Tradewinds Island Grand Resort
- What's Included
Recently went to st Pete bike fest and stayed at the island grand. They had a great rate and the property is very peaceful and lovely. The staff is friendly and efficient. They are very help and accommodating. Salty's tiki bar is a favorite with live music during the day. This is a beautiful beach front resort with a lovely beach, several pools and loads of fun.
What awesome event. I totally enjoy the event and resort, The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Specially Keith Nelson. On Saturday when we sent to leave we got turned around and could find are way back to were we parked our bikes by pool. He could of just point us in the right directions, but no he took the time walk us to are bikes and made sure we got out safely. He was even concerned if we had a good time since we leaving a little earlier. We explained that we had a blast and was coming back for dinner and for concert.
My sister and I visited a few years ago. We enjoyed this resort because of the views and easy access to the beach. The rooms are very neat and clean. Pools were very nice, lots of sunning chairs. Lots of places were within walking distance too.
We went to TradeWinds for our family spring break, over a decade after my family had taken us there as kids. As children, there was plenty to do, from pirate shows, to pool parties. Adults could chill out at some of the less crowded pools at the resort, or at the pool side beach bar, which serves amazing food and drinks. The best part of this resort is definitely the beach, as it should be. Hundreds of complimentary cabanas line the beaches, (the front row beach cabana rental is worth it, if you love a view) and a long sandbar a couple dozen yards off the shore is perfect for lazing in the waves. I'm not a huge fan of swimming in the ocean, but the waters off of the resort were too perfect to resist. The water on the sandbar sits at about waist deep (I'm 5"5'), but the water between the sandbar and shore reaches depths of probably about 6 feet, so beware of your kids swimming out to the sandbar (also depends on the tide). One morning, we went out around 10 o'clock to the beach before leaving for our flight, and saw Dolphins swimming nearby. It was remarkable how close they were! There are plenty of Dolphin cruises which leave off the same beach (mostly avoiding the area in front of the cabanas, but they can still get a little annoying at times), so there is lots of Dolphin activity. However, if you are scared of fish lurking in the waters, have no fear. Outside of the dolphins swimming nearby, I never saw another fish in those waters. The rooms are great, but not exactly the most modern. Our room was right off the main pool, which got loud during the day, on account of the kids pool party taking place. If you don't enjoy the sounds of kid's pool parties, I'd suggest requesting a different room. The room we stayed in had the beds in the first room, before leading into a kitchen/hallway with a bathroom linked to it, which led into a living room, and eventually the balcony. Having a separate living area was perfect, given some of us wanted to go to bed at different times. I will have to say that the on-site dinning is pretty pricey. Don't fall for the Pizza-Hut takeout scheme. A Pizza-Hut off the resort will deliver for a MUCH cheaper price. I mean, at least fifty percent cheaper... (Don't pay $30 for a medium, one topping pizza, y'all. That's just a complete rip-off). The breakfast diner was great, and the staff was outrageously friendly each time we dinned there. Their buffet was amazing, and they even had a make your own omelet bar (which my Dad was a big fan of). Along with the amazing beach views, this restaurant was by far my favorite to fuel up before a day of relaxing in the sun.
We are on the last few days of our wedding week here at the tradewinds, so we brought our 4 and 1 1/2 yr old down to konk adventures! Brenda was amazing and so hands on with our girls! Our older daughter listen to her direction on how to apply the paint and why to apply it a certain way. It was nice to see her teaching as well as interacting. She was a pleasure to be around! She was exactly what I was hoping the konk kid experience would be like. Thank you Brenda and tradewinds!
