Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa
- What's Included
OverviewLakefront Villa Complex situated 1 mile from Sea World & 2 miles from Universal Studios.
We stayed in block 90, on the ground floor, with a one bedroom kind suite. It had a separate living room with a sink, dishwasher, stove, microwave, coffee maker, full size fridge, a pull out couch, 2 tvs (one in the bedroom and one in the living area). It had a large bathroom. It had the set up to be an excellent resort suite. The room had older mid level furniture that was a little beat up, older carpet. **The main thing that could have made our stay better was how loud the other residents were. Talking loud out on the balconies, porches, and in the parking lot. I stayed awake longer than I would have liked due to this noise, and woak up earlier because of it. One morning two men were talking excessively and loud around 7:00am...I could hear them thru the walls like they were standing outside our door. And I had planned to sleep in a bit. When arriving and checking in the resort shuffles you around the hobby like a hot potato. You check into reception. Suddenly there was someone walking me to the "welcome center" to get a welcome packet and to try to get me to come to their "free coffee and breakfast" after declining I was attempting to go back outside...where I had to walk through a group of about 5 people (workers). Where my room key was immediately snatched from my fingertips and I was told to follow behind this guy who was driving a golf cart. The resort was massive and we followed him...I was not really given a choice in the matter. We arrived to block 90 were we nicely told him to go away..."hey man, we got it covered...we don't cary cash". And he quickly left. It all quite intimidating and very desperate feeling. The resort offers all sorts of stuff. None of which we were interested. We were going to Universal. They do offer a free shuttle to universal. You have to "schedule" your seat ahead of time. We did not use this service. The resort is close to universal and a Walmart too.It was an alright stay overall. I paid $125 per night and I would not be willing to spend more than that. Iv stayed at much nicer places (room wise and noise level) for $125 to be honest. I probably would not stay here again. Orlando has so many options that I would try somewhere different next time. If I wanted all the "resort" stuff they offered I might have appreciated what they offered...but I didn't need any of that.Oh and the advertise free wifi when you book through a 3rd party...but they actually charge by the day...for each device. We spoke to a manger and got that waived though. And we had to call tech support because we couldn't connect to the internet. They were very helpful and friendly. Anyway hopes this helps someone.
Where do I begin. They put us in a two bedroom where the person upstairs was moving furniture or something all night until about 2or3am the they started back up at 5am I called numerous times and they kept saying they would send someone to check on things, all they offered for us not getting any sleep was a late check out. Fast forward we go to the ticket counter in the lobby to ask about sea world tickets and the lady says oh I have a good deal $175 per person I'm like wait what? How can your price be more than sea world theirs is only $99 then I call sea world and I was right I called the lobby to let her know and she makes up excuses and then blame it on her boss not being up to date with the park pricing. Then later I called and asked about tickets to the Mango Tropical cafe dinner and show she says $45 per person I call the Mango Tropical cafe directly they say only $14-$25 for a alacarte entree and that includes the dinner and show. So west gate you need to be ashamed of your self allowing another company to take advantage of your property owners as much money as we spend on being owners. Next our toilet in the master bedroom over flowed all into the floor maintenance came and unclogged it and radioed for house keeping no one ever came.my husband called again and no one came, I called no one came now we're at a hr past the time and it's still wet and stink I call again got a rude girl who laughs when I tell her we have a toddler and it's hard keeping him in the bed and not allow him to walk around and as much money as we spend being owner this is unacceptable she thought it was funny. I spoke to a supervisor in housekeeping who said the operators never told them that we called. I speak to a hotel supervisor who once again says for our inconvenience and the girls rudeness they can give us a late checkout once again. I had to explain no that's all you all ever want to do I don't need a late check out I need for this bathroom to be cleaned. Finally they come and speaking in Spanish and laughing the whole time. You all are very disrespectful and classless while being unprofessional. Don't worry about us coming back I don't give business to companies who don't appreciate me or treat me like my business matters. To make matters worse we call the lobby to ask about a shuttle to sea world the guy says yes they have one then we go to the lobby and we are told it left at 9:30am and it only leaves once a day and leaves the park 30min before the park it seems like west gate makes all of these promises to get you to join but none of them will be upheld. We did a candle and sand thing with our one yr old grandson and they charged $12 and if we wanted to make ice cream sundae that was a charge too Shane on you west gate for penny, nickel and dimming your property owners after all the money we spend with you
Had a great stay. Stayed in a 2 room suite with 2 adults and 3 teenagers, 17, 17, 16. View of Lake from balcony. 3 rooms total (2 bedrooms and kitchen and living room)The Master suite was huge -had king bed with very large jacuzzi tub and also a roomy standup shower. Also lounge chair and a TV (reception was not great). Smaller room with 2 twin beds next to another bath room. Full size kitchen with dishes, silverware and glassware. Living room couch with pull out queen sized bed. Tv in living room and in small bedroom as well. Rom was clean. They will try to get you to sit through a presentation to buy timeshare- you may opt out. I chose to sit through presentation. Received free breakfast for all 5 people, $75 cash, coupon book and members card, which allowed free putt putt golf (teenagers did this and said it was not fancy, but had good time), paddleboat, access to tennis and other sports equipment and continental breakfast outside by the pool on Tuesday or Thursday mornings. Presentation was 1 person (not big group) and lasted less than the hour and half that I was told it would take. Room is 4 miles from Universal and close to many restaurants. There is restaurant and sports bar onsite as well as shops and bowling alley. Everybody I talked to was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
We absolutely love arriving here! Our every needs are catered to from the moment we arrive until it's time to leave! Everything you need is right here at the resort, from the Spa to Drafts sports bar to the arcade and bowling alley. The best part though, is the people! Everyone is so eager to make sure our stay is amazing!
Most of the employees here are rude and the rest don't say hi or smile or sometimes don't even acknowledge you. Our room was dirty and had roaches . John the manager in the lobby changed our room. Manuel P was very polite and helpful he helped us grab our stuff and helped taking everything to the other room. I ordered a pizza from the deli and the bald guy with glasses there was rude and it seemed he got upset because he had to make a pizza. The young ladies at the gift center by Sids Bistro were very nice and helpful I was not able to find the paper with their name but I believe it's Christina and Lorena. Angel from Sids Bistro was very nice and polite. Back to the bad and worst, Felipe on the second floor where they want to sell you timeshares was very rude and interrupted my wife and laughed sarcastically at her just because she was saying no to buying a timeshare. They lose the manners when you say no upstairs and don't like Nos. I will no longer be staying at any Westgate specially not this one.
