Amazing resort! The place is beautiful with so much to do including activities running from day- night as well as water sports included in your stay. The staff are phenomenal, every single person is so friendly, warm and willing to help! The food could be better but the chefs at the restaurants are very accommodating. There certainly is variety- especially as a vegetarian you will always find something to eat. The pool and beach are gorgeous, perfect for relaxing whilst sipping a ‘Bob Marley’!

We stayed for 2 weeks at this fantastic resort. Each and every one of the staff were incredible. A special mention to the excellent staff in the gym including Kemoya, in the Jamaican roots restaurant Karecia, Deborah and Nattanya and Beverley at Urban Eats.
We found the food across all of the restaurants to be excellent.
Evening entertainment was great in particular the Silver Birds Orchestra.
Lovely spacious bedroom, wonderful activities including sailing, Pilates, Yoga, aqua aerobics to name a few.
Lovely clean beach with plenty of beds, towels and fishes to see for snorkelling in the little bay. Great beach service from Stacey-Ann
Would definitely come back :))

The staff and service were amazing. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were unbearable. The drinks were extremely watered and we went days not even experiencing a slight buzz. The food was always cold, even when we sat down for dinner and was prepared freshly from the chef, it was still very cold. We actually survived off the Ceasar salad because everything else was so bland and unbearable.

Also, the rooms, elevators and building are extremely HOT. The air doesn’t work well throughout. We had to purchase small fans to keep us cool. The elevators and buildings had absolutely no running air.

I still rated 4 stars because the resort is beautiful and the staff were amazing. If we were to stay here again, we would bring our own bottled water, alcohol and beverages. Our room was awesome! Amazing view, we had the best beach view. We slept on our balcony, it was so relaxing.

Outstanding we have been to many islands and this is our second visit. No need to go anywhere else. Clean friendly safe food delicious drinks included and plentiful staff exceptional Chevrlle in Italian Daniella Olivia Dwain from catamaran. All stood out! But there was not 1 staff meme that was not amazing! If u go to a beach resort with ppl selling stuff all day or machine gun guards on beach. U will truly appreciate how wonderful this is! And I forgot to mention the shows every night. And because it’s so wonderful- all the guests are happy! Thank you Ziva and Zivirila Rose Hall. My hard earned money well spent

Very good customer service and everyone was so nice and friendly.

We love this place. Food is good and staff is amazing.

Quick summary: Good food, centrally located, various activities for different ages, questionable house keeping, mostly friendly staff, amazing gym.

I wouldn’t recommend this resort for the going rate unless these issues are fixed.

Booking, Guests and Day Passes:
I purchased an Ocean View room, but got a resort view. When I contacted the front desk about the issue they said “Ocean view” means “partial view of the ocean”, but still facing the resort.

At the desk they will charge you $180 to add a guest to an existing booking, but it is only an additional $60 online. I’m awaiting management’s response to this issue.

Management and staff:
They are generally friendly and polite, some will go above and beyond, while others can be very inhospitable. I’ve heard staff talk badly about guests in public spaces when it comes to booking discrepancies.
One even wrote their number down and passed to me. Something that I feel isn’t appropriate for staff to do.

Food:
The food quality is better at the newer parts of the resort, but generally good across the board.
Their ChoiceZ buffet is great for a buffet which has a large array of options that I believe are appropriate for people with different dietary restrictions and pallettes.
Lunch time options are a little limited with more American food options but will hold you through until dinner.
I would recommend FuZion, their Asian restaurant, and suggest that you go earlier in the day if sitting inside because it can get a little hazy.

Entertainment:
Generally good performances and activities appropriate for all ages, with the exception of the cultural performances.
As a Jamaican, I’m very disappointed in the inaccuracy of the cultural shows which perpetuates and encourages visitors’ existing bias that Jamaicans are Rastas. Performers entertain guests in front of a digital screen of the Lion of Judah, which had me really confused on what this performance was for.
That segment needs to be relabeled or removed. It’s a gimmicky embarrassment.

Location and Property:
Conveniently located within minutes of the airport and major attractions, making it very convenient to get around.
Nicely designed with enough space, shaded areas and privacy in the adult section if you want to have a cozy session by the fire or jacuzzi. Swim up bar is convenient but can get crowded if there are large parties booking the resort.

Beach:
Shallow enough for non swimmers and children to enjoy.

Cleanliness:
Housekeeping and maintenance needs some improvement. Dusty café shelves, dirty drains, mildewed room curtains, decaying shower hinges and musty hallways. The reviews about the artificial scent in the hallways is true, because it serves to cover up an underlying water issue.
Thick green algae buildup can be seen in the corners of the pools. The undersides of the bridges are in need of maintenance.

Wad quiet and beautiful

I’m writing this review on our last night here. I really wanted to wait and give it a chance.

The main lobby and the outside spaces are beautiful and well maintained. The beach is not much of a beach as they have a man made strip that cuts it off but great for younger kids. They do have a seaweed problem similar to the other Caribbean islands.

The hotel employees were sweet as well. Krystal at the front desk was great. The entertainment they have at night is so good - these performers are so talented! We took family photos with the resort photographer Michael and he did so so good. The spa was also great and my masseuse Marshell was amazing.

With that said the hotel is in need of a major room renovation and there are just so many different smells throughout the hallways of the property. We switched our room after the suite I booked in building 2 (1 bedroom ocean view butler suite) reeeeeked of mold and was very dated (stained furniture, tiles are all discolored) I actually downgraded/ lost the butler and still paid for the 1 bedroom suite - that’s how bad the mold smell was. Please reconsider before booking this room type. The 2nd room we got was not much better unfortunately, there was still a strong mold smell. It was fine during the day as we mostly spent it outside but at night when we slept the AC would blow directly on top of our bed and it would just be a constant mold smell. The first night we ended up turning it off since we couldn’t sleep. My in-laws also had a building 3 room on the 4th floor and it was definitely better there but our 2nd floor room smelled terrible and some others on our floor shared same insight. My sister was in building 2 and according to her she also had the mold smell and the rooms were much more dated than building 3.

The hotel had no water on our first day and when it finally came back on, our toilet constantly ran all night long. We had to call maintenance in the morning and 2 hours later they came to fix it (again employees were all great). The shower temperature does not stay constant so whenever I would shower my daughter I would have to keep my hand on the shower head so I could pull it away because it would get so hot and then so cold. Others had this same issue - not sure if it was related to the earlier water issue.

This is by no means a 5 star resort. I would say it’s at best a 3 star and only because of the employees. The furnishings and quality of the rooms were so so disappointing, changed the whole overall experience for us. Food/desserts were just ok and I would consider 3 star for this category as well but I enjoyed all the red house wines I had with dinner.

I would definitely not return to Hyatt Ziva, the island and the people are all beautiful though so hope to try another resort in the future.

Had a wonderful time here with my family. Clean rooms, excellent service, love the pools. Swimming area at the beach could be a bit bigger, but it's very safe. Would love to come to this resort again!!

Awesome place

Great food and great service

Everyone is so happy

Special mention for Kevin at the buffet restaurant always going above and beyond

What a great stay 😮👍😎🌴

I was prepared to give Hyatt Ziva a 5-star, but I figured I’d check the most recent reviews to see if any of them also complained about a moldy smell in their room. Bingo. At least a month ago. Dropping a star. Don’t get me wrong, Hyatt Ziva is marvelous. Such a special place. The staff was amazing. When a staff member would greet me, they would place their hand over their heart. I later learned it meant “service from the heart.” The staff was top notch. [Please tip them!]The food was wide in variety and enjoyable. My favorite was the French restaurant and the Jerk Hut on the Ziva side. The pools were nice, and the staff kept the guests entertained with poolside activities. The beach coves were quiet and safe. Two complaints: 1) Ziva is billed as a family hotel, but some of the poolside music was inappropriate for a family setting. For example, I heard the “f” word and also the song “It Wasn’t Me” by Shaggy. I was puzzled by the song selection. As for the bedroom, it smelled like mold. I asked at least 4 times for it to be dealt with. The final time produced the desired results in the room, but the closet still had the smell. My clothes now smell like mold. For the amount I paid to be at Ziva, I would expect something like this to either A. Not exist or B. Be dealt with quickly. However, the complaint has been repeated by other guests.
Special shoutout to Semmoy, the bartender. He went above and beyond every single time.

Excellent service all round

Older facility, but it has great service and great food. While older, the rooms are equipped to suit modern needs. Would visit again, without hesitation.

Israel was amazing and helpful. Great selection of Indian cuisines to cater to vegetarians and also, the masala tea was great. Overall great resort and appreciate all the catered attention.

We had a really good time at this place. The drive from the airport was about 10 minutes. The staff was extremely friendly and very attentive to needs. Especially the wait staff around the pools and beach areas, top notch service. We constantly had staff asking us if we needed anything and checking up on us. We booked a pool cabana one day and a beach cabana another day and both were the perfect spots to relax, eat and drink, read and just really unwind from the hectic lifestyle we left behind in the states. The buildings themselves looked at little run down, the rooms look to have not had any major renovations for 10+ years. They were nice but the leather headboard was peeling, the baseboards were waterlogged in the restrooms, we noticed many leaks in the hallways and conference room areas after a rainfall. It seems the buildings themselves have been somewhat neglected, large cracks in stucco walls, roof fascia pieces missing, several shades/colors of paint on the exteriors. The room cleaning staff was really awesome.

Came for for a business trip. Check in is 3pm and waited over 2+ hours for a room to open up. And STILL waiting…

My “vacation” has literally been me sitting in the lobby waiting for a room to open up. No follow ups. No anything.

I’d go to another hotel except this is all paid for.

Maybe things will change…but does not look promising…

FOLLOW UP POST SPEAKING TO “MANAGER” Shavea.

Speaking to her and explaining that being the first in line in front of literally HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE…I am still waiting for a room. Most got rooms immediately.

Shavea’s response was…nothing…ABSOLUTE SILENCE!!!!

At first I gave this place 2 stars. If I could give less than one star I would.

Welcome to Jamaica….

This was awesome, marble tile throughout the hotel . Service was awesome, and the grounds were immaculate . Will be going back at the end of August.

Slightly overpriced for what you get. Food was OK. For drinks have to ask the waiter and wait even in main buffet restaurant, there is no soda dispenser machine like in other all inclusive hotels. Beach is very small and very shallow, so most guests prefer to swim in the pool, and it makes it crowded. Deserts in buffet restaurant and 2 coffee shops are the same or very similar. Treats Shop had only one variety of candy available, the rest of them are on the shelves for display purposes only. Can be dissapointing for families with small kids. Entertainment area with nigh shows is outside with very limited sitting area in front of the stage. Gazebo by the sea is often closed for private events. Room was spacious and clean, no complaints on AC or hot water. Close to the airport. Unlimited a-la carte dining unlike in some other all inclusive. Overall it was OK but I woudn't book it again and try something different next time.

Stayed for 4 days and 3 nights as part of a wedding party. Staff was excellent, views and rooms were excellent. Only issue was our room (newer section of the hotel) was hqving an issue with the ac,so there was a smell to the room so we were moved to the original hotel side (older looking rooms). It still was a great time nonetheless. Would highly recommend. This was years ago and the issue was resolved before we left. I will be back hopefully sooner rather than later!
