Dolphin Beach Resort
- What's Included
We were visiting family in Zephyrhills and had a couple nights to spare for some beach time, picked this spot due to location, reviews, and affordability. We'd definitely pick differently next time. Here's why we didn't like it: The room we stayed in was very dingy and had a bad odor when you first walk in the door. Very dark inside and reminded us of an old Vegas hotel that really needs some work. The carpet seemed dirty and there was some paint/drywall peeling off the wall behind the curtains. Bathtub was graying and old on the bottom. Also if you stay here I would make sure you ask for a room with a balcony or beach view, the view of the parking lot made the room even more depressing. Just felt dingy and depressing, not what you want when you're at the beach. The towels were threadbare and in need of replacement as well. Some of the front desk staff need to be trained on customer service as well...not the friendliest bunch.Redeeming qualities: the pool is absolutely amazing, heated and clean and lots of room on the deck for lounging. Also steps from the beautiful powder sand beach and within walking distance of many great restaurants and bars. If it weren't for the pool we would've been very sad to stay here. It was definitely not the beach getaway we had hoped for. Also just a tip: November isn't really beach weather in FL! Cool and cloudy with the breeze...this is the second time we've come down here in November and it's definitely not the warmest time of year.
Made a rsvp and requested first floor ocean front. Sure as last time, I had to hunt down the vacant rooms on first floor and write down the room numbers. Because she tried to give us a higher floor. Half the hotel is being renovated; the North building. Upon checkout, Front desk staff did not honor a 20 percent discount for my being a much repeated customer under both my married and other name, and made sure to tell me to remind them to give it to me the next time I come. The man who took our rsvp'd over the phone offered only the 10 percent. Way to make your customers feel satisfied when they are checking out, front desk! I stay in way to many hotels regularly to remember which hotels give me which discounts. But I won't forget this one since I wrote about it on trip advisor.
Front desk staff & manager very friendly but the Restaurant waitress Freda was very surly & unfriendly ie waited a couple of times for up to 25 mins to be served - one time she finally appeared totally disinterested & the other time she never appeared - she should have a job away from customers as her face only lit up when she knew she might get a tip !
I have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the years. It is in a great location, out the back you literally walk onto the beach and out the front you have Publix and plenty of restaurants. This year I was in a recently renovated room. The new bar/cabinet area and bathroom are very stylish and functional. The beds are very soft and comfortable. The hotel staff are quite friendly.
Where do i start... been coming to the dolphin for the past 20 years the views never change but the hotel unfortunately has for the worse... The hotel is in serious need of a reburb its so outdated and rundown, you are really only paying for the beach because there are no other facilities available apart from the pool which is not suitable for small children.. air con did not work in our room even after three attemps for maintenance to fix it, patio doors dont lock carpet along the corridors was covered with some sort covering which was ripped to bits and was a major trip hazard.. one night we had a pipe burst in our room at midnight flooded the room we sat there for an hour while some yound lad tried fixing it but didnt have a clue what he was doing, we was sat there with 2 yound children until 1 am not noing what was happening until they moved us rooms absolute joke.. you would think paying the money you do for a beach front room u would get a complimentary coffee of a morning but not even that u have to pay for this luxury... we had beach front room and our sitting area on the beach was a disgrace 2 old beds and the contrete looks like its been through a few earthquakes holes and lips everywhere numerous times me and kids tripped over.. cleaners are lovely same cant be said for a few of the miserable waitresses in the restaurant... we come here nealy every year and not even a sorry or compensated for our inconvenience.. sad really cause could be such a lovely hotel but has been run ito the ground..
