OverviewLakefront Villa Complex situated 1 mile from Sea World & 2 miles from Universal Studios.
We booked this location through Expedia .ca because it was near friends staying in Orlando. Beause of our VIP status with Expedia we were upgraded to a one bedroom deluxe villa. The unit was huge and both fully equipped & beautifully appointed. The resort had a marina, mini putt , tennis courts, 7 pools , well equipped fitness studio , on site restaurant. Netherlands staff went out of their way to be helpful. One time we asked for direction to the mini mart on site & reception called someone over with a golf cart to take us there, wait for us & then drive us to our unit. I felt this place actually deserved Resort in its name. . The staff was so friendly
We stay 4 days and 3 night. We loved the place. There was so much to do on the property. Pool side games and activetys for all ages. Boating, biking, tennis, and much more. We went on the tour it does take hours. But we got free tickets to the parks and our stay was very resonable we had 2 2 bed rooms side by side. There was so much room for everyon.
My husband and I were in town for a business convention. We waited too long to get rooms at the convention center designated hotels. We bid on one of the travel sites and secured a "4 star" hotel reservation for a very good price. Thing is, this place does not feel like a 4 star hotel. It has more of a glorified Mexican all- inclusive (somewhat grimey) resort feel to it. The amenities are there but it's a sprawled out complex. Daily housekeeping is conscientious and well done, but the deep cleaning that should happen to rooms obviously does not happen. There are also subtle maintenance issues and management issues- lots of bags of towels left in hallways overnight and dirty linen carts and maintenance equipment sitting around. Burned out light bulbs had not been changed. The shower doors did not close effectively. There were grimey baseboards. The sink drain it did not raise and lower. On the plus side there was a fridge and microwave which is generally not the case at real four star hotels. The parking was free which was another plus. If we had not cut the timeshare salesman off with surgical efficiency at the get go, we might have gotten suckered into having to sit through a sales presentation for a free breakfast. Thank goodness we had early morning meetings and are not much in the way of breakfast people. He quickly had little to say to us when it was obvious we were not going to listen to a timeshare sales pitch.
I would not recommend staying at this location. The rooms need to be updated, not as shown in photos. The washing machine leaked the entire time we were there, which resulted in wet floors. The one server we had at the restaurant was awful, so we never returned. They state free Valet yet beg you for tips while dropping off and picking up your vehicle which is parked ten feet away.
My husband and I were in town for the KBIS Conference. Our room was in building 7. During the conference we were out of the room by 8:00 AM and returned after 11:00 PM. We extended our trip at the end of the conference. Too our dismay the music at the pool between building 7 & 9 came on at 9:00 AM and remained on until 11:00 PM at night. So much for sleeping in a little or trying to watch the TV at an average sound level. The music was super loud...night club loud.Even this past Friday 1/13 when it rained all day the music was still blurring at the pool until 11:00 PM. You guessed it; no one was using the pool. Utterly Ridiculous! . I called the office to complain and I was advised that the pool is open to till 11:00 PM. I was told, they'll see if they can turn the volume down. NOT! We were amazed that a hotel would allow such a disturbance. We have traveled all over the world and I have never heard anything like it.On a different matter, the room furniture was updated with the exception of the refrigerator. The thermostat should have been thrown out 25 years ago. It didn't work efficiently and the very small digital readout was barely visible. We had to use our cell phone flashlight and close up glasses to view the readout. We were greeted on 1 day by a medium size cock roach on the bathtub. I was hopeful that we wouldn't see another. Thankful we didn't.There's an entrance door that leads into two separate units. It was noisy hearing our neighbors opening and closing their door. I suspect the sweep on the unit entrance door and the neighbor's door needs to be replaced. The bed was a tad hard, but the pillows were good.Overall the staff was nice. If I had one recommendation, do not stay near the pool.
