Tradewinds Island Grand Resort
- What's Included
We have been coming to the TradeWinds for over 7 yrs and the staff and the property are incredible! More importantly you'll have a priceless experience from not just the things you get to do, but from the kind-hearted people that work there!! From the girl at the front desk that gave us an incredible view, to the DJ Dev at the pool who made my son feel so special (you rock), to the very special kind people who work at the adventure center when we went parasailing!! If your thinking about it go see Claire, McKenzie, Mitchell, Matt, John and Captain Tony and tell them Jimmers (my son) sent you!! They treated our family like their family, they we're so kind and gave us an unforgettable experience and cherished memories we will never forget! Thank you all! Sending our love and gratitude!! We love you TradeWinds!! #justletgo❤️
We stayed at the Tradewinds July 23rd through July 28th. Check-in was a breeze and our room was ready at 11 am which was awesome. The front desk attendant was super friendly. We stayed in a standard room since we only use the room to sleep. It was my husband and I and our two boys (14 and 10). I will say the standard room was a bit tight for the four of us. If you have smaller kids, the standard room is fine but an upgrade would probably be better if you have older kids. The room was very clean if a bit outdated. (It just didn't make you feel like you were staying at the beach.) Housekeeping was awesome. If we were in the room when they came by, then they came back throughout the day to attend to the room. The pools and the beach were awesome. The poolside activities are a hit among the kids. The cabanas are awesome except if you are a person who needs to watch their sun exposure (like me)--you can't position the cabana to keep the sun out in the late afternoon when the sun is directly facing the cabanas without having to climb in the cabana and lose your sight of the beach view. Having umbrellas available for this would be handy for those individuals. Also the floating water park was only available for an hour on one day the entire week we were at the beach. It was disappointing that we didn't get to utilize it at all. The inflatable water slide was a huge hit though. We enjoyed many of the restaurants and I will review those separately. Prices were moderate and not unreasonable for a resort. We used the spa and the masseuses were AMAZING. it was my husbands first massage and he loved it. I will say that the service overall was great and they definitely make you feel comfortable but I have to highlight the Bell Staff and Valet attendants over anyone else. They are incredible. The valet were not just friendly but they went out of their way to engage my sons in conversations about various things such as Busch Gardens (which we went to while on our stay) They were also informative about good places to eat and visit and super quick in delivering our luggage or retrieving our vehicle. Overall, Tradewinds is ideally located in St Pete Beach. We traveled as far south as Anna Maria Island all the way to Tampa and everything was quick and easy to get to with some spectacular views. We would definitely like to return again for future vacations. This resort definitely has plenty of activities for the children. You won't be disappointed.
Family of 4 from the UK - 2 kids aged 12 and 10Firstly the good- the staff were efficient, polite and friendly. The location is great and the beach is beautiful. Its a short 5 min walk along the beach to a fantastic revolving restaurant with roof top bar and sundowner views for miles. We upgraded to a bigger family room which was still pretty small. The cupboards were hanging off their runners in the kitchenette and the decor was 1970's feel. This is a massive hotel and part of a huge chain. On departure I was informed the rooms have all been updated regularly but the company livery is a limiting and it was suggested that this could be why the decor looks very tired. The pools were over full and due to the high number of kids there was a lot of human hair in them by afternoon. Our kids didn't really mind about this and had a great time on the huge inflatable slide on the beach. Generally the communal areas were a little dilapidated and in need of some t and c. There were a lot of big family groups who seemed to be drinking all day long they had all bought the booze in to the hotel to save on the expensive drinks which is fine, just seemed sad that they just sat there for hours on end getting pissed.Maybe I'm being a snob but it was a step down from what I am used to and I wouldn't stay here again even with the kids.
Just back from a great holiday in Florida the last week of which we stayed in Trade Winds Island Grand in Gulf Boulevard, St Petes Beach, Florida. The hotel is a little dated but offers great facilities especially for families. When checking in we were offered an upgrade at a cost, we declined but were then offered the upgrade free of charge. The upgraded suite was small for a family of four but was fine for the week. My two criticisms were (1) signs in room to guests to reuse towels - I agree with this but our towels were changed daily despite the fact we hung them up indicating our intention to reuse them. My second criticism relates to the fact that upon returning to room after a day at beach or poolside there was no where to dry wet swim suits ! We did have a super stay and would return.
This was the second hotel on our holiday travels. We arrived here having come from a smaller 'boutique' style hotel so were somewhat anxious to find such a large resort type hotel. Our anxieties soon disappeared though after we had settled in and explored more. The resort has several bars and restaurants and as a bit of fun they supply a 'passport' which if you get stamped at six different bars entitles you to a T shirt from the shop. Well worth doing as we would have visited the bars any way. The T shirt would also cost $35 if you wanted to buy one !!!The sister hotel just along the beach has a huge aquarium with one of the walls being the viewing area and was built and featured on the TV programme 'Tanked'. They actually show the programme on the hotels TV channel. The pool is on the small side but then again, you are right on the beach !!Staff were very helpful and friendly and all in all I would recommend a stay here.
