Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa
- What's Included
OverviewLakefront Villa Complex situated 1 mile from Sea World & 2 miles from Universal Studios.
We stayed in the 1000 building for one week in July 2017. We were a bit worried due to some of the reviews. I think a person's experience will depend on the room you are assigned. We stayed in a room that was new and modern, like the official pictures for the resort. It could have used a better cleaning, as there were still crumbs on the kitchen floor, dust and dirt in corners that hadn't been vacuumed on the carpets, but overall it was acceptable. We stayed in a 3 bedroom unit but could only use 2 bedrooms. The room that had 2 queen beds was facing an elevator. It was VERY noisy, and none of us could sleep there, In addition to the constant elevator noise, there were the usual drunks, the intoxicated people who would come back to the building at 2 or 3 in the morning, shouting and yelling like it was the middle of the afternoon, with complete disregard for the hundreds of people trying to sleep in the middle of the night. It would be a good idea for Westgate to use soundproof glass windows at least for the one bedroom that faces the elevator, as otherwise this bedroom is just wasted space and cannot be used. Parking is also a problem. If you do not return by 4pm to the building, you will not find parking. There is a parking garage, similar to a shopping mall, but it is quite the walk to come back from it, once you park your car, especially in the night. If you have mobility issues, and have a hard time walking, this might not be the resort for you. We stayed in an owner's unit, so we were able to use all the facilities in the resort for free. However, we often witnessed people complaining because they had to pay for activities, and that held people up who were waiting. It would be good if all these things could be explained at check in. The kitchen has limited resources. A simple non-stick frying pan would really be appreciated. We have stayed at many timeshares in the Orlando area, (at least once a year over the last twenty years), and every single one had a non-stick frying pan, except this one. Westgate uses only glass dishes. If you prefer a ceramic coffee cup for your morning coffee, you will need to bring one, or buy one while you are down there. The maintenance people start bright and early, to keep the resort clean. Our unit backed onto the mini golf. Someone with a leaf blower was out there blowing the leaves off the golf course bright and early at 8am. Lots of people complain about the timeshare sales. We did not see nor hear from the timeshare sales people until half an hour before check out. We were there for one full week. Check out is at 10 am. We requested a later check out, and were told we could stay until 10:30 am. (In that extra half hour, a cleaning crew showed up twice to see how much longer we were planning to stay because they needed us to leave). At 9:30 we received a phone cal from the timeshare sales department, telling us that we had checked in a couple of days ago, and needed to come to a breakfast, where we would get a $100 cash gift for attending. I explained that we were told to leave by 10:30. The man said no, no, no, we could stay until 12 if we came to this breakfast. We turned down the offer. That was the only timeshare sales interaction that we had, the entire time we were there.Other than that everything was great. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious. The furniture is new. It looks quite nice. We spent very little time there, as we were in town to visit Orlando sites. We stayed at the resort for an hour for mini golf on one day, and paddle boats for half an hour on another day. We used 3 of the seven pools. One was heated, and 2 were not. However, it is very hot and humid outside in July, so the cooler pools were great. The pool areas are clean. There were always enough chairs. There are no lifeguards, so you need to watch your own kids, which some people don't realize... It's a good base for exploring Orlando and surrounding areas, as long as you have a car.
I own a timeshare, and traded to go here . Non owners get charged for everything, so as the gym, wifi, activities. The staff drive carts around the property like maniacs. No room cleaning. The parking lot is so crowded that at night you have to park several blocks from your room, and this place needs a room upgrade.
I spend my week there, I have own this for years, but I have not come back until now. we had a good time, our apartments were clean and in good condition but I really recommend to upgrade and restore the style, I agree is outdated, we pay a lot so it is important that the company makes the update necesary. The kids has a great time and the adults we were able to relax a little. It is a shame that the spa charges a lot for the sauna and turkish bath making for a family imposible, with the parks and the activities if the grown ups had the opportunity to use the spa would had been a great thing, but we had to choose parks or spa.
Amazing staff they upgraded us without any fees beacuse i do t like the room they gave us the better It was big apartment Comfortable bed JakoziBig hall There's washing machine Cute kitchen Location was goodFree parking Sure next year i will come back Recommend 😍❤
love this place, very clean, close to everything,we own a villa again and so happy we made the choice to come back and had a blast, will surely come back here when we visit again! well worth your money and safe, they have loads of things on site to do when your resting from the parks all day
