Nice but noisy

Came here for a business trip and the facility is old but well maintained. My room was on the "bay view" side which was fine. View was limited. Staff was friendly and the beach bar was well staffed. My only concern about coming back was that the hotel is generally loud with partygoers at all times of night. Also our balcony had a very bright light I could not turn off. Even after turning the blinds down an putting a towel over it it was still bright in the room. Also the front parking lot had huge security lights that deemed straight into the room. I think this place would be fine for a short vacation but not a business trip.

Great view, good food, average service, decent prices.

Had 28th wedding anniversary on 1/11/2017 at 6pm.. Service was average at best. Food was great, proportions were spot-on, food temperature & presentation was excellent. I assumed that a high-end restaurant like Spinners would offer us a glass of champagne, on the house. Nope, never happened. That really disappointed us. Next time, Catches it is.

Nice Stay

We spent 5 days here over New Years.Older property but all seem to be on SPB.Staff was wonderful.Room clean.Beach bar so- so. Seems the wait staff are wishing they were some where else. But there are many other options nearby much better for this.Would stay again.

Cockroaches!!!

My husband and I got married here in the fall of 2016. Due to us getting married here, we were promised a penthouse for the night of our wedding, at no additional charge. We thought--awesome! Little did we know, we would also have hundreds of other guests staying in our room at no additional charge either--cockroaches!! Yes this place is in Florida, and yes it is located on the beach, so yes, you can expect roaches WITHIN reason. We were on the PH level (level 10 or 11 I believe?) Clearly this was not just an issue of "they must've crawled in from a door/window being open." These were GERMAN cockroaches, which, if you know anything about roaches, you DO NOT want to take these disgusting pests home with you. We alerted management of this disgusting issue, after killing handful's of them DAILY in EVERY room of the pH (our stay was Wednesday-Sunday), and managements cure? To spray. Um, no, please do NOT spray and drive the roaches out into our belongings. Not to mention, management seemed completely careless about what I believed was a HUGE ISSUE. Needless to say, we got to leave our wedding week to come home and HAND PICK through every single garment of clothing and gift to make sure we were not bringing them inside of our brand new home. The only GOOD thing I can say about this disgusting and old hotel is that the view from the presidential ballroom is pretty. We had 1 nice staff member (bell man) while we stayed. Management is TERRIBLE, the wedding planner was a joke. Steer clear if you wish to have a wedding full of good memories.

Big beautiful Beach living

It's January and you are SICK of cold and you need a beach. Among lots of beachfront hotels on St. Pete Beach is the Grand Plaza... any floor from 3 to 9 will give you a good view of either the Beach or the bay, a nice clean (small) pool and a huge expanse of white sand beach. The property's 3 restaurants offer different styles of dining and the rooftop bar is a happening place at sunset. Parking is included in your room charge. Service is prompt and courteous. Geoffrey, concierge, works hard to gat you tickets/reservations/info. He got us two golf dates rapidly. Rooms are slightly dated, but comfortable and clean...and quiet. Ours, floor 8, had a great Beach view but could have had more than the one bedside table! no laundry service, but there's a guest laundry if you have to do wash. There's a great beach bar right next door. Parasailing, jet-skiing, dolphin watching etc. are available at the independent vendors Beach kiosks nearby. It's $35 to have a two-chair "cabana" on the beach, all day, but you can get half day for less. This is definitely a great place to just relax and ignore winter. There are meeting facilities too (I saw them, but can't find an excuse to get my company to meet here!)
