Tradewinds Island Grand Resort
- What's Included
We were here the first week of January, when the highs were in the low 50's. We stayed in the tower with the balconies and had a fantastic view. Great room, with a small microwave, toaster, and fridge. We had a room that had a connecting door to another room, and unfortunately our family was not in that room. We could hear a lot of what went on through that door, so that wasn't great, but otherwise our room was excellent. I can't say enough about the service here. The staff were all very attentive and had great attitudes. And there were a ton of activities to do, even when it was too cold to do the giant slide or play on the beach. Their pools were nice and warm, as were the hot tubs, and we did the touch tank at Guy Harvey almost every day. Small putt putt course, paddle boats, pools, beach volleyball, cabanas, beach tether ball, corn hole, giant chess set, and lots of other fun stuff that is all included in the resort fee. We paid extra to do the trampoline/bungee activity and it was worth it. We really had a great time, and we even got to do the giant slide in 50 degree weather. Once :)
We came down for my birthday which was the last week of September and stayed for 7 days and right after hurricane Irma. The resort was definitely an older resort but was immaculately clean. we had a 2nd floor room that was facing the parking lot and our view was of the rooftop and air conditioners which was really disappointing! the room had an microwave and a mini refrigerator. there was not a vent in the bathroom so it was quite steamy. but the room was comfortable and spacious enough for the two of us! the pool area was nice and their was live music every evening, they only had two very small hot tubs that were located by the kids pool and always had kids in them. The big slide on the beach was awesome and we rode it many times, the beach cabana was also included with our stay which is a nice perk! just get there early. with our arm bands we had access to the Guy Harvey outpost which is a short walk down the beach and we went for the smores that you get to make over an outdoor fire. we had wings at the beef o'bradys that was onsite at the resort and they were good and decently priced! we also had breakfast at the bermuda which was onsite as well but way overpriced she had the breakfast buffet which was expensive, so I'd recommend getting something off the resort. Please watch for the timeshare salespeople! they will have you for many hours so just decline and save yourself some time and enjoy your vacation! (unless of course you want to buy a timeshare..lol)And i would like to acknowledge two exceptional employees that made our stay..on was the gate operator as you entered the parking lot, he spoke and was friendly everytime we saw him..He ever gave us a coupon for two free drinks at the bar! (i'm so sorry i don't remember his name. And Marko the house keeping manager was so helpful, he went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable, when i told him of our view from the room he listened and I told him we were there for my birthday week he wished me a happy birthday, hoped that we had a safe trip and come back again..but the real surprise was when we returned to our room later that evening he had sent a birthday gift up to our room, there was chocolate covered strawberries, i bottle of sparkling wine on ice and a refrigerator magnet and a deck of playing cards! It totally made our stay! and He is the kind of employee that you hope to run into..its folks like him to why i will be back to stay at the Tradewinds again for my birthday this year as well.Check out my other reviews for some great places to eat nearby. If this review helps you out please give it a thumbs up!
Families with all size kids will enjoy and never get bored. Mini golf, 7 different pools to choose from, Hot tubs were great and pools all very clean. Movie by pool side with kids was exciting and they loved it. Don't forget to paddle boat around the property, romantic or just fun!!
My family and I fell in LOVE with the TradeWinds. This resort is beautiful. We travel to Disney every year and have now made it a tradition to head down to TradeWinds to relax for a few days after our busy days at the theme parks. Super clean rooms, courteous staff and beautiful surroundings. So much to enjoy.
We booked to attend a CARD (Center for Autism and Related Disorders)conference. My grandson and my daughter both became ill 48 and 24 hrs prior to our checkin day respectively. On our checkin day when my daughter said there was no way she could travel in the car two hours to get there, I called the hotel. I spoke to a really nice representative, Renee. I explained the situation and asked what we could do regarding the deposit and cancellation of 2 night reservation. FYI the conference and reserved rooms were sold out. Renee subsequently informed me there was nothing there could do re: the $166 already retained as deposit on 2 nights stay. I wanted to try to find someone who could use the reservation, get a credit for a stay another time or a partial refund. I was told the money was lost. Nothing to be done. We really wanted to attend and were upset about not going and this was not helpful. I understand hotels have policies but circumstances should be addressed on an individual basis. I have had personal experience where that occurred. I would have been more than willing to provide a doctor's note. I know they will get double payment for the room. Tradewinds may be great place to stay, but starting with your policies and helpfulness to your guests, they have failed miserably.
