her my room #. I called housekeeping asked them to have me cleaned next just to come back in 2.5 hours while it was raining outside to see that noone dispatched her. I called Guest Services who said they will call me back and of course noone did. Once I went to the front desk, everything got organized within few minutes.Food! My oldest daughter has dairy, peanut, shelfish and sesame allergies. With that we enjoyed their morning buffets in Mediterranean restaurant at $120 total which were delicious given the prices of the Disney resort with their $9 yogurts and the bagels "fresh enough" you can knock nails into wood. At night we went to amazing sushi place at the Swan twice and had nice dinner. Expensive but very nice!ALSO, for little kids - in the Swan they have breakfast with Characters. Amazing to see Pluto and Goofy come visit you for breakfast. And NO reactions to allergies! NONE! Disney is the safest place to go with your kids who have allergies!Transportation to the parks is free via Disney buses. First day there was such a crowd that I went to check how much it cost to take a taxi (there are always 5 or 6 available just parked there). It's only $22. Luckily my bus arrived within a minute and being that we are from NY area we fought our way to be the first ones on. It's only 15-20 mins tops.Location and amenities! The place is in the middle of everything. You walk to Disney Boardwalk. You are across from Hollywood Studios. You see Epcot from the property and can take a ferry. 15-20 mins from Magic Kingdom and prob same from Animal Kingdom. Place has an amazing pool with slides. Basketball court, playground and in the rainy days a great kids club with games, etc. Don't go to arcade - it's a rip off like any arcade. Everything is there. Overall the place is amazing. Service is either 100% or none depending on the people. There is NO average. Bad service is NOT from the place but from very few individuals who should not work there. Would I stay there again - yes. Would I change few things around - yes.But overall it was a great trip even though the weather didn't cooperate 100%.Honestly I don't know who's dumber - Marriott senior management or Disney but not to integrate this resort into full Disney experience is the dumbest business decision these geniuses can ever make!
The Dolphin Hotel looks impressive from the outside. The inside is cheap looking. The coffee bars are a bad joke. They can't even heat a bagel and the pastries offered were the lowest quality I have had in the US.The maid service was incompetent. Over the five days we were there the rooms were never made properly. Missing hand towels, wash cloths, Kleenex. Everyday was a surprise. The bathroom was tiny.Worst of all my I phone was stolen from the lobby men's room the first day we were there. We called the lost and found over 12 times asking if anyone turned in my phone. It wasn't until we made over 8 calls did someone from security tell us we had to open a lost/found file. I TOLD THEM THE PHONE WASN'T LOST, IT WAS STOLEN.Avoid this hotel.
