Old school Florida

This resort has some awesome qualities but conversely some really not so nice things. The beach was great and perfect for a family . The pool lovely .. It is right next to the public beach so there are lots of water toys to rent and volleyball to play . The tiki bar was super nice and convenient The rooms however really need to be updated .. the carpeted floors felt wet .. the place was as clean as a old old hotel that got lots of use could be .. it just really needs to redone.

Nice little hotel

This hotel has a nice vibe. It is clean and the beds were super comfortable. You can tell that this hotel has recently undergone some renovations, but they feel a little incomplete, like they still need touch-ups or something. That being said, this hotel is in a great location. The beds are super comfortable and the rooms were clean. I would definitely stay there again!

no breakfast

What is with the hotels in Florida with not having a continental breakfast? We were here for 11 days and if you ate in the restaurant it would have been over $200 just for breakfast. Yes your room has a college refrigerator and microwave but no kitchen. Microwaved breakfast sandwiches aren't the best. And the hotel has bus tours staying here which means early departures for sightseeing and the café opened at 7am. Now that I have vented, our room was gulf front so the view was fantastic. Air conditioner sounded like a jet engine. Hint: either shut it off at night or turn up to 72 degrees or you will never sleep if you are a light sleeper like I am. Bed was comfortable and clean room. The room was made up every day and restocked. Cleaning staff was very friendly and accommodating. Pool was great and kept clean. Café on the gulf side had wonderful food and drinks and you never heard the band over the weekend. Front desk staff were a little standoffish. I asked about mailing some envelopes for me and was told to go across the street to UPS store. The next day I noticed a box for outgoing mail. Couldn't figure that one out. Shopping is right across the street and plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

amazing on the beach resort for a great price

This October will be our 4th time to Dolphin Beach, each time is a very relaxing and fun experience. it is located across from a dollar store and grocery store, so getting things to stock the frig. is very easy. it is also on the trolley route making it easy to go to Pass-a-grille and Clearwater Beach for the day, no car needed to stay at this resort. We have always stayed in the beach front rooms on the upper floor, but if you stay in a lower room, you can just walk out from your room and be in the sand. view and sunsets are to die for. Yes, the rooms could use an update, but we have always found it to be clean, and the staff to be friendly and helpful with any questions we have. One year, just outside the resort, we saw 12 green macaws on the wires in the parking lot, here's you sign, we were totally hooked on St Petes Beach after that. We will and have, recommend Dolphin Beach

We will be back next year!

We absolutely loved the Dolphin. It was even better than the pictures on their website. It was very clean, we saw people all day long cleaning carpets, windows etc... The pool area is beautiful. The restaurant is very nice. The food is exceptional and the prices we felt were very reasonable. It was nice to have the laundry facitily available also. The Flipper bar was by far the best thing about the whole place. The bar tenders were all very friendly, so much so we hated to leave them. We hope to be back next year as long as the prices remain about the same. We walked the beach, which by the way is the prettiest you will ever find, and we walked the street both ways for miles each day. We did not see anything we thought looked as inviting and calming as the Dolphin is.
