The Beachcomber Beach Resort
- What's Included
Love, love, love this place so much so, bought the T shirt and called it a day... LOL. Rooms were clean, bathrooms were clean. Staff was fantastic and friendly. The food was great even if you can't eat seafood!!! Bartenders were funny and in need of back up because on Friday and Saturday nights with a live band playing and the place hopping they still 6 deep at the bar. Security was great and important if you get my drift. We are making this an annual get away. Big round of applause to the Beachcomber.
This is our second visit to Beachcomber, we returned after really enjoyable holiday exactly a year ago.Two unexpected and unpleasant changes. There is a MANDATORY resort fee of $23 per day, which includes the use of cabanas and "free" safe key, will be charged whether you use cabanas or not. They removed kitchenettes with dinnette table from all rooms (small fridge and microwave only), which was essential for breakfast since the resort DOES NOT have breakfast options on premises, whatsoever. So you must to go elsewhere if hot breakfast is important. The staff is great and very helpful, other than housekeeping occasionally forgetting to leave coffee packets and clean cups. Reception personnel are very friendly and accomodating, we had a late flight so they were gracious to give us an extra hour for checkout, let us printer boarding passes and stored our bags.Resort itself has fantastic gardens and is kept very clean, anywhere you went. Pools are very nice and clean, and they do have food and drink service there, or you can bring your own, but not in glass containers obviously. Gets a bit noisy on weekend nights because of Jimmy B's bar but that is to be expected, no issues there.I should add this, and hopefully management takes notice. Food service at Jimmy B's is hit-and-miss, more miss than hit. Food itself was decent, but after 2nd day of our 9-day stay, we simply stopped eating there because of lousy, dismissive service and loooong waits. Had to go to Toasted Monkey next door or several restaurants across the street, where service was impeccable. No big loss for us - food there is as good or better - but Beachcomber lost 7 days of 2 meals a day for 5 people. Incidentally, at Toasted Monkey we saw plenty of Beachcomber guests for the same reason. For the bar scene and music, however, we returned - Jimmy B's is excellent. Bands are fantastic, atmosphere is vibrant and people are great! We may return again to Beachcomber, as the location and the beach are unbeatable, but will not favour it over nearby resorts anymore, because it lost its edge.
Really looking forward to a fantastic, classy, fun few days at the Beachcomber resort at St Pete's. Instead found Pontins, the trailer parks must have been shut!!If you like nice 1960's chalets, you'll love this place.Food is fast, beer is in plastic glasses and you'll need ear plugs to sleep.Thank the sweet Jesus we're only staying here 2 nights.A friend back home recommended this place to me - I'm so gonna punch him.
We are staying at the beachcomber and it has players sports bar, the food is great the atmosphere is really nice and you get free pool :). The serving staff are all lovely especially Julia who is always welcoming and polite. Well worth a visit!! :)
This is a resort in an excellent location that is clean and quite well maintained. Its greatest strength is that they are extremely responsive to requests for help: whether there is something that needs to be repaired or one needs help with connecting to the wi-fi they were on it so fast. This was always really appreciated. Rooms are cleaned well and the staff is pleasant. AREAS THAT NEED IMPROVEMENT:1) the fitness room is very small and had one treadmill, one recumbent bike and one elliptical. It really needs to be expanded and weights need to be added. They have another property that one can work out at but one needs to drive to that; they need to improve their own fitness facility. Alternatively, they could work something out with the nearby gym Beach Bods and offer workout coupons to guests2) Other resorts in the area offer complementary cold water for guests in the reception area. They need to start offering this service.3) One night we were quietly resting in bed and security started banging very loudly on our door insisting that we open up immediately. We were quite shook up (we even had the do not disturb sign on the door) Our room was completely quiet as we were reading in bed (no music and no tv). They said that someone "from downstairs" had made a noise complaint and they somehow thought that our perfectly quiet room was responsible. When they realized that they had the wrong room they said "sorry to disturb you" and they left. When we complained to reception the next day about this, we were told that security had not documented the incident and that they should have and we were given a $25 gift certificate for the restaurant. Anyway, all water under the bridge now but this was a very disturbing experience when it happened.Despite the unfortunate incident with security, I would return to the resort because we were otherwise pleased. Value was good.
