The Beachcomber Beach Resort
- What's Included
My husband and I stayed at the Beachcomber this past weekend. We arrived on Saturday night and it was super packed with the beach bar. We were directed, once confirming our reservation with the parking staff, to park on the front left or back side right. We found our room and immediately loved the A/C! Close to everything - the pools were directly outside, downstairs. Loved that behind the beach bar was the beach! That's the best part. We were with family nearby during our visit but we appreciated the beach, pools and the AC. Our room was clean and the beds were cozy. Slept super well. The not so great part: parking. I had to make a 300 point turn to back out of my space as I didn't see if the property looped around. There is not much room, spaces are tiny and doesn't give you a lot of room to back out. And there was a lot of yelling our second night from people in the courtyard. The frustration was that this was late (think after midnight) for a Sunday night and everything echoes so you hear it all.
I was soooo nervous right up until check-in due to some of the mixed reviews. Honestly, the room was CLEAN.....the A/C got a work-out (stayed on 60 degrees all 5 days never shutting off).....we couldn't really sleep under the comforter, but were comfortable under the sheet. The beach was AMAZING, the bar was nice, the food was good, and Stephen/Richard at the front desk were awesome. Beds were comfortable.Housekeeping (didn't catch names) were friendly, the gentleman cleaning the pool every morning was so personable. No bugs, clean room, great location....thumbs up.
Only stayed one night in St. Pete Beach and looked for an inexpensive hotel on the beach. Obviously the Beachcomber is "dated"; room was small, coffee maker didn't work, no vent fan in the bathroom. But we weren't planning to spend a lot of time in the room, mostly on the beach. Garden courtyard/fountain area is BEAUTIFUL. Two pools; the larger will undoubtedly have kids in it. The smaller pool is frequented by adults who want to soak rather than splash. Tiki bar serves good drinks with a variety of seating amidst gardenia plants and lit waterfalls. All this right on the beach. Staff was friendly and helpful.
This was our third visit and we had a wonderful time. The staff are so nice and helpful, the grounds are beautifully maintained. We love the pools and only a short walk to the beach, our favorite place to be. All the staff including housekeeping, lawn maintenance, and security were all polite and kind to us. We love listening to the bands, and the food at Jimmy's was excellent. We will be back in September, hopefully for 5 days this time. My sister lives in New York, and she loves coming to the Beachcomber when she comes down. Defiantly a 5 star resort!!
We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed every minute, nice pool and free access to sun loungers on the beach. The rooms are fine but could do with a makeover with the smallest bathroom we've ever used.Good quality beds and happy and helpful reception staff, we would return although we did feel that the drinks at the bar at just under $10 each were a little high. However it is only money!!!!
